abuse by pirate using summonfucntion

Support case raised.

Thumbs down gesture shown in the "Ancient Rome" meaning.

had the same today , suport case in the works same guy also

Would it be easier to put in coding where you must accept invitation to be on guestlist before you can be summoned? Add coding that would mean you cannot be added to any guest list without first clicking acceptance on a form that says name of ship and name of owner. Even if the coding would have to do this for all guest lists of all vehicles lets do it the one extra step to accept is worth it to ward off criminals. And yes it is criminals if you taken into pvp against your will and you get looted it is criminal activity not piracy. Let us be clear about that. It is my hope that MA will do 2 things: return the property illegally stolen and banning criminals from the game.

THIS!
It could be THAT simple.
Why doesn't MA implement it? ...why should they.
Think of all the ped they're making from the teleport fees alone.
Unfortunately this also means fewer players as more and more people leave EU in disgust.

As a side-note, we should remove ourselves from the player-register in advance, maybe that'll prevent them from re-adding us?

Today arrived to Caly. Recieved several summons (5-7 in 15 mins) (i think he add us to list being on Caly SS). SC written...with a cry for help and the request to ban.

That is serious exploit, this guy should be banned for life.

I did not read whole thread so not sure if it was not proposed earlier, here is something you could do to lower chance of getting targeted by this scum:
go to options, privacy and hide your online status in player/mentor register

While it's not perfect solution, this might decrease chances of being targeted. Meanwhile let's see what will MA do about that...

I have nothing against pirates who play this game fair, but this is obvious a tactict that harasses ppl. What bothers me most is that he does it over and over again. Clearly interfearing with ppls gameplay. I really hope he gets a permaban and the pathfinder will be confiscated by MA. Just to put a little bit of preasure, I will not log in for a couple of days, I hope this way it opens their eyes that this kind of actions really harms the game.

Same ... Entropia Universe is not safe to play atm ...

(making myself invisible in player register is perhaps an option, however i do want to be able to be contacted by buyers/sellers, so again, not-playable atm)

Support case sent

but exploits ARE allowed, according to what we see happen in game every day....

Sadly true :(

MindArk needs to fix that if they ever want a NASA contract or anything even close.

If everyday for 5 years, you played cards at bills house. Then one day while your sitting at the table, a guy hits you in the back of the head, and steals your wallet. Bill says yeah from now on this is an aggressive house, where you will be robbed if you come play...why would you return to bills house?

and why would you not blame bill, for creating a hostile environment, I think the more you enjoyed playing cards at bills, the more it would aggravate you, now that you can no longer enjoy the card game. obviously Bill works at MA, because all he cares about is getting your wallet, not providing you a fun safe place to play cards.

In this case you might even be able to sue Bill, if not for the long scroll he keeps shoving in everyone's face every time they go inside; which has a small paragraph on it which reads that any money entering the house is "legally" considered his.

im pretty sure, (not 100%) when u get a summons u can just stick that box down in the corner and leave it there, so any subsequent summons wont bother u

Unfortunately, the OK button is located about one and the same place in all windows, and can be pressed accidentally, clicking anything else! Why should I do anything that must do MA? Support case updated 3 times... with screenshot...

Not true, if you see my pic in post #181, you'll see they keep coming even if you dont answer. :(

that's is my point exactly, we the players the miners, hunters, explorers, traders, adventurers, sweaters, etc. played for many many years, with out having packs of roving thieves( allowed by purposefully built game mechanics) to aggressively remove us from our PED.

Sure its impossible to build a 100% exploit proof game system. Most players I think understand and except this. and there will always be abusers and cheats in any system.

The problem is when the owners of the game, design MORE ways for the thieves, abusers and cheats to harm the players. sure an exploit or a scam is going to happen...but for the developers to on purpose build a system of travel, designed so every participant is subjected to attacks, theft, and harassment, at the hands of thugs, pirates, thieves and cheats..that is when I take issue.

Its not that the "bad" guys exist, its that MA created them a playground to play in, and populated it with us normal players.

seems like your using this opportunity to attack lootable pvp/piracy in general? I can't agree on that despite being looted in space I can see that it adds something to the game.
I do agree that this is MA's responsibility though, in that they have an obligation to protect us users from malicious people that would exploit etc. Just as microsoft have a responsibility to protect from hackers etc. MA have the responsibility to protect there user base from malicious individuals, be they players or just opportunists.

..Yeah, looks like they need to try a bit harder.. ¬_¬

Leave the new players alone

The whole thing sucks, but when you do it to new players who doesn't have a PED to there name, that is criminal. I travel in space a lot, get shot down a lot. It's no big deal to me. I'm also a crew member on a privateer so am use to seeing summons, and accepting or declining them. Yesterday morning I was TPing out from the Privateer to the SS when I noticed maybe 10 avatars in noobie orange wandering around the Caly SS in absolute confusion as to how they got there. It appears that they unknowingly accepted a summons from the Starfinder XXXII. Most of these folks had never been further than Camp Icarus, and probably didn't even know space existed. They had no Quad, no PED and only the sweat they had been sweating probably hours to get, so they could maybe sell it for a little PED. I first tried to ferry them down in my quad, but of course the pirates were waiting, and certainly looted their sweat. So after the second attempt to get them to Caly, I just had them line up and gave each 7 PED to use the TP. Hopefully a few of those won't just quite the game. I did see one asking how to delete his avatar. It is one thing to prey on folks who have been around a while and know how things work, quite another to prey on someone who is completely new and has no idea what is going on.

There are two things that can happen that may cause me to lose faith in this game and never deposit again.

#1) If ALL of the "players" involved in this exploit only get a slap on the wrist.

Let's face it, everyone involved in this latest exploit are all just as guilty as the other. Whether you were shooting down the XX32 or were on planet looking for victims shouldn't matter.
Just because one of them has made more deposits than the next SHOULD NOT matter. They all need to face the exact same consequence. Of course, this will be MA's decision, but a slap on the wrist will just encourage them to work harder and smarter on their NEXT great exploit.

#2) I have heard in the past that MA rarely EVER gives ped back to exploit victims. If you ask me, their design of the game is to blame on why anyone could be exploited from this in the first place, and therefore I feel it should be their responsibility to reimburse everyone who was a victim, whether MA gets the peds back from the exploiters or not. If their reaction time was swifter, they may very well have gotten the ped back. As of now, no post has even been made regarding these incidents.

Whether this is a game or not, we are dealing with REAL MONEY! What these exploiters have done is not much different than them coming up from behind, smashing a bottle over your head, and stealing the wallet out of your pocket while you lay unconscious, IMO. The victims were totally unprepared and unaware, there was nothing fair about it.

MA, it is time to make examples of all of these wrongdoers and to do the right thing, and I will leave it at that.

Agreed.

Now if it would be possible, I'ld like to have some kind of followup thread to inform us about the state of their punishment and what's being done to salvage this screwup.

And depending on the actions implemented, I believe this will either improve our trust in the game or put another hole in the ship.

Look in your CHAT log for the name of the pirate who killed you

For all of you who were fraudulently summoned to a pirate ship - check in your CHAT log for the name of the pirate who killed you. Include this name in your support case. You can send in a support case even if you had no loot stolen.

Mind Ark may want to consider (as a temporary measure) cancelling pvp in space as a way to show the Entropia Universe community that they are serious about dealing with the summoning fraud scheme.

Today is Monday, so the weekend is finished. I'm sure some thing will happens, today! But, don't forget, that they have holidays also.

By the end of the day I might missclicking withdraw button...Is not safe hunting/mining/crafting...doing trades(player vs player an auctiones) because I might missclicking summon message... If is not safe ain't playing!

Agreed, but just out of curiosity... those pirates are Nebula Virus people (Windy owns the discussed privateer), who work together with another pirate soc: temporal destinies.

Now I may have understood this wrong but afaik your society, temporal initiates, is the baby soc of temporal destinies (nebula virus) no?

MA is as much to blame as pirates.. it takes em so long to take actions on cases like this that should be fixed right away and not week after when the dmg has already been done or like in most cases fix in the next vu.. maybe

Thanx to OP, i got an early warning. Another nice person noticed it and sent me the link.

So i was prepared. Made a quick decision - what would i do if i get summon next moment?
Was hunting in a secluded area, decided to drop all my loot on the ground and accept the summon... u know, just for fun. Besides, i believe the best way to pay back scammers is to turn their own tactic against them - that's the language they can understand for sure :wtg:

As for the real solution, we'll see... Windy got PvP HoF at 14 ppl killed shortly after the initial vawe of summons. Guess the one who lost 5k was among em... :( He absolutely MUST have this loot back!

Reading that makes my blood boil.
These guys need their computers shoving so hard where the sun don't shine.

If MA does not sort this out, they will lose more than just new players trying the game out for a few days.

oh well :( well its monday now so dont worry MA will rush in like the cavalry and save the day ;)

Goodmorning Mindark, it is monday morning and it is time to wake up.

Holiday in Sweden?
Normally they let migration go on and on and start fixing stuff again end of August/Beginning of september..

So, I would expect an emergency meeting by now on this. I can imagine a heated argument on whether to take the simplest step or not as a temporary measure - turn off space pvp!
It goes too much against what MA seem to want, BUT.... they could switch off summoning. I wonder if they actually have a programmer at work able to do either of those things?

Now I'm not saying I like the idea - I don't! - because once the initial threat has been stopped it will take them ages to do anything further, meaning that MS services will be crippled until some kind of patch comes. Still, that is my one expectation.

The other possibility is that MA does nothing and we have the lowest cld payment ever next time round, because this hole is simply too big!

And one more option seems plausible too, but I don't want to go there, as they say. We shall see....

MA will collect evidence on who did this and ban them all. It's the easiest and fastest way to stop it.

I really dont see what the problem is here for MA

1.Ban the exploiters (2 minute job)
2.Return all looted items to looted players (there will be logs so . maybe take a bit longer a day or so)
3.Turn off space PVP(10 second job)
4.Fix issues(couple of days I would think)

If they dont do this , im seeing a massive problem for EU.

Exploits? Abuse? Cheating?

Who'd thought legalizing REAL theft wouldn't have a few hiccups....

MindArk. I understand you are basically thieves in your own rights but encouraging others to be actual criminals? Man that's just diabolical.

May the Lord have mercy on your souls.

Possible solution for players, who misclick :)

If shit happen, you have the last opportunity to save something (sweet is irrelevant)

For Privateers to make a summon is required to be docked to the Planet Calypso Space Station (or other planet SS).

There's no PvP.

On each ship must be a Trade Terminal (near Teleport, you cannot use TP because ship will be in space quick) on the wall.

Your task - to found it in those 10-20-30 seconds until the Privateer will fly to PVP zone and pass all the loot (of the sections of Materials and Mined Resources) in TT, turning it into money.

Then your lost will only be for the cost of MU loot and teleport to the planet.

If I'm not mistaken, PPs do not get any percentage whatsoever of any activity that takes place in space, it all goes to MA, because they are the creators of space, etc., etc., etc. :wise:

I wonder how this will affect their decision-making if I'm correct. :scratch2:

I definitely have thoughts about this mess, but I will include them in the piece I'm writing for MSM. In the meantime, I hope that MA gets this sorted fast, there are permanent bans, and people get their loot back. I'm not holding my breath though ...
