What we may see soon
- The level requirement for UL armor is still planned to be implemented soon
- Team Hunting and Mission Counters
"In the past there were technical limitations to shared mission progress when teaming, however this is now possible for new missions with the contribution-based features seen in recent dynamic events and Mayhem quests. Our plan is for new missions to utilise this system." - Society system improvements
"We do have quite a few plans to implement new features for the Society system, several of which were inspired by suggestions from the community." - More emphasis on lore and storyline
"In fact, we have a dedicated Game Writer and all-around loremaster (James|MindArk) who has been heavily focused on the Calypso storyline for quite some time now." - "We are actually currently working on a mining event that will happen alongside Easter Mayhem, stay tuned for more info soon!"
What is not a priority but not off the boards either
- CLD voting system
"A voting system is something that excites many of us here at MindArk. While it is not among our highest current priorities, it is something that will come in time." - Land Plots development
"Due to other projects taking higher priority, the planned next stages of the Land Plot system have not yet been implemented. Until that is done, Land Plots will not be extended to the planet partners." - The Galactic Transport system
"The Galactic Transport system is definitely not cancelled. Other projects took priority in 2018, but we look forward to completing this system. The money collected from auction transport fees will be distributed back to the community in one form or another." - Affiliate system
"We do believe that a properly designed affiliate system has lots of potential and it is something that we would like to give higher priority in the future, but our current focus is on other projects."
- Graphical improvement for older estates on Calypso
- Sitting Down & Lying Down might get re-implemented
What is not in plans
- Ultimately no plans to implement any sort item renting or loan system.
- No short term plans to further develop stables
- no immediate plans to move Entropia Universe to a new game engine
- No support for other platforms (Linux, Mac etc)
- "Most likely" no new pet features "within 365 days"
- No plans for a complete crafting overhaul
- No short term plans for fort-style pvp systems (like Fortress Invincible)
- No plans to convert non-SIB weapons into SIB weapons.
- No plans to create specific upgrades for SGA Edition or Mentor Edition items.
- No short term plans to introduce bonus effects for attributes (like Strength = carry weight, Agility = movement speed, etc)
- No bulk transfer of skills
- No Mindbank
- No fishing
- No racing
- No return of jukeboxes
- No current plans to change the Sweating mechanics or animations.
- No sponsored advertisement in game
"Yes, at one point Entropia Universe had a system which displayed sponsored advertisement on the in-game ad screens, however after evaluation of the trial run, it was decided to scrap the system."
Considered features and long term goals
- Overhaul and revitalize PVP
"Our long term goal is to overhaul and revitalize PVP in Entropia Universe. The changes implemented in Loot 2.0 have opened up the available design space for PVP specific changes, and we look forward to taking advantage of that. However, engagement with PVP has traditionally been relatively low, so it is not currently at the top of our priority list." - Upgrades for Starter Pack items
- Separate team/shared ATH/HOF from individual ATH/HOF
- Future of pets
"Pets are a fun part of Entropia Universe but we don’t want it to be mandatory for every player to have one, therefore pet-based buffs and other benefits need to be properly balanced. Pets and taming are not at the top of our current priority list, but we do plan to implement adjustments and new features in the medium-term." - Copy-pasting links on auction to search
"This is a good suggestion and something we plan to include in a more general update to the auction interface. " - More spaceships
"We do plan to ultimately add space ships within different classes and with additional functionality, but that would be part of a larger Space release." - Crafting system that doesn't require to be near a terminal
State of affairs
- Mindark's ambition is to increase the number of employees by seven in 2019
- MindArk has renewed its commitment to focus its resources exclusively on Entropia Universe for the foreseeable future.
- Conversion of new participants and retention of existing participants have tending steadily up over the past two years.
- David Post is still the owner of Next Island.
- When coming to work for MindArk, any existing avatar controlled by the employee is locked and cannot participate any longer. All avatars used by MindArk employees are owned by MindArk and cannot deposit or withdraw.
- No plans to interfere with "dead" LAs
"There are no current plans to ‘interfere’ with avatar estates in such a way. It is up to the Land Area deed holder to maintain the creature spawns, if they desire. For example, some Land Area deed holders keep the creature DNA in place but intentionally do not add fertilizer in order to make the Land Area ‘miner friendly’." - On withdrawal time
"The most time consuming aspects of processing participant withdrawals are the intensive anti-fraud and anti-money laundering procedures that must be performed for all withdrawals, large or small. In addition, our team must also be sure that PED being withdrawn have been acquired fairly and in accordance with the Entropia Universe Terms of Use and EULA before the withdrawal can be approved.
Withdrawal requests are placed in a queue based on the date of the request, and the queue is processed as quickly as possible while ensuring that all of the procedures described above are completed sufficiently.
Regarding your idea for pre-approval, this unfortunately is not practical since we would still need to perform all of the anti-fraud, anti-money laundering and internal security procedures." - On withdrawal with PayPal
"All withdrawals are made directly to the account holder's bank account, with exception for participants in the US who can use Paypal under these terms:
• One withdrawal up to 600 USD via PayPal per month.
• MindArk covers the PayPal fee.
Please note that the only currency for PayPal withdrawals is USD and that your full name and address must be correct in your Entropia Universe Account.
To make a PayPal withdrawal, select the option "via bank" and write PAYPAL in the field "Bank BIC". After submitting the withdrawal request you will receive a withdrawal ID. You should then contact support and choose the category "Withdrawals", include the withdrawal ID and your PayPal email address. The transfer will be made to your PayPal account once all other usual withdrawal precautions and procedures are completed."
Mechanics
- Looter skill only affects the TT return from creatures, items are specific to each creatures loot lists.
- The “Efficiency” and the “damage per pec” are the only parameters on weapons that have a direct effect on loot.
- There is no real benefit to level pets beyond a certain level, although they are "exploring ideas to make them more rewarding".
- The time at which you play does not have an impact on your return.
- "Loot 2.0 only dealt with hunting loot, not crafting or mining. We also later made adjustments to reduce volatility in the crafting and mining systems, but that was not directly related to the Loot 2.0 system."
- There is no restriction on avatars borrowing items from friends or society mates [in Mayhems], and there are no plans to institute such restrictions.
- Tiering costs, Mission Galactica, auction fees contribute to CLD revenue
"All of the activities you mention would contribute to CLD revenue, assuming those activities took place on Planet Calypso or were performed by Calypso-tagged participants elsewhere in the universe. " - Fees generated by the public event system are returned to participants in loot
- On blueprint drop rate
"The overall blueprint drop rate has been unchanged for many years. However there have been changes to which blueprints drop at various times. Some have become much more rare while some, particularly the newer ones like the ArMatrix blueprints are more common." - On bankroll management concept
"MindArk does not hold or promote any specific view on the concepts you discuss. Such questions relate more to a particular 'meta' approach to Entropia Universe, which is something for participants to work out for and discuss among themselves. Our suggestion would be to make use of the many valuable community resources where such topics have been discussed extensively. "
