This idea came about while I was slowly waking up this morning.

Scattered around Eudoria at various major outposts would be 4 or 5 kiosks similar to the PE Exchange. Players and real world businesses could rent 'link' space on the kiosk advertising their business or service to the PE community.

Such services advertised would include:
  • Web Designers advertising their services to PE Societies for websites.
  • PED traders buying and selling.
  • Merchandisers selling brand items such as shirts, caps, mouse pads, mugs, etc, etc.
Potential advertisers limitless.

Theoretically the business/service operator would have a PE account in order to access and setup their business/service page ingame or via the PE account console (more likely).
  • The page would typically contain the option of adding a business logo, title or banner, a few small pictures and a description of services and pricing.
  • Multiple pages could be added or bought for a small fee of 50 PED per month per page and would be scrollable from the main advert page.
  • The business identity could pay rent in advance for advertising based on increments of the pages bought eg, (3 pages @ 50 PED each) x 6 months.
  • All advertising would be subject to review by PE before posting and a 'fair use' policy would have to be agreed to by the advertiser. This is a necessity because of possible abuse by peddlers of pornography, spam mail, hacker websites or other undesirable activity.
  • A 'notify MA' button would be available to customers if an advert or link from the kiosk infringed the 'fair use' policy. A console would appear allowing the customer to describe the infringement or complaint before sending.
  • Statistics would be kept by MA on the number of players accessing, also which adverts were most popular on the kiosk for marketing purposes.
  • A feedback console would be available to players allowing them to review the business or service they had used.

Sorry for beeing a little bit off-topic but this sentence reminds me of a short story abaout a famous director Billy Wilder who had the same idea that the best ideas comes in the twilight between to be awake and fall into sleep. So he decided to have always a pen and a sheet of paper beside his bed. One night he had a brilliant idea and we wrote it down. At the next day he read his notes and on paper was written: Boy meets girl !

... this story has nothing to do with the quality of your concept !

I guess any idea that puts PEDs into the game is worth considering. It helps MA and therfore the community too. But one thing is very important. It may not change the character of PE.

I'd love to see big things happening in the PE universe as the future of online gaming evolves. It has always been my belief that the differentiation in genres between 'realtime strategy', 'first person shooters' and 'roleplaying' games would disappear with the advent of games such as this that had characteristics of all three. It has the potential to bring people together from different areas of gaming, mix that with ideas such as virtual casinos, jobs and shopping malls in PE and you have a fully functioning virtual enterprise universe.
