Support reply them working on cases :)

1. File a police report.
2. Ask for the case number
3. Send to Mind Ark.
4. Mind Ark will lock the account because offender will be considered to be under police investigation.

haha :D *tearful voice* "hello 999? help me plz, pirates stole my sweat and dung!!"

Perfect if you live in Sweden. Otherwise, Jurisdiction issues, which cost far more than a couple thousand to get into court, because it would have to be in Swedish court, per eula, and a couple of other reasons....

That said, pretty sad deal, I had to remove myself from alot of ships before the last change just to avoid the mis-clicks that just happen with the normal schedule spam of a few ships.

Where to be most careful?
Auction. Its very easy to go clicking an item near the middle of the screen (where auction focuses), or even on the accept bid/set price arrows, and get the summon window as you do it.

New crafting UI is far more prone to get a misclick due to the nature of the window position and the BP table.

Mining window can sometimes align wrong too.

Hunting I don't find nearly as bad, but I use number keys more often than mouse.

Ban the pirates, and lock anyone who traded with them, until cleared.
Return the lost peds, fix the bug, and game on imo.

This is why the "OMG why 45 day withdrawl!!!" actually kicks ass. Its there to protect you from scammers being able to withdrawl before it could be investigated.

Space has a larger design, and with what we have in place, needs to remain pvp, until more functional features get put in to help avoid the necessary pvp structure, or at least make it clearly optional pvp under every circumstance.

I no longer see any of the threads about this exploit on the general topic forum. Maybe it's just me...?

If someone deleted/removed/merged all the threads here, what is wrong with you?!

Anyone who hasn't played all weekend will never just come to the security topic of the forum and will have no way of knowing what the hell is going on with this exploit!

Of course, not everyone in the game even reads the forum, BUT the general topic was a much better place for this thread so players would be warned about this.

Let's not try to hide this information from the community. Please keep this thread where people are more likely to read it and know about what is going on than where it is, at least until MA finally wakes up and creates their own post on this issue specifically!

Temp ban them for investigation

and

if logs show the use of a feature to exploit the game which they didn't report before using several times causing serious disturbances of the economy or for the players of this virtual universe.

PERMANENT BAN of that account is the correct procedure for MA imho.

Otherwise how will MA be looked upon by newcommers who are deciding if they are going to deposit.

:scratch2: Yeah I merged 3 (4?) threads about the same subject so it would be better to follow. And yeah, I moved the thread to the security section. Most folks use the "new post" button or forum spy anyway.

Dude, your post asking me not to hide this is post #244 of a thread boasting over 13,500 views. Plus being the catylyst of me (and many others) getting multiple PMs ingame warning about this issue.

If I was trying to hide it, I did a REALLY bad job.

Filing police report and submitting this to your MA support case re: summoning scam

I never said calling the police, reporting the crime, and asking for case number or equivalent will get you your money back. The point of doing this is to submit it to Mind Ark so they know officially there is police report. I know many of you have other then english as your mother tongue so you are easily confused as to what I am really trying to say.

To sum up: Report the crime to police then submit this to MA as a means to give MA the ammunition they need to confiscate ill gotten gains and to permaban the criminals.

In Canada there is no charge for filing a police report. So if I had been summon scammed of course I would call police, get report (free) submit to MA with my support case.

I think the settings you see control only whether you have the maps, content and areas pre-loaded on your machine.

I once had to wait a couple of minutes at calypso "atmosphere" as a sitting duck because the person I was flying down to calypso from mothership didn't have Calypso map loaded...

This is kind'a a trap to for beginners. Let's say a beginner comes from Arkadia and he wants to go to calypso for the first time. He takes a mothership, and when mothership approaches Calypso he joins one of the rides down (for free). Then if he or the pilot doesn't Think about it in advance, the shuttle pilot will press "Yeah I want to land" button, leaving the beginner-level passenger floating in space (and eventually reviving at mothership or possibly space station).

Because it's dangerous to hang around in space this should be changed. It should be possible to land on a planet. It's probably better at that Point to be relocated to planet and disconnected (so client loader can load needed maps) than to remain in lootable pvp.

Another thing would be setting the boxes of "do you want to land on xxx" automatic the same way it works for Asteroid/CP. Maybe make it an optional setting. Also a possibility to pay with ammo or something would be nice in case PED card reads like 0.59 ped but you have 102 ped in ammo.

And while they're at it, please make reviving in space foolproof and docking to cnd/cp and such foolproof. You don't want to become cannonfodder and then floating around for Days because a server has a hickup.

1. File a police report.

Stop. this is not a police matter. this is a MA matter, it is in their rules that you dont harrass or exploit, and this is blantantly both. it just shows that MA doesnt give much care about its player base that this happens for more than a day without the perpetrators being locked while it is investigated.

What they did was evil...Is up to MA now...Also who traded with them these days for the stackables might have a temp ban ...Who will trade with them in the next days he might be in the same situation...This was an exploit!
Nostrot exploited the game ....some of players got a temp ban and inverted the trades...Do not exploit the game!

gah, caly market has become stagnant due to people afraid to play.

WTF WINDY WHY!

gah, caly market has become stagnant due to people afraid to play.

WTF WINDY WHY!

for me it is more: MA WHY!?

The door was fairly wide open already as it was. The last one I know of was the taking of noobs into space to be looted - except that I believe the noobs were 'invited' to join in those cases. It was just a small step to adding just anybody (at an event, crafting, at auction, out mining - whatever) and hoping to be able to surprise them and get their loot.

The threshold of a problem seems to be a massive problem for the MA collective brain, as they are now resistant to pain it seems. People may leave the game because of it (should equal pain to MA), but MA seem immune to sensing damage these days, let alone potential damage.

This is maybe the biggest attack we have yet seen on players who are trying to play in a safe environment, but we don't even hear from them. Is it the wrong month of the year for action, or what?

Oh, on moving the thread to security: it may be that 'most' people click on new posts to find interesting things to read, BUT in cases like this, EVERYTHING should be done to warn people of this. It is not a question of hiding something, but it is certainly less accessible to readers here, surely? So quite literally 'a bad move' in my opinion - at least until there is a clearer warning somewhere!

Because its in his and every pirates nature to be so short sighted of the future they can even see past the end of their nose.

Yes the pirates may have had a 5 minute buzz out of this behaviour but in the long term it will affect them more than they realise .

Now we cue a couple of them coming to this thread with a picture or a statement of laughing or a "i dont give a f*** message".

You wait and see , they are so predicatable.

Unfortunately for them , I think they may have under estimated MA's predictability.

Don't make exploiters as root of all evil.

Stagnant market already here for TWO MONTHS or so, due to migration and fucked up CoS in craft.

In a short perspective, the players who are really Active aren't so much impacted by this. I Think the pirates doing this visits some Places with lots of Clueless easy beginners, rather than going out on eomon field or the Cyclops depths. (So far I haven't received any invite to the pirate ship, for instance.)

In the longer run it's worse if let's say a lot of 3 week old players decide to quit because of this, it means 3 weeks lost of advertising and players who probably will never return. So in say 6 months it can cause a stagnant economy.

Also I guess older players are used to those "annoying" summon popups and either just think, "sigh", or are alert enough to react quickly if they accidently have accepted that summon.

AFAIK, if you are in an instance you don't get any summons at all. I wonder if everyone should 'run for the caves'? ;)
Also, I heard that an event for 'higher skilled' players was targetted, so people taking part were annoyed at the very least. I didn't hear of any of these players accepting by mistake or clicking on screen at exactly the wrong time...

If the guest list is 500 ppl, then obviously you may stay off it by chance anyway.

Yes, it's bad if people quit who may otherwise stay around for years - but this place has never really rocketed, has it? I would even expect MA to introduce loot called 'the last straw' at some point if things go on like this...
(or that you get it in your inventory if you are looted). Note: this is just an attempt to think more 'crazily' than MA, but I'm not sure I'm able to.... (non-native speakers of English may need to ask a friend what the last straw is...)

One idea that im sure is possible but may take some work on MA's part is to make available "loot bombs" that can be carried in inventory . If you get looted in space then the pirate loots the bomb , it goes off, they die and you get all their loot .

Would act as a nice deterrent, and could also make space a bit more polulated.

Alternatively, disable the storage function for adding together alike stackables (forgot what its called) for dung only. Then if anyone feels like being abducted carrying a shitbomb (lots and lots of individual stacks of 1 common dung) and nothing else that could really annoy these thieves.

By the way, MindArk, its three days now and still waiting.

I hope Windy will be punished

The solution from MA's standpoint is to check Windy and Starfinder XXXII's log files, and if he's found to have been doing what's he's accused of, put a hold on him and then widen the net so to speak.

Disabling the summon function in certain instances will likely happen BUT....

1. If MA doesn't do anything, they will alienate some people.

2. If MA starts banning people left and right, it will alienate more people.

3. If MA starts making wholesale code changes, it will alienate a lot of people AND really piss off the MS owners....AND introduce more bugs...

So MA needs to be cautious and thorough, and take one step at a time. The support cases are a place to start. They clearly show Windy sending multiple summons and logs will confirm this.

Banning people left and right and making tons of code changes will just make the situation much worse.

If you really feel threatened by Windy, log out for a few days.

1. If MA do nothing then they tell the whole community that they aren't bothered, or are incapable of acting. And this is apparently where we are at. People are talking of no longer depositing, not participating, etc. And who can blame them when a mis-click could see them relieved of their stuff, against their will, in a location they possibly never intended to be.

2. That would alienate some people, but it would also indicate to the rest of the community that something was being done.

3. Who mentioned wholesale code changes? Disabling the summonse will be an inconvenience to MS owners, but all are surely aware of what has happened.

If you really feel threatened by Windy, log out for a few days.
I'm already mostly in space and so I don't feel particularly threatened. But many don't want to lose their loot unfairly. Imagine if news of this abuse gets out in to the wider world and we start seeing sensationalist stories of people being robbed in a RCE game.

Ultimately, I don't want to see EU die on its arse through MindArk not communicating with us what they are (not) doing about this situation.

One idea that im sure is possible but may take some work on MA's part is to make available...

...some customer support people to lock the offenders and communicate they are looking at the problem. MA dont need to come up with clever counter threats, they simply need to enforce their own damn EULA. they do fast enough when someone does something cool but that impacts them, like wormhole people to the astroid.

Ernestj has been reported over and over, for many years. anyone really think this latest scam will change anything?

Who says MA is doing nothing? MA has responded to several people who have submitted tickets that they are looking at the situation. MA needs to establish the facts. This is troubleshooting, investigating, communicating 101.

Overreacting on the ban side or no action side will just make the situation worse. And anything they publish will be spun one way or another to no end. The best thing MA can do ATM is to let those that have submitted tickets know they are looking into it, audit the log files and take appropriate action.

People talk about not depositing, quitting, etc after every update. Loud ppl on the forum does not make it reality. At most, I have some soc mates that are concerned. Their solution is to take a break for a few days until things get sorted out. Not a bad idea.

Maybe, but I formed in SC the main request - to remove me from the Starfinder XXXII guest list!

Yes, the ship that was used for the exploit will be returned to MA

The avatar will be banned permanently and those who made trades with him will be temporarely banned until MA decides that a full investigation (which sometimes take months) was made .

2. If MA starts banning people left and right, it will alienate more people.

Banning people that continously try to break the system apart without consideration for MA best interests (perception of safety and fairness in the virtual universe)
only will be seem as bad for those who don't care for Entropia Universe future.

You are joking here right? I'm not saying you are wrong, but most all replies as of yet have just been the form letters we all get. Support really can't do all that much now since MA is on vacation and I'm guessing that this will not call MA back to work anytime soon -- which yes it should.
