How are the looting skills put together

On Svarog: Taming technically is killing
taming doesn't count on mission counters, though, for example, so it's not absolutely clear... anyway, I'll go and do a few bristles again just so I can scratch my card ;).
 
I still do not understand, how my prof standings started when all 3 primaries were still on 1 skillpoint. I had robot looter level 14.9 and mutant and animal looter each at level 17.99. i never tamed, never really scanned, well i crafted electronics, but this should actually result in my robot prof standing be equal or higher instead of lower than the other 2.
Maybe dodge contributes to robot looter and evader contributes both to animal and mutant looter, just as dodge cntributes to dodger for bots and evade to evader level which are both used for animals and mutants.
Another explanation could be that anatomy contributes to Animal and Mutant Looter, but not to robot looter prof standing...

Dear Mods pls change the headlines to: How looter professions are put together


some personal thoughts, wishful thinking maybe, thats why i wont post it in the OP:

-From what i have seen so far, the new looter professions seem to work like evade for the pedcard. A high looter profession may actually mean those few extra % on your average turnover, that you need to break even longterm. How does that work out? Even though looter professions do not change the composition of loot (MA statement) it might reduce shrapnel TT to a certain percentage, and raise stackables TT with MU by the same %. So this chance on more MU might be what looter professions are all about.

-Concerns: IF looter profs can be handled like evader or dodger, it might be wise to hunt mob under your looter level. It may affect the triggering of appropriate loot for hunting at a too high level, just like in mining when you overamp for your skills and turnover. For a certain ammount of time, till you skilled up looter to the level of your normal gameplay you might be forced to hunt low, to skill up to the level of mob you are usually hunting.

had a chance to doublecheck perception last night, i finally finished Argonaut Iron:

28,75ped of Perception: 4995 --> 5222 = 227
animal looter level: 20.92 --> 21.13 = 0,21
(0,21/227)*100= 0,0925 = ~ 9%

A very good guesstimation for butchering is 10% contribution. I had it unlocked already after they implemented new system and now i have 3.52 times more skinning than butchering in TT value

I finished Oro Stage 4 and got Perception as a reward:
Perception goes from 3435.1 to 3561.8
Animal Looter : 15.8134 to 15.9274
Mutant Looter : 14.8768 to 14.9909
Robot Looter : 10.4062 to 10.5202
 
Mechanics contributes to Robot Looter.

I repaired my sleip first thing today; had only Vehicle Repairing and Mechanics skill gains, and Robot Looter popped up in the progress panel. Apart from the quite unlikely case of Vehicle Repairing, it's Mechanics, but the contribution is pretty small.

This is not true.
Zoology only affects Animal Looter. Not on Mutant Looter.
 
Was surprised that lvl 30 animal looter unlocked xenobiology. Now its motivated me to scan lol.

Also gentics contribute to mutant looter posted it in other thread and my harvesting thread.

So it seems you now can only get skillups in looter profession, when you actually dmg a mob for more than 50%, kill and harvest it.

I couldnt ask my petfriends yet, if you gain looter skillups on a successful taming attempt.

good question, well i wrote that 50% thing to make sure you can loot the animal. Somebody who is doing shared should try out and report us

But you don't get Xenobiology from looting, which is odd. Of course, you don't get anything other than the main skill and the one unlock either...

Not sure if this adds anything new but thought I'd contribute because of the large TT value of the skill.

Just finished Hogglo mission and received 200 PED anatomy reward.

Skill/profession before and after.
Anatomy: 9728,10 ---> 9967,62
Animal Looter: 38,6003 ---> 38,7679
Mutant Looter: 27,2844 ---> 27,4520
Robot Looter: 22,2381 ---> 22,2381

Verified both members of a duo can get skill gains on a loot event even if the loot distribution is quite off 50/50. I suspect that whoever does loot it gets more skills on average though; but haven't yet had time for a controlled test.

Yes, you do.

On a tangentially related note, I also suspect combat skill gain boosts affect looting skill gains as well.
