Hey everyone, I wanted to start off by saying that I have been playing Entropia Universe since 2010 but before that 2006 back when combibos were the sweat and molisks hof'd this is both my understanding and general information of what I have so far gathered during my days currently and old in EU. I'm not an Uber, my highest skill in game is 29, But my knowledge of EU is not something I could put a level on.

I'm firstly going to say I hunt only on Calypso, My reasoning for this has been the fact that it is the main planet and my need to leave it(Minus exploring) has not come to make any other planet my home. Player interactions, creatures, events and LA's are plentiful here the loot to my gathered information is more stable and friendly. So let me just jump into this little guide and explain what i know works and how it has effected my life in EU.

Hunting and the Basics for NewPlayers and OLD ( Understanding )

General Rules: Starting out in EU is far better than it has been in the past, New players come and go everyday, mentoring is hard for the mentor and the new player, Everything is a gamble and hitting that HOF to retire is a day dream you have everyday.*(Maybe the reason you started playing EU)* I've spent thousands of hours and countless days figuring out a way to be stable in EU but from what I have found in doing so every other player is different in the same but different way. What works for me might not work for you and what works for me might work for you in a different way. The great confusion is what i call this. New player buys mining(Lvl1) equipment hits a 1200PED HOF(Hall of Fame) on his 4th probe, Medium player buys mining(Lvl 25) equipment loses 500PED and gains a 287PED Return.

The same general information applies to every aspect of EU, Your friend sells Animal Muscle Oil for 103% but you cant find anyone to buy it for more than 102% Your friend hits a global on a Daikiba Young for 15PED but all you get is .04 PEC returns with the odd .15PEC return. Your friends crafting and hes hitting globals all the time but when you craft you keep losing PED and you never global. So far your in the hole 200PED and the Casino just took $20 from you. Your dream of hitting a big PED drop to cashout and buy a car just went down the drain cause that 200PED took you a month to lose, your skills are worth 30PED and now your time and effort to hit it big has been shut down so hard that you feel stupid.

Entropia Universe is not a gambling casino, every time you type your password and login to EU you are logging into a virtual life that like reality is not favorable to those who dont work for it. Sure that new player that hit the 1200PED HOF hit it off the start and you question why you can't be just like them or ask yourself when yours is going to come. I haven't hit a HOF in 9 years. Some days i ask when my break is going to come... Everyone does at some point.

The truth is that 1200PED hof that new player hit at the start will probably be spent and lost within a week or 2, or maybe that player trys to be as smart as possible but just like the slot machine at your local casino when it pays you the chances of you actually profiting off your $120 you just spent is probably going to end with you saying i should have just cashed out.

Now if you put hard work and dedication into something just like your job, career, family, weekly yard work, taking proper care of your pets, regular dusting of your PC it pays off in the end. You further your career you get that raise, your yard looks healthier your pets are happy, your family is blossoming and your PC never over heats or has internal problems. This is how you need to look at Entropia Universe.

For me this works, For the Ubers out there it works for them. Like a business you are basically becoming one when you press that login button, Your business is acquiring items and learning as it goes everything is fresh sometimes you take a loss sometimes you gain and sometimes you break even, But you still have your employees to pay(Mindark) when you use there system to do so.

80% of us are gonna deposit $20(200PED) and probably 80% of us are gonna lose it really quickly(Either you already did or you have) and it might steer you away. However thats your fault that you spent it poorly or maybe you did everything right but still lost it. Well in order to gain you have to know how to lose, and in order to lose you need something to lose. Just like life in the real world and in EU. (Lessons to be Learned)

With that being said here we go....
ALWAYS HUNT WITH WEAPONS THAT BOOST YOUR SKILLS. (If you ain't skill'n you shouldn't be killin)
Each Weapon in EU has a depletion before it needs to be replaced or repaired. Your cost is per shot, it removes (X) amount of PEC or PED per shot, Each shot Costs PEC or PED to be fired, So not only is it costing you to hunt with a weapon it costs you to shoot it as well. Now starting out in EU is pretty simple for a mind that doesn't overthink and wander.

Lets say I take my weapon that costs me .03 PEC per shot I purchased the weapon for 63 PED its (TT) Value is 55 PED because I purchased it from the auction house. So now I'm going to take that 63PED(COST) - 55PED(VALUE) = (8PED) (Un-Located Value) Now 55 PED(DIVIDED) By .03PEC Gives me 1833.33(Ammo Burn per 1) Now I take that 8PED By dividing 63 PED to find my actual cost per shot of use to find the closest value to 1833.33 Which is 63Divided by .03442 = 1830.33 which works out to be 266 SHOTS out of the 1833.33 which is 8PED Extra Value I paid for the weapon. Now Each shot costs .10PEC so now my shot value is 0.13442 PEC Per shot.

Now I'm going to break down how I value loot(TT) RETURN

There is 5 Categories. LOW, LOW-MED, MED, HIGH, Global/HOF

Now I need to look for a creature I can hunt that is going to give me a return on the low side of at least 1/3rd of what it costs me to kill it. For example, Creature X has 250 Health, My gun deals 21-48 Damage per shot, Calculate chance to dodge of 10% per shot plus health with a 5-10% chance to critically hit gives me an average total of 10-11 Shots per kill. So I need to find an average low loot from a creature valuing at least .35-45 PEC Per kill. (Anything over 12 shots is a Gamble IMO from what I have learned)

Now this is all a rough estimate your actual Loot value will never be given to you until you (EXPLORE) creatures. 1 Creature with 250 health might only give you a .20 PEC per kill. Another might give you .35 pec per kill, Now this is going to factor on your own personal adventure.

Now the reason I choose a 1/3rd Value is because of this. Creature X drops .35 PEC per kill on the low side, That med size is going to be roughly .80-1.30 the high will be between 4-24.99 PED per kill So if you kill 10 creatures all of them drop .35PEC - .45PEC but its costing you 1.3442 PED per kill you are now 13.442 PED per 10 kills. 10x.35 =3.5 PED your still 9.942 PED in the negative, But creature X x11 drops 5 PED, creature X x12 drops 2.48PED and creature X x13 drops 4.42 PED as examples, it balances out. This is what I call Balanced hunting. Now there is 2 Alternatives to this.
That was scenario 1, Scenario 2 is you lose lose lose or hit low-med drops of 2.5PED once and a while or every 7 kills and your out of ammo and end up losing the 55+183.33PED your invested with a return of only 140PED you feel scrooged. You're 98.33PED in the hole and your butt cheeks are puckered. You have 45 PED in Animal Muscle Oil at 103% your making a big 1.03PED and 100PED in shrapnel. This is where I suck it up and keep going like you have to do IRL. I take 16.97 in shrapnel TT it sell the 45 PED Muscle Oil for 103% buy another gun for 63 PED Convert the ammo for 820 Shots and keep going, Now that 820 shots for 82PED and the 63PED gun I end up getting a return of 220PED it costed me 63PED and I have over half TT value on my weapon left. I take the 220PED I minus the 63PED for a profit of 36.67 Minus the cost of my new gun of 63PED for 157PED total profit than i deduct the 98.33PED i'm in the hole and i'm profiting 58.67PED.

Now lets be real this isn't gonna happen all the time the point is, Just because you lose something now doesn't mean you won't make it back or break even if you keep going. The only time you will truly profit is off of Mark Up sometimes you'll have to use Mark Up just to break even. Heck your gonna have to use Mark Up just go buy another gun sometimes and hunt with 400 shots hoping you'll break even or profit so you can keep going but if you dedicate yourself and focus on pushing forward you will get somewhere, Just because Creature X left you a little broke doesn't mean the next creature at your new skill level that you gained from killing creature X will do the same, Who knows, Maybe you'll hit a 240 PED global and it'll break you even after your total loss on creature X was 200PED the next creature hunt you did with dedication and motivation profited you.

Hunt what you can afford to hunt, What your skills allow you to hunt with that bank roll and what payouts are reasonable. Don't shoot for the moon when you don't know whats across the street. And don't HUNT anything without an IRON or DAILY challenge, Sometimes hunting that 250 Health Creature is needed so you can hunt The next creature on that iron challenge using a new SIB weapon that does more damage. Maybe hunting that Creature X into the 10K iron challenge has been torturously repetitive. But maybe you need a certain skill to hunt a bigger creature with ease. Maybe because of that ease you have used less PED to kill it which profits you more than the average player hunting it.

You will never gain anything in EU until you have the knowledge to gain it and the skills to hunt it, You need to adapt to your next chapter by learning and understanding what you have done in the previous one, and you will never get anywhere in life or in EU without dedicating your time and effort, going through the struggle you need to go through and adjust your ways until you find the right one.

My names Tik and I'm an average guy playing a female character streaming with the wife once and a while when the kids are busy or are not home. www.twitch.tv/tiktocca I'd love to talk and get more in depth with anyone who needs help finding their creature X or planning a goal towards the creature after X. I love helping people and I hope this has helped the people that can understand it.

Why go for the low side? If med or high cost the same to kill wouldn't that be more effective?

Going for the low side you still get med and high drops, The trick for me that works and allows me to hunt with pure stability at worst times a 5% loss TT wise. When hunting at a creature that has an average low drop of .35 I know my low-med med and high drops will be above that substantially so it will create a balanced loot for me. The chances of getting the .35 drop is low low but it happens and finding it to know that thats the lowest I can receive from that creature meaning that the chances of getting 1 PED on average per kill only loses me a little bit, When getting a big ped drop it balances out in the end. Skill wise for me hunting a .35 creature i can kill with 10s or less is more viable than hunting a creature that drops an average low loot of 1-2PED but costs 4 PED to kill. Eventually as example that .35 creature i kill will drop that 1-2PED creature to around 2.8-3.2 PED to kill. which will eventually work out to being a 1/3rd creature and the loot will be balanced. If i drop 1000PED and buy a big gun and hunt something i shouldnt be im going to lose, this keeps me playing and skilling all the time and with the most balanced TT returns ever. If MA is taking their 5% cut off me I'm fine with that if I can make 6-15% on my MU.

Hunting guides like this sure don't come easy do they? :p

Is there a weapon that doesn't?

I do wonder a bit how you have learned "the way" from trial and error while only getting to lvl 29.

edit* Whoops, just noticed this is yet another thread Rufen has necro'd. The OP has obviously quit EU by now and took his profits with him.
