It’s time once again for Planet Calypso’s annual winter hunting extravaganza - Merry Mayhem!
Running for 25 days over the Christmas and New Year holiday period, Merry Mayhem is among the most exciting and popular events in all of Entropia Universe, with lots of valuable prizes.
The highly popular Merry Mayhem event will see many changes this year, combining elements from other Mayhem-style events as well as older incarnations of Merry Mayhem.
So grab your best gear and join in the Mayhem!

Event Dates:
Dec 17, 14:00:00 UTC - The Santa's Little Helper NPCs in Nymphtown, Fort Zeus and Fort Ithaca become active and the event begins.
Jan 11, 14:00:00 UTC - Event ends.
Jan 25 - Event results announced.

Categories
The Merry Mayhem event offers two competition categories: Solo Mayhem and Free For All (FFA) Mayhem, with five instance areas for each category.

The solo event, as the name implies, is the place for individual hunters to shine. Only a single avatar may enter the solo event instances.

The Free For All category is a new twist on the former Team category, and will allow groups of participants to work together to accumulate points. Mayhem FFA Stars are tradable, allowing participants to farm point tokens that can be sold to the highest bidder, or turned in to increase their own event scores.

Event Registration & Participation
Santa's Little Helper event NPCs are located in Nymphtown, Fort Zeus and Fort Ithaca. Speak with one of these NPCs to enter an instance of your choice. Entering an instance will activate the mission corresponding to the category, Solo instances for Solo Mayhem and FFA instances for FFA Mayhem. The Merry Mayhem Solo and FFA missions can be active simultaneously.

Event points are earned by looting special Mayhem Stars for the Solo Mayhem event, and FFA Mayhem Stars for the FFA Mayhem event (see below).

Solo Mayhem Creatures
  • Solo 1 Instance: Mayhem Kerberos (Solo 1), Mayhem Araneatrox (Solo 1), Yulebot (Solo 1)
  • Solo 2 Instance: Mayhem Kerberos (Solo 2), Mayhem Araneatrox (Solo 2), Yulebot (Solo 2)
  • Solo 3 Instance: Mayhem Kerberos (Solo 3), Mayhem Araneatrox (Solo 3), Yulebot (Solo 3)
  • Solo 4 Instance: Mayhem Kerberos (Solo 4), Mayhem Araneatrox (Solo 4), Yulebot (Solo 4)
  • Solo 5 Instance: Mayhem Kerberos (Solo 5), Mayhem Araneatrox (Solo 5), Yulebot (Solo 5)

FFA Mayhem Creatures
  • FFA 1 Instance: Mayhem Kerberos (FFA 1), Mayhem Araneatrox (FFA 1), Yulebot (FFA 1)

Scoring
Solo Merry Mayhem
Event points are scored by looting special Mayhem Star event tokens. In Solo Merry Mayhem, looting one of the Mayhem Star tokens automatically increments your event score. The Mayhem Star tokens can be saved as souvenirs, or discarded at the Trade Terminal. Solo Mayhem Star tokens are non-tradable.

Final event scores will be calculated based on hourly point averages to derive each participant's 40-hour normalized event score.

This scoring method removes the need for participants to track time spent in the instances (beyond meeting the 40-hour prize eligibility requirement, described below), removes the risk of participants being inadvertently disqualified from the event for time reasons, and allows all participants to hunt as much as desired in the Solo Merry Mayhem instances without giving an unfair advantage to those who are able to hunt for many hours.

Example
Avatar A - Point total: 4000, Hours : 40, Hourly point average: 100, 40-hour normalized score: 4000
Avatar B - Point total: 6900, Hours: 72, Hourly point average: 95.83, 40-hour normalized score: 3833.33

In this example, Avatar A would place higher in the final results, even though Avatar B has more total points.

Highest Single Loot Bonus - The participant who scores the highest single loot on each of the various Solo Mayhem creatures outlined above will receive a 50% boost to their final 40-hour normalized score! (Limit of one bonus per participant).

***IMPORTANT*** A participant must complete at least 40 hours in the Solo Merry Mayhem instances in order to qualify for winning a prize in the Solo Merry Mayhem category.

FFA Merry Mayhem
Event points are scored by turning in FFA Mayhem Star tokens to one of the Santa’s Little Helper NPCs located in Nymphtown, Fort Zeus and Fort Ithaca. Acquire FFA Merry Mayhem tokens by defeating creatures in one of the FFA Merry Mayhem instances, or by acquiring tokens from other participants.

There are no time requirements or restrictions in the FFA Mayhem category.

Tier Upgrade Tokens
These special tokens can be used to tier up an item by one level, up to the maximum tier level indicated in the token name. Contact support with one of the Tier Upgrade Tokens in your inventory, specifying which item you would like to tier up.

Examples:
A Tier Upgrade Token 2 can be redeemed to raise the tier of any tier 1 item to tier 2.
A Tier Upgrade Token 5 can be redeemed to raise the tier of any item with tier 4 or lower by one tier level.

Bonus Prizes
In addition, all event participants reaching one of the various point thresholds will receive bonus prizes as detailed below. In Solo Mayhem, these bonus prizes are awarded automatically upon looting Mayhem Star tokens to reach each of the point tiers. In FFA Mayhem, the bonus prizes are awarded when turning in FFA Mayhem Star tokens to one of the Santa’s Little Helper NPCs to reach each of the point tiers.

  • 500 Points - 50 PED Universal Ammo
  • 2000 Points - 200 PED Universal Ammo
  • 5000 Points - 500 PED Universal Ammo
  • 7500 Points - 750 PED Universal Ammo
  • 10000 Points - 1000 PED Universal Ammo

Rules & Notes
The Solo Mayhem category is intended for solo hunters. Any attempt at abusing team mechanics or any other Entropia Universe systems or features in order to gain an unfair advantage over other participants will be grounds for disqualification from the event, forfeiture of any prizes, and possible sanctions imposed on one’s Entropia Universe account.

Do not abandon the Merry Mayhem missions! If you abandon one of the event missions for any reason, intentionally or accidentally, all points earned up to that point will be lost forever and will not be included in your final event score. Support cannot and will not restore points for abandoned missions, regardless of the situation. Any time spent in the Solo Mayhem instances during the event period will be included in the normalized score calculation, regardless of whether the mission had been abandoned and points reset.

F.A.Q.

Q: If I experience a client crash, disconnection or other issue while in one of the Merry Mayhem instances, how will this affect my time calculation and/or final score?
A: All calculations are based on actual time connected to one of the event instances. In the case of a client crash or disconnection, time in the event instance will stop being counted within approximately 10 seconds of disconnection.

Q: Is it possible to win a prize in more than one category?
A: Yes. Everyone can participate in both the Solo and Free For All (FFA) Mayhem event categories.

So now we needs to loot Star tokens...oh okay..

But.. but.. you forgot to write the level req. for each category!.. Is it changed so like.. everyone can choose which category they want and there's just 1 first place for the solo event?

no more catagories! :( Just 1 Solo and 1 FFA and thats it. Not the MM as we know it where every different skill level has a chance of winning. Only good thing is no alts will be winning this year cats. Will be interesting to see the results and prices of the FFA tokens. But it sucks for those in the lower cats that worked on tiering their guns.

I'm not sure about the tokens as prizes tho, seems a bit unbalanced unless compared to the lower prize of 10k uni ammo. a Mod fap costs 3,5k to tier to 2.

Was hoping for more tempting prizes. Also it's not clear at all with categories/ prizes, at least for me.

Someone can explain?

EDIT: Also no one wants the tier upgrade token right, the prize below the tokens is 10k ped.. Like it would cost 10k ped to tier upgrade something 0_x

don't know why I'm complaining my 40dps isn't competitive in these events anyway.
 
Sad to see Solo has changed from 5 proper skills categories to choosing an instance and getting tokens like all the other rubbish events.

Oh well, good luck to those taking part. I won't be for the first time since it started :(
 
Nice chunk of UA. Tier upgrading tokens is a nice touch. Tier 5 would save me 8k lol.

Lmao so a fancy ring and then you're forced to cycle back your reward to get at best 90% of it back :D All in order for them to keep the money in-game as long as possible and the purpose of their webshop is to their pocket filled directly.

From a business point of view they sure know how to maximize their profit, gotta give them credit for that.
 
Yeah, the more I think about it the more I don't understand their decission. Killing the best team event and putting uni ammo as FFA prize to really discourage teams to take part. Just why?

tier2 upgrades to tier2, tier3 token to t3 and so on
although we now know what 2016 will contain...

But you could win a place and have the ammo which to turn into ped to turn into items you want to buy.
 
Ohh that sucks, wanted to really participate this year, but it seems i'll just be farming for some FFA tokens in a lower category :(
 
WHY DOESN'T MA REALIZE THAT HAVING LOTS OF OTHER PRIZES IN RANDOM POSITION DOWN THE LIST WILL INDUCE MANY MORE TO PLAY???

Look at the amount of participation those years we had prizes for 25th 50th etc.

Look at it now.

I swear to god they want this game to fail.

Seems to be do your damndest for 40 hours (to qualify) then buy as many Mayhem Star Tokens as you can afford to to place in the top 15.

It's an interesting twist certainly, removal of the categories makes all the non Uber's effectively farmers to sell to the Ubers - but will they be buying, and how much? :scratch2:
 
Ok, prices are somewhat nices. Everyone know the winners.
What will bring participation is the fact you can loot nice things in MM, and seriously, anywhere at anytime in EU during the whole year, not pseudo event waves. Lootings funny L rings should be nice but MA forgot the decay so that would be too awesome.

40 hour rule aplys only for the solo event. FFA has no time limit.
Im guessing the Winner in FFA will be the biggest Family, propably WSS or similar.
 
Pretty sure a lot of the ammo rewards are too high. 10k ped for 10k points as a bonus? Yeah pretty sure thats 1k ped

You're quite correct, thanks for the correction. I was just making the point you do have to do 40 hours in the Solo, you cant just buy the tokens.
