I can have fun, sometimes, when I am prepared to lose 2-300 ped a night. The new loot system has made it so that you lose 99% of your hunts and score bigtime once a year if lucky. I had a nice hof 2 months ago (almost 10k) and managed to spend it all since then. With my last peds I bought a new weapon and I will see how this goes, I'm certainly not planning to deposit 5k ped/month to have fun; 1k ped / month should be enough imo. If I burn thru that in a week I will seriously have to consider what to do, be bored in EU or find something else for some cheap fun.

Meh...I am pretty tired to say too atm much but I'll say a few things...
EU has depressed me latelly more than in any time since I joined.... I have barely logged in for 2 months, only rarely, just to PK in twin... and that was all...
Skilling? With all the nerfs? Bleah....
Hunting? With all the crappy loot and bad decay and etc? Nah
Mining? never did the trick for me
PK is fun indeed, but bites your wallet than a lion starved to death...
Only my friends and my soc keep me here. Only that.

This is one of lots of threads but I am inclined to agree-MA has become incredibly greedy (or stupid) when they changed the loots-Now even if you are totally efficient, you can usually get a return of about 30-40% from a hunt-I dont care about profiting, Its a game and I see depositing as my subscription fee-But when the deposits are higher than a normal subscription fee because my losses on hunting are so bad now, I think to myself-Whats the point? EU is a sub par game, the only reason I stay is for the forum and my soc mates, I now just turn up to take people on tp runs and things. Ive even started sweating again! ;)

I'm not bored at all. I have many things to do.

now, that said, I tend to ignore much of the stuff other people find impeding their game. whilst this does limit my advancement, it doesn't break me. being broken would certainly result in boredom.

so, I have long since given up on any top-end equipment and skill levels. I don't really need those things; and, as a result, I stay happy.
Pretty much my thoughts also.

Didn't vote- 3 choices indicate boredom one says never - there will always be some times of boredom.
Skilling on filters and basic whatever isn't exactly setting the world on fire. but I do it to work toward small goals.
Exploring, hunting, mining changing up my activities keeps me interested, also studying the charts, working toward an optimal set of equipment for the things I enjoy, based on my skill and budget keeps me quite occupied.

As Kira said, I don't see having the super $$ gear, if the skills come, they come. There are workarounds for every situation.
We make ourselves happy. We allow outside influences to make us unhappy.
Quality time with friends (insert any activity) is still quality time.
Setting goals for yourself is the key to an interesting life weather its virtual or not.

I've really given this some thought and I know it is has been suggested before, but I will say it again....

All we need to be happy is beer and fishing. When I am bored and need to relax in the real world, I grab the poles, tackle and some ice-cold beer and head down to the lake.

Wouldn't it be nice if you grab your gear, some virtual beer and head down to the river or lake in the EU and toss in your line? Bear needs some additionaly snappers for his aquarium business anyway.

On a more serious note... I am very glad to hear that a fair number of people have found ways to keep things exciting for themselves. I can say that I do enjoy the social aspect of the EU and my friends and "family" keep me coming back even in the EU's darkest hours.

The society beacon runs, the hog hunts, the trips to CP... All of these add a little more excitement to the mix.

To anyone who has never been a on a beacon run.... or hasn't done one lately... I suggest you try it again. For those who think they can never take on the bigger mobs... put a team together and have at them... you might just surprise yourself with the results.

Any miners that find bot ships and loot beacons, offer them up to your societies as a group activity... go have a blast. I also suggest the use of voice-chat software while you do it.... It is amazing the fun you can have when running a beacon run and telling each other funny stories as you shoot the bots to oblivion.

Ultimately it is going to fall to us as players to make our own excitement in the EU, so let's, in the immortal words of Larry the Cable Guy, "git 'er done!"

I can see how people who fail to adapt and evolve will get bored but i myself have been here soon to be 5 years and still have fun :yay:

Sure I like beer ( I love it) and fishing (yes, I am a chick :D) but without that, nothing listed above would make any sense... ;)

EBN: Urgent, The Infiltrators

7 June 2007

The EBN space station in Calypso's orbit has just a moment ago intercepted of a sub-space signal directed at robot forces on Calypso. Although largely undecipherable, the message seems to contain some code and sets of coordinates on Calypso's surface:

.....::1:st:e/a:1808318406=(EudOpen)::....::2:nd:e/a:97273010=(AmeOpen)::.....

The entire message has been passed on to officials at RDI for any assistance they may be able to offer. With recent discoveries of enormous Mining Bots in northern Amethera, we're not quite ready what to expect, but it's sure to be dangerous.

In the mean time EBN are putting a team together to investigate possible sites and hope to be supported by some of Calypso's toughest warriors.
When I saw this on my client loader I was sooo excited, somthing was going to happen and I was going to be there for it. When I logged in and checked out the cords I was sooo disappointed, it was all in pvp. I thought I would atleast check it out but when I got to Echidna  I didn't even know there were that many eons in game. I realised I wasn't even going to be able to watch as I did with the eomons. So I went over to the feffs. Again.

This wasn't meant to be just whining, I really want a mission from time to time. I would like to go on a beacon made for one that I can go on whenever I please. Also some invations with mobs of mixed difficulty; something for everyone.

I haven't deposited a huge amount (but still more than I would for any other online game) but I have spent a lot of time ingame (not reselling) and I am proud of my avatar. Yesterday when I calculated my skills I found them to be over 60 k and I thought that was pretty good for someone who has been playing for under a year and hasn't chipped. Then I thought: who cares? If I get twice as much then maybe I'll be considered a mid-level player, then what? At some point I will stop skilling on the mobs I'm hunting now and the only way to go forward is to get gear that I can't afford. So what is the point of skilling up? To be able to use gear I can't afford to buy economically?

But all hope is not gone yet, I will keep skilling the way I am and then turn to se if there is something usefull to be found in the (L)-market.

To lighten things up I go to events sometime, many are free to join. I usually loose a few peds but atleast it breaks the monotony.

If all else fails: get a noob. I have just gotten my first disciple and I love it. We went on a tp-run and as he marvelled over how butiful the landscape was I saw the place again as I had done with my noob eyes.

EU is a nice place but if feels like it has potential to be so much more. It kind of feels like we are all going through the motions wating for something to happen.

there are a couple of common complaints, which I hear all of the time. randomly, this is one:

Log on, check auction, buy ammo, go on a hunt, loose 50-80% of what I wasted on ammo + decay, tell my self “you cant global every time, better luck next time.”

I don't know where to begin with how poor a strategy this is. one should not expect globals and HoFs. they're something that just happens. further, if you're consistently losing 50-80%, you are definately doing something wrong. I consider a loss of 30-40% to be horrid and I immediately attempt to correct it. usually, I can average over 80% return. I don't think I try as hard as I could, though.

Would it be so hard to implement a few quests?… I don’t ask for a uber mega deluxe super quest… just a pastime like: Go to location xxxxx-xxxx and pull lever on the wall, then find a secret room in the house at XXXX-XXXX, look at the wall and see a painting of a mountain or some crap like that and so on, kill a few mobs at one location and get a thing from one of the mobs, go to a new location, use the thing to be able to open a door at the end and kill the flurwgunther guard or whatever and finish the quest… at the end you would get quest points (and if youre lucky, a few pecs from the mobs you had to kill) to be able to go on a bigger and a bit harder quest…if it’s a question about the almighty greed, MA could sell quest tickets in the TT machines starting with 10 ped for the first one…

personally, I consider this sort of thing to be the peak of boredom. having someone tell you what to do isn't very creative. I create "quests" like this for myself all of the time. I call them missions and work them into my various plans.

IM board EU because its god damned impossible to get sweat now adays so its hard to get any money

Ok, darlin, we can have the sex too... but I'm not flying clear over there, so we will have to meet in the middle... ok?

LOL

And as long as you like beer and fishing, we will get along just fine.

:D

IM board EU because its god damned impossible to get sweat now adays so its hard to get any money

being a sweat gatherer isn't the only way to make money, you know. you could try to get an in-game job.

if you can't find one, drop me a PM. I usually have several of them. they're not very glamorous, but they pay a little and are not very hard.

Oh yes.

You see, I happen to kinda enjoy my IRL job. Actually I find pleasure, joy and fun it, sometimes. Dunno if it matters what I do, and no, is not in porn industry :D

Problem is that, for the last 2-3 weeks, my job is more fun than EU. And guess what, I get payed too.

I did joined EU for RCE aspect, but you gotta questionate at some point if is worthy. For me it ain't, at least not for the moment. Not in THIS way, not with this stupid "ATH or die" style. Just some.. money.. which I can gain in 1 month of relaxed work at job. Where I go anyway. And if money go to -, fun is from long time under 0, why the heck?

So cya, screw RCE :yay:

Wow, the poll results are pretty sad but predictable...

My main dissatisfaction is centered around this sudden policy twisting (linden $ to ped suddenly half legal? Peeps who don't have "license to pawn" presumed scammers and threatened to be locked.") Its no way to treat customers, esp. when MA defines our $ as deposit/liability.
Also I'd very much like to know what happened to the players that were banned for botting.

If I found the system "boring" because of loot, I'd quit straight after V8.9, and I don't mind the painful skilling mode, balance is a good thing in all games.

If you are bored , play other game for sometime.
There is behemot zillion of free game. With advantage and inconveniance on EU.

I allways have 2 or 3 other game installed than EU , and i play them when i feel in bad mood with EU , when loot are too crapy...

Then i com back and play again ready to enjoy and have fun...

I do agrea that , a big problem is in economie...
More and more price of item go up to point that only chosen one can aford even an average gun...

But we have to adapt , and use L item.Hunt other way , hunt less and play more something else...

I wonder how it come there so many people that say EU become boring , and they still play...
I do play for fun , if i dont have fun , and feel its boring , then i prefer work , it pay for sure....

What can i say i loved PE but not EU but i will see im MA will do something about it,,,,i hope so.

got bored and then MA made loot without ped's , quited for half year , now got back but it look pointless now loosing peds all the time:mad:

The things that killed EU for me are:

1) limited items (I absolutely hate them)

2) inflation (upgrading to the next armor / weapon lvl would cost me over 10k usd, which is just more than I can justify for a video game)

3) skill nerf (after reaching 150hp, it became insanely difficult for me to make much progress skilling. I don't have the time to play 12+ hours a day skilling with crap loots and I'm not going to drop thousands of usd to buy chips.)

That being said, I am seeing a lot of people either cashing out or seriously thinking about cashing out. I wouldn't be surprised to see a serious market "correction" soon.

Addiction...thats why we dont leave. I tried other onlinegames...all became boring after some weeks and got deleted. Addiction... (and the 3D-Chat option) ^^

@Enum
Yes, affording PE became more and more expensive. But as long as we have those "uber-rich-I-dont-care-what-it-costs people", the story will continue...

I still have fun doing things in PE...but that doesnt include hunting, mining or crafting ;p

low average loot on medium/hard mobs and insane hofs on noobmobs is what kills this game

very very nice thread:)

sad but true:rolleyes:

ofc soc m8s n very close friends stay me alive here

I think you have to first evaluate why you play EU.
If you are here to make money from hunting, crafting, or mining then you should probably leave now.
If you are here to talk to people, then you will be ok.
If you are here to try to become a well respected player, then you can work toward that goal.
If you downloaded EU to try out a new game, and have no goals, then I would imagine you would get bored very quickly.

Do I like the loots? Not usually. ;) I wish everyother loot was 5k for me. But, I know that is not a reasonable expectation to have.

For those of you who just absolutely see no point in continuing, please send me your username and password and I will be glad to convert your items to peds so I can get some new items myself. ;) I will even be glad to chip you out and add those skills to my ava.

I usually say to people, if you want something changed, make some constructive suggestions. My wish for 5k loots is not constructive. If I make constructive suggestions to MA and they do not listen and if I don't think they will ever go in a direction I like, then I would leave and not hang around complaining about it. I didn't play the game Anshe is famous from because I went to some of their forums and saw people bashing the game. I then thought "hmmm, that game must suck. I'm not downloading it." If people come here and read our posts, what will they think about EU? If they don't come, we don't get new people with new money.

Like I said, send me your username and password for EU and I will make all your problems go away. (don't really do this :ahh:)

Sure , but you can not say there is not plenty :)

What player miss the most is the thrilling of the HOF... but hey ... thats long time global and hof have lost that thrill...
Global and hof are as comon as going to pee... but hell , it does not mean anymore " i have make profit"...
Nowday , hof is normal loot...
To be sure to make som little profit , you have to get a 5k or ATH ...

New money??? Is this new money coming in supposed to increase the loot pool or jam more resources into the ground for us to find? If that is the case, I am really starting to wonder about where the $400K+ bank sale money is  As a loyal participant I have yet to see my dividend (or a cash card).

Perhaps a good question would be "Is MindArk bored?" They tend to start a storyline (we all know them) and then it dies off. WTF? It would be awesome to see a real threat to the planet with the Warants and cK fighting side-by-side along with newish freelancers and everyone in between to save our world. A true infantry-style battle with a GOAL!!! It has been done before with the robot wars and rewards were handed out (uber armor PoE).

Sorry for going off topic, but perhaps discussing the reason for the boredom is constructive. Marco, are you out there mate?

I detect some movement from that ring located in your underwear..... aka talking out your arse :)

its the same names i see 70%minimum of the time hoffing or globalling on the same mobs, hogglo aurli, etc etc etc, or same people crafting.

so yes their common but for the same people over and over again

You bring up a really good point. To us EU is entertainment, escapism, and a way to socialize world wide. Maybe MA is bored. I consider my job boring at times and I could see Marco and company sitting around in another meeting out of one of the many they probably have.

Frank: "The natives are restless again. They are demanding better loot and storylines.............can you believe it storylines?!?! Do they think we have nothing better to do we have the next big thing to develop and the Egg has fallen off the map."

Marco: *yawn* what did you say Frank? ohhh yah been there done that ummmm lets develop some more (L) items that should keep them guessing. Ahhhh...........the Egg hmmm I forgot about it to tell you the truth how much did Jon pay for it again *chuckle*"

Frank: "Isnt game design great I can't believe they let us do this for a living"

Marco: " Frank quit watching those damn game design school commercials its nothing like that. Day in day out listen to the bosses above and the customers below *yawn* I'm tired anyone else tired"

The rest of the meeting blearly looks up and nods and puts their heads back down.

Ok my attempts at comedy fail but no matter what your job is one day it will get boring that is just the nature of the beast and maybe when the staffers are bored it spills directly over into what they are developing. Very interesting needless to say I will have to think on it more and realistically try and look at it from a MA staffers point of view.

I think you misunderstood Etopia's post.

For most people the thrill of EU is the global or HoF, but for those like Etopia, Auktuma and others, who Global regularly while crafting, it still isn't enough to ensure a profit and because of the regular nature of them, it isn't exciting anymore.

I can't tell you how many times I have sent a "grats for all your globals tonight" message to some of the better crafters. More often the response is, "thanks, just another night at work" lol...

They are crafting such high end items that less than 50 PED value on a completed item is crap. So the globals are nothing and the cost per click still means that a 100 PED item isn't ensuring a profit.

Hope that makes sense now. :)

Good point on storyline btw.

For 20$/hr they could at least bother finishing the description text on modfap, and maybe bring Roman Ram to Calypso :/

When I started playing 8 months ago it was ALL very exciting :yay:
Everywhere was new, and everything was fun.

Now, though, I'm still hunting mostly the same MOBs (just taking them down a little faster), still getting killed by mostly the same MOBS (just not a quickly), still using the same equipment I bought back in Nov 2006 (Just barely able to keep it repaired), still mining the same stuff in the same quantities, and still failing at the same crafting prints.

Makes Me wonder why they keep adding New areas with New MOBs (or other players) that take Me out faster and faster, New materials I couldn't possibly hope to reach, and New equipment I'll never be able to craft OR buy... It seems all "new development" is designed to enhance the experience of 2 groups:

1) Players who have been on since the beginning and earned UBER equipment/skills when it was possible to do so.

2) RICH Noobs who can DEPOSIT massive $$ and buy UBER equipment and skill chips.
:scratch2:

Just like real life, the virtual world is quickly becoming the playground of the rich, and the "not rich" are being ignored by those in charge...
