How to make money in Entropia - A guide

Crafting comments now added to part 2 :D

Last call for any comments before i ask MB if he will be preparred to sticky it...

Still a classic.

K2's guide to making money in Project Entropia.

1. Buy and Outbacko and 1000 ammo (cost 1004 ped or 10.04 us)

2. go to the Snablesnot herds east of Fort Argus

3. Every time you kill a Snablesnot go outside in the real world and find an empty soda can.

4. You should be able to kill about 30 Snablesnots with the 1000 ammo and you should have about 7.50 ped from loot plus 30 soda cans. If you then return the 30 soda cans to the store the refund will be .05cents or 50pec x 30 cans for a total of 15ped. Plus the 7.50 in loot gives you a total of 22.50ped or a profit of about 12.50. This is the only way I figure you can consistently make money in PE. : )

I remember that one...yes... a classic

Decent guide but then why are you comparing entropia to RL? I really do not understand the comparison. IN RL a decent jobs sustains a person enough from month to month, in EU a job does shit unless you are lucky and have good loots. This game is not about playing smart, I have been playing smart for 6 months, I ahve a very economic set up, an economic armor and I still have to deposit more or less because I pretty much get 50%+ losses on hunts and mining runs.
I don't think there is a guide per se how to make profit in EU, this game is a lottery some people win, the majority loses. So yeh, My point is there is no way to make profit in this game and no guide can teach that unless someoen can teach how to predict the future so we can know what to hunt, mine, or craft and when.
Good guide though, can teach how to minimize losses, but I don't think that the problem for most players.

Did you read the guide?

2. Many people complain that they never profit hunting/mining. –This one really irritates me, as the “universe” is specifically designed to prevent the “average” player from making money this way. Think about it, if the average player could easily make a profit from these activities, where would Mindark make their money? Always remember, any activity where the idea is to profit directly from Mindark themselves is purposely designed to be as difficult as possible for the player. You will notice that the vast majority of advice I offer in these guides is about making money from the community, not Mindark…

This game is about playing smart. I suggest reading it again... I specifically say you should not expect to make money hunting and mining, yet all your comments are about the "lottery" of hunting.

I suggest using 50% of the money you make from your "job" to fund the fun activites like hunting. :wise:

Hi Tor, read what she wrote again.... she is agrees with you. She is pointing out that you only make money when you do a NON-Standard proffession....Something where other players give you money.

You make your money off the players...not MA. MA needs to make money...so you will not win with them. But The players have money to burn (why else would they be in EU? ;) )

I noticed in Second Life, that there was a little gambling. Makes sense.

Second life is 99% have a profession, 1% gamble.

EU is 99% gamble, 1% have a profitable profession... as least it seems that that the same ratio of players is involved in each.

Maybe someday, EU will have more robust 'player based' profession. There actually used to be a bit more of that here 3 years ago (as far as noobs were concerned).

Nice work :)

Crafting, you dont have to skill for years to make money as a crafter,i know this one crafter who started playing after cnd, and now is able to get a steady income from crafting.... :)

thx that crafting info sounds handy :D

must be Zorro
he just was tired of hunting, but didn't want to sell his unique clothes
so he is crafting still masked :D
or maybe Batman :vampire:

Crafting is more about the right bps, and qr than it is about actuall skills, sure skills helps alot, but you can have tons of skill and you wont make any money if dont have the right bps.

I could tell you, but then i would have to kill you ;)

Seriously, they asked me not to name them... then said ok, name me but dont say I am a non-depositor (which for me adds a lot of value to their information) - unfortunatly, at that point I had already put he (or she ;) ) was a non-depositor so now I cant name them.

However, if they would like me to add there name at any time, I will be more than happy to add it. Just send me a PM if thats the case Mr X. :D

Personally, I think they deserve some of the +reps

I wish i had checked this post b4 i started :) lots of good clear info for all skill levels :headbang:

So mining is totaly "Random" right? How can anyone then profit? Even if she or he is "über" and very smart? I mean even with cheats, how can anyone profit if the mining is designed as a casino which ofcourse works in the companies favour?

And it's not really a poker game where the best , with some luck, gets to profit. It's just a roullete it seems.

WoW I can swear I read this somewhere.

Maybe not in this guide but maybe even in it. *Head starts spinning*

So is there some logic to go on after?

I read it somewhere that this one guy had once went to a place and mined a very big amount of money at it and after that returned to that place time after time and goten nothing or very little.

Hello,

Re: mining - random or not

All we as players can tell you is theories. Because all that MA will tell you is nothing.

Some people believe there are pattern based on skills, others paterns based on place in the game, others based on underlying logic of the computer program. Many people blend two or more popular theories into thier own belief. Yet after all that non of it can be proven.

It is highly likely that if a miner ever found a true, provable method of mining that always profited they would keep it to themselves. There are several reasons for this but the top two are greed and Because MA would change the system.

As was stated in the first article - the best (or was it only) way to profit is to make money off other players beacuse MA makes the rules in their favour.

Good luck

Gounder

I wonder why nobody yet has just simply.... :wise: Never talk about such things on a forum.

Perhaps somebody already has. But your argument stands. The few who know (if any) are shutting up about it. The most simple sollution would be a copy of a simple flash program. Random units of a surtain ore are placed randomly by the server.

My question is: How often does ore actully respawn? Does the server "sleep" for a couple of minutes each night as in other games and then re-places the mined material or is it done while playing (this is obviously done if the server lacks a respawning function).

It's simple behavior. Consider this: If I told a LOT of people (say all of EF, who would in turn tell their soc mates) exactly where they can find "money" lying around, with less danger then hunting, just where do you think everyone will go?

Not quite. I can go to the exact same spots and pull out the exact same product each time. Not in "exactly" the same spot. Maybe the hits are a few hundred km in some other direction, but when I need a particular item, I go mining in certain places, and soon enough I'll get some.

The quantity/exact location changes, but not the overall general location.

Making Money the Pinky Way

Hi all,

I have been playing on and off for about a year now. I have unknowingly used Pinky's methed recently to make money.

I started with 4 ped to my name. Wife threatening to kill me if I put any money into it. :)

A friend let me borrow 200 ped. Gave me some excellent advise, and I took it.

I started buying ores, Oil and melchi at 2 pec prices - some %%%%. After I bought as much as I could I took the ores, refined them and placed it in the auction.

I didn't try to make all of the money I could at 1 time. I placed it on auction for either 2pec prices or 2-3% above. I place the items for auction with a buyout the same as the price of the buy. No-one has to figue that I am trying to rip them off. I have had maybe 3-4 times not sold my item in auction in a 24 hour period. I create a situation where I am making money and I am not swindleing others to make the money.

The only direct use of MA was the auction itself.

I have been doing this for almost 2 months now. About 2 days out of every week or two is taking the ped from my income (50-60 ped) and hunting or mining.

I have since then repaid my friend, I have been able to find items I wanted to buy and could afford them. But the biggest reward is that I now have 800 ped and will continue to do this. At 1000 ped I am going to take 100 ped and go hunting and mining until it runs out. That will leave 900 to spend on reselling.

So really, Pinky is right about making money. The less interaction with MA the more you will make. But remember also MA allows me to make this money. It is you that provides it to me. This game is alot of fun. This is just another aspect of the game that is fun.

Thanks,

Okaido

I will!
Hehe, I read the part about not buying weapons the fisrt thing you do, and I got a little guilty since I got about 250 rifle skill, 70 pistol and 160 shortblade.... But that square 1 thing is so true, If u dont count the small amount of peds in my lousy opalo, amp + broken axe and some paint, (1 hairgell ^_^, but wtf am I doing, i'm not going to add anymore items to this list...) other than that I just got like 55 pecs... :dunce:

Early last week there have been a lot of "no loot" moments (at least for me).

I also discovered that at some point in time I was unable to sweat (always got mindforce was interrupted, no matter how close I was to the mob). At those times I would also not get any loot at all.

Solution for this was to logout and logon again (which seems the solution for a lot of problems).

Wrt the 55 pecs: That seems very low. Typically I get loot from 1 out of 2 or 3 mobs that I kill. Often only a few pec's (I kill mostly low level mobs like snab's, snarks and exa's), but sometimes also more than a PED (actually once got even more than 10 ped on a snab young, almost felt like a global).

Generally do not expect to break even on hunting alone on the long term.
If you want to break even sweat the mob first and kill it when it is dry.
The sweat will cover your ammo and decay.
