Is there a link or a guide to tell me how the Land Areas work?

My biggest concern is when I am standing on a hill does the probe just proble empty air beside me or does it go to the base next the hill then go down the appropriate meters from the base.....

Does anyone know how mining on a cliff/hill works? If I am on a hill does my probe only detect from the top of the hill down? or for that matter if I am in a valley does it only detect from the base of the valley where I am standing down or will it detect up the side of the mountain??? Please...

I've been on the game for about 2 months now and I still sweat regularly. I did notice a distinct difference from true newbie status to a skill of 100 or so, in getting the sweater to activate more frequently.

I hang out in both forums.... and sometimes I don't want to post the totally ignorant question amongst my peers ;)
