i highly support this suggestion, which is standard in all other MMOs since way over a decade.
sadly MA usually has other priorities, which rarely match with their customer's preferences.

but well, another CEO, another chance. we will see...
 
I'm confused, what does Match Of The Day have to do with anything?
 
In standard IRC, MOTD is a property of a server, not that of a channel.

So even if (as many people have suggested) they ripped off some opensource IRC client for the current chat system, this might require additional coding.
