I could use an official clarification whether this change affects mining missions or not.

It doesn't say mining at all, just hunting, so I hope we keep the points we have :yay:

Bestiary
The Bestiary is where you will find all relevant information regarding your avatar’s current progression in Hunting Challenge missions.

in other games the bestiary is where you find information about mobs. bestiary is not a mission log.

def: bestiary

Definition of bestiary

  • 1 : a medieval allegorical or moralizing work on the appearance and habits of real or imaginary animals
  • 2a : a collection of descriptions or representations of real or imaginary animals
  • b : an array of real humans or literary characters often having symbolic significance
  • 3 : an unusual or whimsical collection

This is one of my pet peeves about this game. Why is nothing straghitforward and commonsense by default? Why is everything either not what it seems, not what it should do or not what they do in real life. This is an angle of entropia universe that is bent and needs readjustment. It's everything too.

When i have to explain to a nube why things are like this i usually have to start out "Well, its like this. MA is retarded..." Once that is out of the way then they start to understand. And it's best to make that statement right upfront because retention of players who discover this for themselves is flat zero.

It's possible that MA employs this as a psychological technique to get people playing more and depositing more. It's pretty obvious they exploit the love/hate trick. In my mind, truth and honesty and integrity are all more important than profits.

It's things like this that show how badly MA needs a continuity expert. In programming terms this person would be called the Quality Assurance and he would be in charge of the Quality Control guys. Together they make a Quality Product. Without this guy MA is lost.

Other fake things that pet my peeve include but is not limited to:

  • The thruster that neither thrusts nor does it indicate that you can't fly because it doesn't use fuel.
  • You can fly your quad or sleipnir without a thruster.
  • Space ships use oil for space fuel.
  • There's up, down, east, west, north and south in space.
  • Avatars breath under water yet can't breath in certain areas. I completed the hazmat mission on ark moon with no mask because the mask and hardhat couldn't be equipped at the same time and I didn't notice it wasn't on until after.
  • Did I mention how much I hate instances?

I will point out again and again how much potential Entropia Universe has to be a GREAT GAME. To be at least a good game now, certain aspects really need to be re-evaluated and certainly the fakeness is something we could all live without.

Yea the messi the guy that actually play the game and enjoy. Your case - hit 5k , withdraw it and whinning about withdraw time .

Long live Messi

Id make a joke about the game uninstalling itself in order to make the game better and lighten the server load but they may take it seriously and consider it.

Well, you know, the wind always blows from the west in Entropia Universe. (now where have I seen the wind always blowing one way?)

If there was no west in space, how would space wind know which way to blow?

(it might be harder to notice with quads and other vehicles but sleipnir's exhaust always deflects to the "east", yes)

Darn ! You all got me so well....yet, I am still waiting for the 5k !

I find this disturbing that MA wants to get rid of NPC interaction.
Did any one say they wanted to automate their game so they don't have to go have a conversation, or have the choice to start a mission or not?
What is it that makes them want to get rid of NPC interaction?
As soon as you shoot something you get a mission?
Whats next?
No more space flight just port everywhere?
No more exploration to find and map TPs?
A complete TP map as soon as you login a new toon?
I'm not getting a good feeling about this.
On another note After the last update Cape Corinth lost a whole set of ATMs and a construction machine.
Is this somehow linked to the lag issues?

Something fishy going on.

I did

Finding NPCs is annoying as anything and some of them are really far out or in really random places. Last thing i want to do is stop my hunt to go track down some NPC (sometimes which i can't remember where they are) so that i can complete my mission and start a new one.

It has always been annoying to me that some hunting missions can be starting from the terminal, some I have to track down an NPC and some don't even exist yet. Without any clear indication of which one is which.

This should be a great new edition to the hunting system and much needed imo.

The only new NPC for mission should be a exchange NPC for the not finished missions, so we can exchange our effort, time and money we spend to the missions we have not done within the graceperiod, to get a reward in % of the killpoints we have.
I exacly know, that i not get finished some of my missions with bigger creatures within the grace period. Then i be miner and hunter, so i would be forced to do only hunt, so i may dont loose a mission.

Please MA, think about this, it would be a fair way to change the mission system, without making a lot players unhappy. I don't think , that MA love to make a lot ppl angry, and in same case loosing trust to the player base.

This NPC, for exchange the not done missions, is not a hard thing to code, and i be sure it would give us more trust to the game. I much welcome the new mission system, exectp even, that i will loose my not done missions.

Thanks!

It's not automating the game, it's improving gameplay and cutting out time spent travelling between one point and another for no other purpose.

Yes, loads of people have been saying they wanted that, for years.

For the people not playing only for the gambling thrill, this is just killing the game a little bit more.

What about meaningful quests , missions and storylines ?

Someday, all players will be gone and only will remain a few addicted gamblers out here...the ones that are already denied entrance from real casinos.

If you want to retain the thrill of the iron missions, simply paste the following into a text file and save it on your desktop:

Wow, great job! You really are quite the hunter. Here's your reward.

We still need you to do more though. This time we need you to kill XXX more creatures. I'll give you an even bigger reward this time. Are you in?

Then, any time you finish a mission stage, just fly back to a TP on the other side of the continent, open the text file, close it again, and fly back to where you were hunting before.

Hey presto! You've now got exactly as much storyline as the current iron missions.

This is exactly how they killed off EQ2..
When it stops being a game it will be ended.
Besides that what is MAs motivation ... Surely not to appease lazy people who don't even like MMOs?
After thinking about it.. they want to make sure you do the Iron missions to keep the money rolling in.
If they had some sort of compensation or a better motivation to do it would be a bit more genuine.
Like after you kill 5000 Arulis you get a few million Shrapnell?
This is just force fed BS I don't like it.
I came here to play a real game.
I can go to Reno any time I want.

Many of us played for years before missions existed.

I always saw them as a bonus, but you can do your own thing without missions, plenty of players hunt non-mission mobs for example, let alone considering the miners and the crafters...

There really is no need for 'compensation' they have already given us a year to complete the incomplete ones - surely that is enough?

Wouldn't the easiest solution be to be grandfathered in with your current tier of the mission.. and once you complete that tier you go onto the new system?

Not everyone can play every waking moment. I don't grumble often... but I honestly feel that losing your current progress after the very short grace period is over sucks and does not entice me to want to play.

Maybe you'll dazzle me when the new system comes out and I'll change my mind..but until then. It's a hard no from me.

It would be easier, but I think the one of the key points MA made was that the current system isn't designed for tons of avatars to have dozens of open missions. The explosion of Iron Missions, and tracking all of them for so many avatars is causing problems - thus their desire to get rid of them sooner rather than later.

The new system as described is going to handle all of this differently as it is intended to track everything for everyone. As long as the old missions linger, they will continue to have their negative impact, so the change from 1 month to 1 year is a trade-off (and a welcome one), but leaving them open forever would force MA to maintain the legacy missions forever.

Peace, Miles

There is no need to hold the old missions open for ages, if they make a NPC, where we could exchange our not completed mission kill points to some % of the reward. This would be a fair way to not make some of us unhappy!

And believe me, there will be a lot unhappy. The new system is welcome! But losing effort, time and money at the not completed mission not!

I for one am pissed and would like compensating for all the missions progress i have done ,
There are loads of missions that are half done and ONLY started for the skill rewards.
Just give us a % reward based on completion. Simple

It is perfectly possible for the game creators to do anything they please, if there is no compensation on lost peds it will be because MA DO NOT WANT TOO, Simple as that

Its not a bonus, its another broken promise,
No way i would be shooting 10k atrox without a reward, or 10k molisk, no MU there.

Mission rewards were bought in to stimulate hunting, which is exactly what they do.

As said above without the reward most mobs would be left alone...
Most missions would never have been started........

like many others I have a young family, there is simply no way I can commit to the hrs needed to do all my missions in a year.

Surely this compo option keeps everyone happy and is a far better way to address the situation, especially when real money and hard work are involved.

Bestiary
The Bestiary is where you will find all relevant information regarding your avatar’s current progression in Hunting Challenge missions.
Since the new system is very similar to the list of creatures that used to be in compets when it existed, and each iron mission will become a part of that new system will there be taming type iron missions created under the new system, where each tamed mob counts instead of just each kill? Ever since the reintroduction of taming every tamed mob didn't count towards the iron missions since you tamed the critter instead of killing it. It'd make sense to create taming missions that work along same line as the iron missions... otherwise, what's the point of taming more than one of each type of tameable mob?

Well, I don't think that we've heard what MA is actually planning to do. We only know that we will get a new mission system. And guessing from what they argue their problem is there will be less missions available for the current status of an avatar.

However, what I don't want is to be patronised. I mean I don't want to be told when I can start killing higher mobs mission-wise. If I want to with my low skills I still should be able to do that. If I'm a level 5 sniper and manage to kill a level 20 mob or something it should still count in that mission. Same thing the other way around, if I were a level 100 sniper I could still want to kill some punies just for the fun of it. Now there are missions for it and there should be missions in the future.

I mean I know that all of this is possible without missions anyway, but I don't know if the new mission system will give us the same freedom of choice.

Anyway I hope that ALL missions will be point based, or HP based, Level based, whatever, but that a kill on Stalker or Young don't count for the same.

Like MANY said on this thread. The only way to not make anyone unhappy is to give the reward based on the actual percentage of the mission already done. Is that so hard to do? Even if it involves tokens as reward but anyway just round it down.

When I started this game, there wasn't even missions available, now there are hundreds on them. Why you always try to screw up your costumers?
Looks like, we old players, never get rewarded for being here supporting your product with real money! Instead you always make sure to piss them.

You know there are many mission, 16600 kills for a single type of mob, comment this with any sane person and they will tell you that you are crazy and that it's a huge number of kills. There are a lot of iron challenges, players opened them all, of course, at least while rooming around and killing different type of mobs that wasn't planned, for example while mining, it would count for the many missions in existence. So as you should expect a lot of us have like 4500/10000 aurli or trox or big argonauts or whatever mob that cost 3+ peds to kill.

Do you really think this is a fair move?

If they get rid of NPC interaction they are off the hook for programming AI into them.

No more space flight just port everywhere?
Thrusters don't work they way they should either.

A complete TP map as soon as you login a new toon?

Understandable. The naming of the TPs on FOMA and CP are so bad.

Whats next?
These are stepstones for upload consciousness. Such bigness!

Many of us played for years before missions existed.
?

Including me, I probably even joined the ship before you, but hey ? Is this a competition to show who's got the biggest ?

Back then there was roleplay, storylines, multiple forums for the community, weekly if not daily communication between the players and the company, etc. The list of differences could go forever so let's just keep only one in mind : game was days away from gold release.

We just celebrated the, how much, 16th birthday of it now ?
Come on, we deserve better than a bloody grinding casino. Each of us on this forum paid enough of their salaries and pension to be allowed to voice it up.

One small request:
Can you edit the original post to say that we will have 1 year for a grace period? I was away on holiday and didn't have time to read through 20 + pages of posts. I finally got to the post where you guys have extended the grace period (thank you) . Would save alot of trouble if the post was edited :)
