A Noobs Tale

Day 30-Did some more craftin on basic sockets, ran a big run, ended up at around 60 ped loss...ouchie...:(

Day total-Loss of about 60 peds crafting
Total amount of peds-1310 or so

Hoping to do better the next few days on these sockets now that I got me some QR.
 
Day 31-Did another 'big' run of basic sockets, probaly the worst run yet.
down another 100 peds....
Had to borrow 400 peds from a soc mate to afford the run. And even now, I'm totaling a measly 43 pecs on the card. I gotta get all my darn auctions sold.
Anyone buying basic sockets btw?

Keep crafting if you enjoy it and are ready to deposit soon. Otherwise go back to what works for you : mining.

Ya, I was looking at my logs for the last week, and ya, the crafting's really draining my peds. I'll try and sell all my crafting supplies, and start mining again this next week. :D

Just read through this whole thread, it's a great story mate.

I've read the thread because I started a similar one a couple of days ago after my first day on EU.

One question I've got - I take it that you know some people in real life that play or that you gained a bit of experience in your first attempt? The reason that I ask is because in your first few days you were using terms that I've even heard of after my 4 days or so of playing. Reading this makes me realise that I'm not just a noob but an uber-noob lol!

One of the other things that I've picked up from on this thread is rep on this forum! It's not just the game that I've got to learn but this as well!

So to finish off my post.

Great man, its a really great game, but no, I know absuluetely no-one in real life that plays. (Don't I wish) ;)
My main source of knowledge comes from my soc mates, and my #1 most important reccomendation to you, would be to find a knowledgable, fun society. I don't know what I'd do without them, their great friends and its fun doing stuff with them. :)

And my #2 suggestion..is too read the forums, every guide you can get your hands on. ALOT!
When I started, I spent over 1-3 hours a day just reading the forums.
Thats what their for, use it to your advantage. :D

Day 32-Some of my (small) auctions sold, and I decided to tt my basic sockets, yes..sacrificing 20 peds or so, if I had the 8 billion hrs patience to sell em.
(yes...8 billion, considering only 40 or so peds of em sell per week) ;)

And with that payed back my loan halfway with 200 peds, and with the other 200 I had, I decided to go mining. And Adamas decided to come escort me, :D
Which was really nice because after last time, I was still a bit nervous. ;)
And the run went fairly well, PACKED with green's at the edge and the towns, and we even saw a few pk'ers inside the area. But they didnt bother us..Thank GOD:rolleyes:
Found 2 small himi claims, no moss..:(
And generally had a good run besides that,
Afterwards, I went and mined at a few diffrent places and the run was going pretty good at the beginning, but crashed to a half halfway through with a basically dry streak of 30 bombs/probes, but luckily, it turned out o'k, and ended on a good note with some 10 ped finds.
Listed A TON of stuff in the auction house, which resulted in 20 peds of fees gone, :( (so I guess that comes out of the daily total?)

Day total-Made a profit of 31 peds mining, but with the auction fees, ended with only 11 peds.
Total amount of peds-1221'sh.....Yes I'm still too lazy to add it all up more correctly. I think after this huge amount of stuff sells, I'll tally it up.
I really need the auctions to sell or I'm back to having to wait another week for my cash to come in. (BUY MY HIMI AND MOSS) :laugh:
Especially since I got 23 peds cash on the card.

Don't know exactly how are you auctioning your stuff, but a little tip. From my experience, there is no point to set auction time higher than 24 hour. Otherwise it is just listed there and during last 24 hours it will be bought.

Of course don't set the price too high, I usually check the daily markup and set my price around that markup. When the price is manipulated, don't set that price(when you auction your stuff frequently you'll know if it is manipulated).
Common resources I list that way are bought within cpl of hours.

Day 33-Well, today was a VERY mixed day. I started off with a 100 ped mining run, and decided to use up my 101 amp on this run. So I headed out to a brand new area to run a tp on the way. The run went great, I scored 3 X claims and a boatload of ores. Afterwards It suddenly dawned on me that I had just made a 40 probe miss streak...:(
And still.....with the total for the run, pocketed 20 peds cash. But it could have been REALLY good if I had just hit the enmatters at the same time, :)

I then went out and spent some time sweating to get some more ME.
And thats when it happened, my good friend, Adamas smashed out a 385 hof and another global. And frankly...I snapped, I honestly went crazy.
I spent the next hour selling at least 3/4th's of my ores/enmatters. And with this cash started the Plastic Springs I bp. (maybe I should have thought this through a bit more) :confused:

And so I went into the auction house, calculated how much stuff I needed for a 500 click run, as well as ped cost. And I bought my oils and marched over to the machine. And then realized I was mising 300 peds of oils...
I franticly searched my inventory and storage...where had they gone?:confused:

And ofc...I found them with a bid sitting in the ah, so I added 5 peds onto the bid and bought em out. Phew.:rolleyes:

I then went over and stood on "magic oil" as Adamas calls it. :D
And started crafting...
An hour later I stopped to pray to the loot gods, and slowly opened the inventory.
With a solemn look, I added up the total, and regretfully tallied the total at 217 peds loss.....

And so with an empty heart, and an empty pedcard, Tamn bids the world farewell for tonight. :(

EXCEPT...I almost forgot, (told ya it was a mixed day);)

I finally met up with cevaliao the colorer, and got my pants colored, as well as my spiffy new shirt and a GORGEOUS pair of shoes (Thanks SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much man)

I feel the magic shoes will give me some more luck in the days to come. ;)

oh ya..almost forgot..on like day 28 I hit the levels needed for graduation, too bad my mentor has quit. Ya, forgot to mention that, especially after the last few days.

Get prepared for ped drain. Results are not like mining. Start skilling on cheap components like filters then dampers ( I have a spare filters BP if you happen to meet me in game). It takes a lot of patience. When you get skills you can try stuff that has markup, like some limited items or tools/ weapons. Don't try higher level stuff right away as your chance of success will stink and you will waste more peds.

Seriously, you had a great start in this game. Got a lot of skills and a nice ped balance much of a deposit. Enjoy the game don't be depressed. Besides, this thread is fun to follow please don't depress all of your readers!:)

That works, except for high end items like rifles, shadow/angel, or big beacons. But since im pretty sure Tamn won't be finding an "Ample" deposit of Jaguar, stick to the 24 hours. :D

This is disturbing... he had so much money and now he has 473 ped( or less?) looks like everything is luck in this game.
 
he has loss, because he didn't stick to his thing which is obvisouly mining...crafting the simple BP's is just for skilling, not for making profit,...my soc m8 is level 6+ or 8+ don't know really crafter and still doesn't make profit often...the thing with crafting is if you will try it for a year constantly 12 hours a day...you might get the freakiest hugest ATH 220k+ or you might loose everything..the bankroll needed is just insane..with tamn's lucky finger and now greenish lucky shoes he's like a mining lepreckon:))) the irish lucky little guys you know:) wait till he grabs 200 bombs goes on a run, then we'll be seeing a couple of pics of globals or hofs and he'll be back on track! I'ts really amazing to watch someone make it from zero, and not from sweating! its something rare..talent..or luck:) I've deposited over 100€ by now and lost everything to mining:D not 1 global hof spacecraft or anything:) (sounds familiar to anyone?):D:D:D good luck on your next MINING run tamn:) stay away from the slot machines for your own good:cool: or we'll have to report you to craft-o-holics really! ;)

Ya...I finally realized that, andI'm kicking myself in the head for doing crafting...how dang stupid I was!!!! :p

And ya, I'm really loving mining, specially with my awesome green shoes, hehe.

Day 35-Well......I have to say that I've never played so much in my life, lol.
I played from 12 am thru.....about 10 am the next day...

And then I slept a whole 12 hours, lol. :laugh:

I mined everywhere.....every place I could find really.
And out of my 200 ped mining run, ended up with a very nice 87 ped profit.

Due to a nice XII and X oil, (the XII by the way missed globaling by 3 peds!)
(Thanks alot Adamas for helping me clear the mobs around the oil)
The run started VERY nice, and ran excellent all the way to a beacon run hotsed by my soc mate, Jedi. (the guy who ran the last one I went on)
I had an EXCELLENT time, and really enjoyed it as last time, :yay:
But...I have to thank my soc mates for another tamn blunder, lol.
*slaps head*
OF course.....tamn shows up with no...armour..gun...or ammo...or ME to get to the beacon place....lol! :laugh::laugh:

So a thanks for the borrowing of the gun and ammo, and the me ofc.
That gun was especially fun!!!!
I critted for 92 dmg...muahahhahahhaha
And was averaging 30-40 dmg constantly...
Haha, it's always a good time when I get to blast a frikin cannon. :D

And the loots were'nt especially nice, but I still received 21 peds and had alot of fun. So thanks a lot Jedi.

Afterwards I half the second half of my 200 ped minign run...and received a whole 19 peds tt.......(That just shows how amazing my first run went)

I was totally stumped as of where to go mining after all that.
So I decided to try hunting, and failed miserbly, 15 peds loss after 10 minutes, and I was already so tired I swear I was falling asleep every few minutes.:laugh:

So I put off writing this until the next...next day. ;)

Day total-93 peds profit :yay:
Total amount of peds-906
I took a closer look at the peds...And I have a bit more than I thought.
So I added another 200 extra onto the total.
 
Day 36-Today I decided to do some Eudoria mining.
Bad choice as I learned, ;)
The missing markups killed me, the hit % was nice and all, but the missing markup just ate up the run. :(

Also, had to leave 3-III ore claims behind as the atrox swarmed it and me, and I respwned so far away no chance of getting em by luring, and I aint a hunter. :(

Tomorrow I'm thinking about hunting all day to try and at least get to the point where I can murder me those dang atrox youngs.
I'm pretty close, so 2-3 days of solid hunting should do it.

Total amount of peds-890
 
Atrox young won't require too much. You could buy some shogun, a little FAP (I personally only use a FAP 18, just shows you how noobish I am), and a mid-range sword and be set to hunt the low level maturities of atrox! Glad to see you back into mining, and yes, stick to Amethera. The taxes from the LA are more than covered by the markup.

P.S. I organized a 25 PED beacon today, came out with a little over 400 overall! :) I do love the beacons, I may try to make it a semi-weekly thing for the soc.

Ya, I just was curious to see how Amertha compared, hadn't there awhile.

Though it might take a bit to get there, I think its important to be able to move at least a provider Trox off your claim by force. It will help lots not haveing to relie on back up to help you. Also you will need some hunting skills to deal with "Strange Signal" bots....you definatly dont want to get smoked by the bots and miss your chance at a good beacon. After the mid lvl troxs the next true anouence IMO are the Goki's, nasty grasshopper things, it will be a bit before you can kill those.

So, would full goblin work for trox?
I already have it, but I dunno....Maybe I could throw in a plate to make it work?
And will a standard breer m2 be enough for most of the maturitys?
Will it need an amp?

Been awhile since I was in your shoes.

I know you probably dont have the ped now but someday you will probably need full 5B set. I have had several freinds who really loved some of the 4 series of plates too. You can look at plates as a positive investment. Im pretty sure I killed my first baby trox in goblin or kobold, you will also probably need a fap that is better than the FAP5(or whatever the L= is ) 5-10 points of heal just aint going to save you. I think the riffle your useing should work fine but again, hard for me to tell.
Hunting out of all the professions IMO takes the most knowledge of equipment and other aspects of the game to do correctly. So even though your not a pro hunter might help to go kill some things with your friends in team hunt and solo. Really the best teacher is experience. Your levels will dictate how often you get hit, how much damage you do, how much your average heal is....ect. Its good to have a good feel of whats going to happen so you know what needs to be done.

Also :) if you see a critter with a name that starts like Goki dont get close to it. If you want to check one out, run north of the river at camp pheonix and look around :)
