Avatar Statue deed sales - mindark sales in general

6 weeks ago, i had a mindark official meeting me ingame and taking pictures for the statue - since then everything has went quiet again with no reply in support case for over a month nor timestamp updates which usually indicate that it has been viewed/internally updated.

Lol, surely they have the stats for your avatar and can create it at will... must be a holding tactic :laugh:

There's like 0% chance they don't have a testing environment with all the production DBs linked/copied/whatevs and they could just "log in" in that test environment and take all the screenshots they wanted.

I'd stay away from that one. I sent something in to that one back in 2011, and in 2018 an exact copy of the entire email conversation with them there, along with some emails from other participants in Entropia Universe that had done similar (including at least one that was permabanned) was forwarded to McCormick after he started sending them some communications, which I only found out about since McCormick sent me some info about it over on entropiaplanets forum... In other words, they consider every email you send to them as '100% public information' even if it has any confidential info in it... guess laws on confidentiality and consumer protection are a bit different and differently interpreted over there than they are on this side of the pond.

Consumer protection regulation is supposed to be mostly harmonized throughout the EU, but confidentiality is something very special in Sweden. Even other Europeans usually swallow hard when they learn what you can know about each other in this country. Not sure how well they inform about it though when you get in touch with any authority as a foreigner, I have no personal experience with filing complaints through konsumentverket.
 
This is beyond ludicrous. . .

You paid for this feature, how long ago now?

There must be some sort of legality you could take up?

should've just refunded everyone and closed down this embarresing move a long time ago...

They're a disgrace to developers and they owe everyone who kept this game alive since 2003 a lot more than this kind of treatment...

with as much time that has passed, hopefully it'll be Mt. Rushmore sized statues... perhaps even a new continent which is shaped like each of the statues. Might be fun killing mobs on your nose/mountain.

Startbid was 5k, buyout was 50k - mindark only sold 4 to the startbid which likely is the reason why they havent spent any effort.
There was a time where buying something well below buyout would indicate a 'good deal' - it doesnt seem to be anymore...
 
Anyone else find it strange that they would "take pictures" of you for the statue rather than pulling your avatar's size and design attributes from the game files? Are they planning on scupting it with clay or what? Anyway, at least it's something.

I think it's because they want you to choose an outfit, a player ready to unload 50k PED probably has a big wardrobe. You can also choose an equiped item, the possible combinations are endless and I think it's much easier to arrange a meeting and let the owner choose.

It's still not an excuse to take years to do this (shame !), but I think that's their reasoning and it kinda makes sense.

Uch! This crap is sooooo for the "Me", "Myself" and "I" generarion. Its funny to see certain peops own shops, only obesesed with self-promotion and self-glorification, as opposed to providing a genuine service, by being a crafter/shopkeeper. :lolup:

I wrote about it before. But i dont think you're on point.
People bought a statue of their ingame avatar as a tribute to their character. Making a mark on the world and maybe even make a permanent one.

Besides it gives the game character that such things are possible to archieve and also instead of a generic statue decoration, its actually a statue of a real avatar with a real story & journey behind it.

I fully understand why you see it as a waste of money. But i disagree with your point of view entirely. Entropia always been about freedom. whatever you aim is, for some that is fame & fortune, for others its a silent life hunting in the outer skirts of calypso, there should be room for everyone.

(No i did not buy a statue :)...)

Yeah I dont think a statue alone, is gonna do that, but gl to the dreamers and hopefull wishers. You make name with a rep and long term actions, deeds, choices and general standing in a community of any size. Its a human thing that cannot be bought. Youre either a realy good leader with the natural tallent or not. Your born and conditioned to be a alpha male or beta male , same way way with females. There just an order to things. The stupid powerfull always try to mess with things that cannot be messed with or changed. Or shouldnt. If it aint broke dont fix. :wise:

In battle, the glory-boys medal hunters, are not very well received by the rest of the squad. think about that for a bit. Theres being a real hero and theres just being plain stupid. Gets peops killed.

It would give the game a lot more character if the statues were earned instead of bought. Commemorating someone who made a game-wide mark on the game helps build the game's soul, but just selling statues for money just gives the game a more casino-like public image. driving away not only those who play to leave their mark, but also a lion's share of potential players whose aim is exciting, well priced immersion in something other than real life.

Agreed, however would it not be like everything you get in the game ? The good stuff, weapons armor etc. are always the prizes for the top level players ( Not saying that is a bad thing just the way it is). I don't think myself or MA is smart enough to figure out a way to make the playing field level so all would have a way to get one.

BTW this post has so many pages does it say anywhere how much this statue costs ? I think I read 50K peds but that may have been else where. Just wondering.

The issue is not about the purpose of the statue, it's about NOT getting the statue which was paid for.

Similar issue for Compet, MA sold "revenue" deeds, then delibratly developed it without reasonable content to generate revenue.

People are not getting what they paid for., and are seriously pissed.

Anyway I've not met a South African yet, that doesn't scream and shout, and self-glorify themselves. They'd even cut off their right arm, to say look at me, look at me. Like you really...dropping a dig here and there on the community whenever you can to somehow elevate themselves with some self-importance and fake superiority.

I'd even bet you'll give me another neg rep, so I never set foot on your LA as long as I live. But hey that's up to you....hahah.

Look at it this way:

You buy a new Land Area and after you buy the Land Area you are not given the Deed. Very simple way to look at it and is exactly what is going on here.

And yes, if you want to get picky about the Deed then look at it this way:

You buy the Land Area and are given the Deed but MA locks the Land Area and you are not able to do anything with it.

a very good suggestion - for the next time.
sadly the current statues need to be modelled for money (which MA didnt earn with the sales).

still i do not understand why the 3D-avatar data cant be copy and pasted onto a body-copy-statue of their deed holders...

As I stated above I do also agree but when have you known MA to really give something away. I not sure but I do remember something but no quite sure. All the stuff, like the missions, I don't know of any that don't cost more cost more that item is worth. Take despleators, kill 40 (I think it is) and get 3 tokens. Just saying. The is sweat That's what I was trying to think of.

The thing is I don't MA realizes how much they could get by doing a little free stuff from time to time for new players.

I finally got an update from MA support. I don't understand how a company can make a paying customer wait so long and I get this info. Wish me luck, not sure what will happen now. I'm really disappointed in this company right now. I've been playing for almost 10 years, put thousands of dollars in, but unfortunately, every year they get worse. This time, it just feels like they stuck a middle finger in my face for two years and then finally spit on my face in the end lol. Below is a copy of the support case and my responses.

During the time we contacted you and the other Statue owners we looked for you online with MindArk Officials and you were not available.

Technically, it would be to late to provide this information now but if you wish we can take screenshots and see if we can get those applied in time.

So we would need to set up a time where you are available to take screenshots of your avatar but I cannot make any promises at this time.

As for additional information, the project is being worked on and is expected to be wrapped up now after the summer.
