One of the things that crafting needs are new families of crafted items with in-game functionality. And the kind of players EU attracts value information. The basic phone (really more of a tablet, but people understand the concept of smartphone) would just give you a simple screen where you can put 6 to 12 short cut icons...events, dashboard toggle, player registry, whatever.

Convenient, but not great. But it can also hold 3 to 5 apps. These apps are also crafted--maybe in conjunction with other skills--and access information. One could be an app to check who is present at a wave. I've often wanted to know if a serious wave was happening, or if it was just someone hunting. The display could be a simple list, or something like what you see in a team hunt. Another could finally be a shop directory. Another could access the AH, or at least the item list, so you can look up an item any time you want. Another could be an ingame spreadsheet, or whatever it is those players would want. The maps of all the worlds. A quicker note app. An app to let you check your storage from the field. And so on. A lot of things players would like added as features become assets to the economy.

The apps would not decay, but would not be transferable after being installed on a phone, and higher level phones would hold more apps (and be UL, and have shorter cooldowns, or separate cooldowns), so if you buy a better phone, you need to replace the apps. The phones do decay, and can't be transferred unless the apps are wiped. Each app would be pretty cheap to craft, could use a different mat, and maybe a battery needed for the advanced phones would need a mat only dropped by space mobs, and so on. Just like in RL, people will pay for convenience and usefulness.

Not a bad idea. We realy need items to craft, how get used by ppl, so not only Explo crafters are working. Tired about low MU in mining resources.
