What about how loot balance in MMOs really works?

Here is one more

  1. Ask someone to pick a card from a standard deck and memorize it.
  2. Tell them to place the card back into the deck.
  3. Shuffle the deck thoroughly.
  4. Spread the cards out face down and ask them to point to any card.
  5. Once they've chosen a card, turn it over dramatically... and it's their chosen card!

What i understand is: you are saying that "all the cards are the same for everyone".
If thats the case then i do agree that rng treats all the same (except for efficiency, looter and dpp modifiers for hunting). And it was what i said in previous conversation, with Adventurer, about mining also.
What i dont understand are Alinas remarks in regards of it. Is he trying to say the same as you and me, but cant bother to tune in for context of my initial message?

For the golden boys yeah but AVERAGE player can expect alot less because who cycles 50million ped average player??? Essentially their topping up the loot pool to sustain golden boys short term by which time most would have chucked in towel and quit.
 
it is easy to test...
get an EP1 card... load 440 ped nanocube (actually 432) start craft 21600 items (just one day 40 eur experiment)
and see return....

now start Argonauts codex from zero (any monster is ok, just for explanation)

I think this is misleading because fact that someone can hit 515k ath and not really put in that amount and never put that amount back in would effect people's TT returns as it comes from a unified loot pool which favours the more skilled anyways normally.

While increased event instances helps theirs alot more to it then that and it's in certain people's interests to misguide to a certain extent for their own gains.

Thats not true.
More looting events you have, closer youll get to the "true mean" (expressed in ~95% on this video, as a sum of all the outcomes).
That "average" is always the same. There is no evidence of any preferential treatement on higher TT cycling.
The only way for you to affect your final TT outcome is by liquidating an account "mid cycle".

if 95% is the true average then looter/gun-eff matter a lot less than is generally thought. or that 95% is against some specific benchmark (say, max looter prof and 55% eff guns, or 90% eff gun and 20 looter prof, or something else). who knows. everyone is working from a different total loot efficiency.

98.5% TT return can almost be made up just by converting shrapnel.

doesn't seem possible that EU would even be making much money if the rake were that small on average.

Oh they are, its not about the 95% or 98%

that's just for show, when they flick the switch and shut returns down for 3 weeks or a month in a row for everyone, they make way way more, They can and do literally as they see fit, there is absolutely nothing honest and fair about their system. This has happened time and time again.

The only person or people who loose when YOU stop shooting is the ones that have the top gear and are emptying the pot which you are filling by carrying on shooting.

If that pot is empty they cant take anything out, so what do they say carry on shooting carry on depositing and loosing and when you complain they always have some statement on the ready...How many time have you heard this

Oh you didn't cycle 2 trillion peds
Oh you didn't sit there shooting 23.59 mins a day for 3 years
oh you missed the wave
oh its dynamic.....

imagine sat in a casino on a machine spinning away and you are loosing, you think your buddy well wisher passer by at the casino is going to say put more money in and keep spinning? is that the advice your well wisher would give you?

No that's the advice someone who wants you to fill the machine up will give you, as they sit and wait like the hyena that they are so when you move they empty it...Same principle when they say you loose when you stop shooting, An indirect way of keep filling her up.

STOP SHOOTING and DEPOSITING until these cretins get their act straight.

For hunting you can think of the 95% in the video explanation as being dynamic from 86% to an impossible 100% based on Efficiency and Looter.

You'll never have 100% returns because there are no 100% Efficient weapons and there are only very few high Efficiency ones available so MindArk will always make rake.

Even so, they can always manipulate it how they want behind the scenes. You know... It all depends on what you say in chat, on the forums, how much rake you're generating and how good you are at luring new folks in to generate further rake. You don't want your account flagged the wrong way! Haha

So true this although on certain things you can't tell how someone is doing ped wise and if your like me tend to do a bit misdirection 😉

I don't know why but lately I've been on a kick listening to people's las vegas stories. Apparently a lot of players in the casinos, especially on the slots, have the weirdest superstitions.
  • a guy who thought if he won he needed to drive far enough away from the first casino for the slot machine to "forget" him so that it wouldn't try to "claw back"
  • another guy who would step about 10 feet back from the slot machine, then whisper into the coin slot "new player" to "fool" the slot machine
  • people who would use their finger to "draw" good luck symbols on the screens before spinning
  • people who thought you had to "warm up" a machine before it would pay out
at the end of the day what most of those people didn't realize is that it would be way harder and way more error-prone to set up a system like that, and it would be pretty easy to discover the behavior through testing, if it were true. it's just easier to make it based on probability.

Man .... MA does not make money on the rake... they make money on SENIORAGE
MA is the only entity allowed to print ped
on every year MA sell 100m ped (example) and accounts 30m DEBIT for statistical WITHDRAWED PED
some items can never be withdrawed
examples
UL armors MUST remain full TT for best protection, the TOTAL TT Value of UL armors will never be subkect to withdraw
same for BP TT value ... no one will withdraw it

Cycle profit:
1% of Cycle can be in absoluite terms HUGE return
i mean average EP4 crafter cycle 20*900*24 = 432.000 ped per day if non stop click... 1% is 4320 (397 EUR * 365 = 144.900 € just for 1% off one 24/h per day EP4 card) ok ok no one click but the community on average has 1 ep4 card active all day (probably more)
MA is a small company, profit is jut 3m per year, so just need 20 EP4 at 1% rake to make the deal

a normal hunter with 200k per month cycle pay to the system his 200.000*0.02/10/1.0875 * 12 = 4.413 € in hunting tax
at 1.5%.... so no need for conspiration theory

5k hunters produce 22.000.000 eur so its easy to see that actual hunters are less than 2500 and crafting is less than 20 EP4 equivalent.

if game reaches 20k hunters and 100 EP4 equivalent MA skyrocjed to Blizzard annual income.....
and i suppose this is the aim of UE5 conversion
