To celebrate our upcoming milestone, I am happy to introduce this mini-event:

5000 EFDs to the lucky member who makes the 500,000th post on EntropiaForum!!

Congratulations in advance to all members who have made such wonderful contributions to the forum, and have helped us reach such an amazing post count so quickly!

OK, I have done some calculations.

The declared winner of this contest will be whoever owns this post:

Right now, that link will show an error for "invalid post" since the entry does not exist yet. Once we reach 500k posts, that post will be considered the nominal 500,000th post, since the counting method is a bit warped by various hidden forums, and the way vBulletin indexes posts.

wow 500000 is really a milestone

is that active posts? or does it include deleted ones?

If you scroll to the bottom of the main forum index you will see a section called "EntropiaForum Statistics"

Mine too, although maybe Dilly is short of peds, leading to one of his 300 posts a day efforts.

Errm, how do we know if we've made post no. 500k? When I look at the post link in the top right corner it says 506k +.

Does this mean that there have been 8k+ posted removed or deleted?

No, we have not deleted 8k posts. The reason for the difference in counts is that posts in the off-topic forums do not count toward your personal post count, or the post count of the forum as a whole.

I have just worked out the numbers, and the way the winner will be determined is whoever has post number 508,189.

I thought that only the "test Forum" didn't count towards post count?
 
Ah, cool.

But surely if people keep posting in the Off topic bit, that figure you have worked out will increase.......

Unless posts in the offtopic bit now count towards the Forum total....
 
I will investigate further which posts count toward which totals. Since there are over 40K posts in the off topic area alone, clearly some of those posts are being counted in the forum total.
