    The Curious Case of Redulite

The thing is that it is the other way around: You can use the hit rate to predict MU, but this is always an delayed effect. Some years ago when Dianthus was still at around 170%, I noticed that if my last few hundred drops produced very low hit rate of Dianthus, the MU would usually shoot up by...

    The Curious Case of Redulite

This is basically how I believe the simplest algorithm that worked in the past: you drop a probe, the server rolls a dice to tell if you hit something and and in the 27-30% chance that you did, it calculates a depth based on your finder (a normal distribution with about 100m stdev from the avg...

    The Curious Case of Redulite

I seriously hope that it was a mistake, as if this was intentional that would bring terrible implications to the market that MA is willing to forcibly manipulate the markup of items with violent measures, and that would give people second thoughts before purchasing high markup items. This...

    Redulite...the new EP4?

With this wave system, you may as well just set up an alert on EntropiaLife when Redulite starts globaling and go do something else when there is nothing happening, like the crowd of miners gathering at Shinook right now probably waiting for the next wave to start. This is basically the...

    Redulite...the new EP4?

Well true, in retrospect most people will constantly make more profit per hour working than doing any activities in-game. Still, even if the market crashed, I think most of those miners are just going to hoard these Redulite until the MU slowly climbs back, even slowly selling this stock at 200%...

    Redulite...the new EP4?

Has this auto TT on inactivity thing ever happened to anyone? I know many people and myself have gone inactive for years and came back and still have all the items. AFAIK MA has always messed with the drop rate of Redulite for years, sometimes you could only find very few small claims here and...

Question: Is all decay included when hunting?

I wonder how long the extra decay is kept. You could try 1) relog 2) TP to another server 3) wait an hour between step 3 and 4 and see if the decay is returned. This could give some insight into the loot algorithm.

    How big are "resource areas"?

Resource areas can vary in sizes, the smaller ones I have mapped are about 500m~1km in width, but they can also be as big as server. Note that I define resource areas as the area one particular kind of resource (e.g. Belkar) can spawn. Occasionally there will be a narrow lyst/oil belt...

Well, it is back on Google's warning list.

Will we ever see the Behemoth?

Are there even PE-era developers that are still employed by MA? I'm just curious.

FYI: LBML Updater - Trojan Content

Yes, I suppose part of the reason it isn't open sourced is that he doesn't want people to easily submit falsified data, but honestly I don't think it will stop really dedicated people. I also wonder why MA doesn't just open an API for 3rd-party programs when they are vetting these tools. It...

    Legends' Hunting Blog!

Don't forget that items can only listed on auction at whole PEDs. You can list it at 9 PED (104.8%) and end up getting only 8.5 PED out of it after the 0.5 PED auction fee, which is worse than TT'ing it. You can also list it at 10 PED (116.4%) which is already way above average MU so you need...

FYI: LBML Updater - Trojan Content

They do: https://www.planetcalypso.com/planet-calypso/community-sites/tools/ Although it's not clear how often they actually re-evaluate these tools, and knowing MA I guess the answer is never or only upon request. Unless MA carefully reviews the code on every update, it's always possible that...

FYI: LBML Updater - Trojan Content

I agree. I think all MA approved third-party tools should be open source (the client side that interfaces with the game directly at least) so they can be audited by the public. LBML is pretty much just OCR + mining claim database that also feeds your data back to their servers. The billion...

Mining after the september patch 2019

Ok, so that was an undocumented or player-observed change I think. Interestingly I found mining to be not much different compared to 2016 in terms of volatility, although most of the good stuffs seem to be greatly restricted right now unless you target some very specific areas and can hit the...

Mining after the september patch 2019

Pardon me, but, what is this september 2019 change that everyone keeps talking about? I see only VU 16.5 is released on that month but the release notes doesn't really say anything about mining.

    Entropia on Linux

FYI: You can start Entropia.exe directly without using the client loader by passing --run as a parameter: $ wine bin64/Entropia.exe --run Obviously you still need the client loader for VU updates and stuffs. I found this while trying to use apitrace on EU, which didn't seem to inject itself...

    Entropia on Linux

The terrain flickering issue is fixed an hour after I reported it to dxvk. :yay: So now the only issue left is the sound in 64-bit client.

    Entropia on Linux

It turns out the texture flickering bug was caused by DXVK. :ahh: Using wine's default D3D11 implementation works but comes at a huge performance cost (halved fps) and extreme lag when viewing the item information window. I will try to capture an API trace and report it to DXVK.

    Entropia on Linux

Surely I will let you know if I manage to get sound working. Playing with 32-bit client is not really an option since it runs out of memory really fast, but at least I mostly mine so having no sound doesn't impact me as much. Did you ever encounter the graphics glitch (flickering terrain) I...

    Entropia on Linux

Sound still doesn't work on 64-bit client, which is strange because I seem to recall it working at some point, or maybe my memory is just wrong. It is also not just flat out no sound, I still get the background wind which is very quiet and occasionally some animal sound does get through, and the...

    Entropia on Linux

I gave this a shot again. This time I'm using RX 590 (amdgpu) as eGPU connected to my XPS 13 via TB3. Clean prefix with latest wine and only DXVK installed works out of the box. The only issue is that I've been getting flickering texture in the distant terrain since about a year ago. At that...
