Gold Card Announcement

I found a cheap android device that may be usable (not a smartphone!)

How do I install the app, when the device doesn´t have an internet conection.

Is there an install file to download, which I can store on USB stick or something?

If it can talk to wi-fi or your network you can still install from the app store.

If not you'll just need to get the APK from Spawn's link and load it from USB or Micro SD.

I hope it works, congrats on the find.

Not owning a smartphone is nothing to be proud of, it doesn't make you special, it is a choice and that's it. It makes you stand still in time, 20 years ago but as long as it makes you happy, all good. Don't force your ways on others because you want to stay in that era tho. No one is forcing you to civilization, but trying to keep the civilization still just to accommodate you is really like pissing against the wind, it's a struggle for you and fun for us, really.

It has nothing to do with proud, for some people like me its just not the "best" choice.
Occatinally I have to work as builder, and there I need a robust small mobile.
I put it into my workpants together with tools and materials made of steel.
Do you know how that hurts a smartphone? It wont survive the day!
My good old Nokia is robust enough and small enough to carry it at work, without worrying about it to break.

Well, you office workers obviously have no clue what happens to a smartphone, when you carry it while you have to work with your arms and body, and not only with your fingers.

I'm not quite sure how to word this, because the pin-head Socialists, the brain-dead societal drones and the easily-programmed lemmings of the media won't understand anyway, but, here goes.

Smart phones aren't. They are data gathering devices, developed by (and for) the Intelligence agencies for various governments of the World.

The manufacturers are downloading ALL your personal data, your every-day use, ALL your texts and calls, where you take your phone (via all the sensors installed), they have access to your home/business router if you've every accessed it from your phone, they know all your contacts from your contact list, they have all the passwords you've used, including (but not limited to) Paypal, your bank, FaceBook, Reddit, etc.

They know your browsing and buying history, not just by the websites you go to but by actually listening to you speak (on calls and otherwise).

They know every app you have or are using, and gather data from them as well.

I could go on and on but "none are so deaf as those who WILL not hear".

I am a security expert and have been on both sides of a (so called) "smart" phone. I know the dangers and I can (to a small degree) protect myself from them.

Never mind that "death from smartphone use" is the 10th leading cause of death in China, and is creeping up in all other countries as a leading cause of idiots killing themselves by shoving their heads so far up their phones ass they lose touch with reality and (literally) walk off a cliff to their death.

Seems some people really are dumb. But I digress...

There is NO security when using a SP. ALL (and I mean ALL) apps you download gain access (BY YOUR AGREEMENT) to all systems on your phone.

The criminal corporations (Google, Microsoft, LG, Apple - you know all the big boys) simply use and/or sell your data to advertisers. That's annoying enough, but that's just the tip of the iceberg.

The NSA and the DHS (in the U.S.) have a file on EVERYONE and store all accumulated data, which includes (you guessed it) your smartphone.

Many people (mostly in the U.S. and Canada and some in the U.K) know this and do what they can to educate others about this massive and increasing violation of our privacy, security and safety.

My phone is 2g, says "hello" and "goodbye" and that's it. You can't hack it, malware won't enter it, spyware bounces off, and there's no GPS.

And, this point has been made, who the hell does MA think they are to tell me that I have to jump through ANY hoops to access this damn casino just to give them my money? It's a matter of personal rights and freedom.

And you can bet your ass MA will be using your SP data for advertising and to SELL your name, phone#, email, etc to other buyers, both corporate and governmental (and YES that includes the "tax man (in the U.S. - the IRS).

Some solutions (other than using your daily SP) have been produced. I suggest buying an Android SP at a yard sale (I have 3 I bought for $5.00 USD each). Hook'em to your WiFi, download the app, use it then turn off the SP. HAVE NO OTHER DATA ON THE PHONE AND NEVER USE IT FOR A CALL OR TEXT.

Me, personally, will wait and see how this plays out. Considering that ALL the uber stuff (weapons, armor, faps) have dropped 25% to 75% from their highs, I don't see a lot of benefit "selling out". At least, not yet.

The opera ain't over 'till the fat lady sings. We'll see...

I've decided there is nothing I can do for them. They are so Smartphone they walk in front of a Tram. ;)

Now it has become *really* bizarre.

... <rant about corporate spying, government spying, and cellphones literally killing you> ...

Seems some people really are dumb. But I digress...

Hmmm I'm not saying you're entirely wrong. Just a little hyperbolic. I mean yeah, they're actually after you, but you're still being paranoid.

Fun fact most people don't know that in order to pass FCC approval and still be usable, you're not supposed to actually touch your head with your phone while you're using it.

Lol yeah nobody does that ...

Ok dude, just because they're after you, doesn't mean you're not paranoid.

And, this point has been made, who the hell does MA think they are to tell me that I have to jump through ANY hoops to access this damn casino just to give them my money? It's a matter of personal rights and freedom.

Does this need explaining? This is their casino, they do in fact 100% have to legal and moral right to determine the entrance requirements.

Really imagine some dope in another country on the internet specifying how you have to run your business. I think what you are trying to do to them here is the exact sort of thing you would never allow to happen to you.

At least not without a lot of complaining amirite?

Are you, personally, actually jumping through the gold card hoop right now?

... <more ranting> ...

For sure myself and several others are in this thread recommending this to those who are actually confused or unsure of their options.

It's the best advice, and the closest approach to replacing the security level provided by the gold card since it was dedicated offline hardware.

Again if the invasion incurs other risks for you that are more significant than protecting your EU account, not enabling 2fa is still an option.

Me, personally, will wait and see how this plays out. Considering that ALL the uber stuff (weapons, armor, faps) have dropped 25% to 75% from their highs, I don't see a lot of benefit "selling out". At least, not yet.

yep yep, another (EU) day, another (EU) drama. :tux:

You dont understand English.

Crave = something you don't have and wish to obtain.

I've had a GoldCard since 2008. Enjoy your Gatorade. :yup:

I don't mind being outnumbered in a forum argument either....

Thanks for the definition. Let me explain you your feelings then - you went full emo and you're about to rage quit because even if you will still own the GC, the crave for actually using it to log in starting sept or oct will be so powerful that you feel you will not survive it so you choose the option to quit the game you like a lot because of it. Am I close?
No one craves poket app, me and most of the ppl give between 0 and 1 fucks about it.

About being outnumbered, you're still short of your first argument on this topic.

Not even close. Read what I type not what you interpret.

Or just annoy someone else. I'm annoyed enough by what Mindark have done, I don't need you attempting to explain why I'm annoyed, and getting it wrong. That takes talent.

Perhaps you work for them.....

No one is makign you carry your super fragile (because you chose for it to be that way) mobile phone while you work on buildings and shit. It's your own duty to protect your shit, not MAs. Get a cheap one and leave it home.

And there's some much drama about privacy and how addictive these tools are, they are that way because people are stupid. No phone climbs your head and makes you instantly retarded - you were born this way. If you want your data to be private, keep it private, don't share it. But again, you already are on the internet where nothing is safe enough. Go live in the woods entirely, close everything, leave everything behind, if the mean corporations and big pharma want to steal your soul and stalk you with their brainwashing chemtrails....

'Godsmack' doesn't scare me, it basically shows I'm right.

OMG Evey no!

After they drag you down to their level they can beat you with experience!

I will not be intimidated, threatened, harassed or ridiculed.

This Goldcard removal must be stopped or deferred to allow those who wish to leave Entropia to do so.

Shill's taking me on will clearly lose, and lose respect the more they continue to do so.

Let me have my opinion on this. It's mine and I'm entitled to it.

We hear your opinion but Mindark doesn't ask you what do you prefer from their menu.So you can have as many opinions as you want in the end you will either :
-Quit
-Replace your GC with the new technology and enjoy the game as you did before.
-remove 2FA
Not much you can add to this other that you don't support it or you don't like it(i have a nokia too).
If you need a hug rise your hand.

Aside from this I was thinking what if this will only affect space users? How long the drama thread can go on because nothing beats space drama:)

just as a side info:

they dont need your goldcard to hack your account. people think they need to hack the goldcard reader or whatever to bypass the 2FA. thats wrong!

they can just install malware on your pc (e.g. a keylogger) that gets the 2FA code you generated yourself with your goldcard reader and use it at the same time you type in to login. they can also just hook you up with a fake client loader to grab your 2fa code and return an error to you at login so they got a little bit time to steal your stuff with your code until you recognize whats going on.

The "drama" will continue since some of the wise-geek-tech guys trying to convice those have doughts or negative opinion to use and trust "smart"...phones. That will not happen. Some of us are IT's, techies and all kind of that shit and still working in this market. But we can think still!!!!
Personally I suffer from privacy data violation and loss of bank deposits from "legit" bank institutes (not one)!
I found my rights at courts but that's not the point here.
You all defenders of those "shitty" devices just read this if you didn't till today:

PS. 6800+ readers so far in this thread it's an evidence how serious the matter it is for some of us.

Do not use an emulator to run Entropia Pocket, if you can't use it correctly then just disable 2FA. Using an emulator for two-factor authentication is like leaving the keys attached to the padlock.

The whole point of 2FA is to restrict access to the account even if someone else gained access to your computer and/or login details. And all these freeware emulators are often plagued with popups, ads and keypress trackers all subject to security issues, so you are actually more exposed to attacks.

A possible solution for people who don't have a compatible smartphone is to send the generated code via e-mail or sms. Google, Steam, Microsoft, ... and many more offer this method as an alternative to smartphone 2FA and it has proven to be pretty effective. It's a bit less secure, but it will do the job.

As a thought experiment, let's suppose I were to take the following steps:

1. Fetch an old Pentium from the attic (or equivalent location).
1a. Replace the motherboard battery to ensure the clock keeps time for a reasonably long period of time.
2. Do a clean install of my favorite flavor of Linux (for sentimental reasons, rodents prefer xubuntu but it doesn't really matter).
3. Install Anbox or some other s**t based on virtualbox (haven't really looked into the choice these days).
4. Install EP and verify it works.
5. Physically remove all network adapters from the system.

This would of course be a perverse way of getting things done but are there any security risks?

What matters is not native vs. emulator but that 2FA needs to be on a system detached as much as possible, and offline is much preferable to online.

That was exactly my point and you know it, not sure why you had to imagine an extreme (and ridiculous) use case to prove... that you are smart I guess

I'm a bit upset that the Gold Cards being phased out, have had mine 10 years, never even had to replace the battery on it, it just continues merrily working away whenever I log on.

Cant say I'm a fan of installing an app on my android phone to get logged on, as I travel a lot for my job, to different locations each day, where the phone is needed, I have in the past, finished work, got up, and merrily headed to my next job, or home, and forgot to pick up my phone. Really bloody annoying If I have finished for good with said client, to try heading back there knocking on door (most of my clients are 30-50 miles away), and the buggers don't answer it.

I also have 2 tablets (which I'd rather put the app on) but both are windows, which again, is an annoyance as MA don't make a windows app.

I'll adopt more or less on the day, and in the meantime hope MA makes a Windows version.

My 2 penneth worth...

"1984" is much to real these days, but thats how it is.

If it comes to intelligence agencys I would say its nearly impossible to protect your personal data.
Doesn´t matter if it is the CIA, MAD, KGB or whatever. Every big country got their specialists with access to statelites, cable routers and whatever, where millions of user sent data through. Fairly easy to track/record every online activity, if you sit at the right place. No password, no 2FA system is save!
The power behind those agencys is simply to great!

This cyber war things is a complete different story than comon criminal hackers, who have a lot less power.

I am fairly sure, my gouvernment can check/lock or access (deposit/withdraw) my bank account any time, if they want.
They would break the law if they do so, but I am sure they have the power to do it.

And looking at todays real threats, terrorism (fanatics no matter if religous or polittical) have to be intercepted.
The intelligence agencys need that power to do their job and protect peoples lives.
Thats much more important for me than protecting some personal data.

Let this guys do their jobs!
Sometimes they shoot over a line, shit happens and whistleblowers bring it to public attention, thats good too, so people know what happens.

my phone is really old and i will have to buy a new phone to get this..My phone cannot have any more apps on it !!!! OMG i'm so pissed about this

Thanks for not reading anything in this thread. You don't need a phone. There are alternatives.

I think the problem is that MA is forcing people to 1) have a smart phone and 2) own a android or iOS smartphone, to play a PC game.

This is not what any of us agreed to when we made our accounts.

MA has a tendency to isolate portions of the community for no apparent reason. Maybe most people should own or have access to a smartphone in 2018 (or could borrow partners if they have a smartphone) but isolating people with windows phones is a sad move. A quick google search suggests more people have windows phone than iOS anyway.

If MA want to go down this route they should continue to support GC until windows phones become obsolete.

Alternatively MA should offer a desktop version of the entropia pocket app, then everyone will be happy

It seems realy very hard to understand this on MA site, and also at other companys.
It is near same as compile it for ios or android, just compile it for windows.

Believe it or not, but it's the way the [Swedish] society is going. For instance, if you want to buy a train ticket it's way easier if you use ´SJ:s´ (Swedish governmental Railways) "app" than if you try to find an agent. If you want to buy a ticket on the web page and you want an invoice, you need to identify yourself using "Mobilt [Mobile] Bank-ID" - and that is an app you need an android or iphone for. If you go to a smaller market, they don't take credit cards but you can pay through "swish" to make bank a bank tranfer... and that's an "app". Again, android or iphone.

In Sweden, not having a smartphone is going to be like, not having a ´credit card´.

So it's not just "to play a PC game". It's to go by train, or even register jobs you've applied for at unemplyment Agency. Or sign your tax form, if you use a computer where you can't install hardware driver for a "real" Electronic ID on card.

You can order a train ticket on the SJ website to be sent as an SMS... but that SMS will contain a download link to the train ticket (probably PDF document). If you got an old phone (that you can't surf on) the SMS itself would be accepted but the train staff has to verify it manually by entering a lot of numbers. Where I live, the time tables for busses aren't posted on the busstops outside the city, instead you're supposed to use... yes you guessed it. Their "app" to see the times.

Ok since my 35 euro android phone which I put in here was a bit too expensive for some..

How about a 20 euro settop box for your television or any hdmi capable device? If your monitor supports hdmi, you can add it to that too..

Now you can watch all your favorite tv-series and films and homevideos because this tv-box comes packed with the excellent mediaplayer kodi. (and ofcourse you can install entropiapocket on it).
And if you order it together with another customer you get 2 euros discount and you pay 18 euros.

https://www.wish.com/search/android#cid=598ae038264c657fd65f6d80

or a 7 inch android tablet for 21,60 euros?

https://www.wish.com/search/android tablet#cid=5a027ca77482a3541c973297

that should take care of the money problem?

ahh you support Trump and it cannot be from China?

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Ematic-E...ndroid-5-0-8GB-Tablet-with-Bluetooth/44757399

(still from China, but bought at walmart)

Do you know for sure that all of these devices will run Entropia Pocket? My phone is incompatible with it, so not all Android devices will. My phone is utter shit and quite possibly the worst smartphone in the history of the world though :D

Nevermind, I just downloaded it on my phone and it is now working :p

Interesting and very worrying at the same time. For me this sounds like a government attempt to track everything its population does. I hope the British government doesn't force similar policies.
