Assignment System upcoming

Let's give them a chance before we judge, I think we are starting to see the new and improved FPC, they are taking steps in the right direction.

New and Improved FPC, yeah I totally agree with that.:yay:

Unfortunately though it's MA who is in charge of the money...:deal:

Agree ;) but how about ........Beacons :dodge:

one of the first assignments/missions/quests should be to figure out when we're going to get back our mindforce abilities.

otherwise, these will turn out just like the mindforce.

partially implemented .. for who knows how long.

second mission should be to hardboil that stupid egg.

So how much is THIS brainfart gonna cost us?

ohh, it'll cost all right ....it'll cost...

But judging from the neg-rep responses to my post above, we are apparently supposed to just bend over and take it with a smile.

Oh yes, please MA, do it again.

Sounds like a good idea to me, especially for new players. :)

We have been complaining for ages that MA/FPC do not do enough to motivate new players to stay in the game. I think the assignment system is a good step in that direction.

We are being a bit quick to judge something that has only just been announced.

Cheers :beerchug:

nah, duck (tape) the mentoring until everything else is implemented well enough to get the masses of new blood in! ;)

J.

A little bit more information would have been cool, specifying it is only for "noobs" is providing negative perceived information to the community.

Also not sure if it this is a good thing, starting with noobs only
Seasoned avatars could give a lot of valuable feedback I guess ?

I'll stay positive :)

The concept of a quest system is of course a good idea and a proven success in MMOs, no question about that. Calypso badly needs one to stay competitive. I agree.

What's being judged & criticized is the proven track record of MA (NOT FPC) to, with frightening regularity and consistency, invent new ways to greedily suck ever more money out of the playerbase whilst wildly spinning their new thing as some kind of benefit to us.

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that they will take something as innocuous and time proven like a simple quest system and pervert it into just another sickening grab for ever more peds.:vampire:

Again -- this is not about FPC. Or the concept itself of a much-needed quest system.

This is about MA. Judged. And convicted by its own consistent actions.

:computer:

i wonder if only hunters can do these quests

like most events from MA

Good to see you guys turn all your attention to bringing back all the old missing features/systems instead of adding new, not even finished stuff.....

oh wait

*sigh*

Anyone can partake in the assignments but their theme/style in the first preview batch is newcomer-ish. It is expectation management. =)

Fair enought...
The sooner we have something for noob , the better.
Its nice that everyone can try it out and have fun with that new feature.I was afraid there is some cap preventing older player to participe.

After the turd that tiers turned out to be I'm not getting my hopes up for this one. But I will still be happy to take a look at it and give it a chance at least.

The obvious question here is... what are the rewards going to be? Will you earn peds for completing assignments?

hmm expecatation management, how long have you know the community Marco, you KNOW there will be people bitching that::

  • it costs too much
  • the rewards are lame
  • it's too easy
  • it's too hard
Yes.

And you know what? They'll be right again bitching about that.

Oooh more side content... Awesome!!

I cant force myself to stick to one thing now... Hunting/Mining/Crafting... so many choices so little ped's to burn for all three...

Maybe assignments will 'pad' the wallet and help direct focus to a main profession...

Cant wait to see how it works. :yay:

Well, something to keep newbies ingame was/is badly needed, so this is IMO a welcome addition and perhaps worthy of their time :wise:

A little early to pass judgement on this, but I am looking forward to seeing how it all works out. It is natural to try it on the lower-level first for 2 reasons:

Easier tasks and assignments can possibly validate the system.
New players are the future of Calypso.

I am not discounting the value of our veterens... just saying it is a wise move to get newcomers engaged early in their EU career.

And also: Less chance of someone losing shit loads of money in some kind of experiment within this system :)

Which if its the case, its a damn good move to test it before you make it large scale :)

Heres a poll of what we thought of the previous new system they bought in

and here the poll for the new one...
https://www.planetcalypsoforum.com/forums/about-entropia-universe/179313-assignments-mindforce.html

lets see what people think the second time around.

Everyone should have acess to the assignments. thats Classest to only allow the new people to do it.

I wonder who'll be the first avatar to start a quest and finish a quest :)

Eh that's a quest in itself ....on your marks guys and gals get ready...3...2..1 and we have lift off :yay:

Think marco has already stated that anyone can participate, but the initial ones are aimed towards new players (im assuming in terms of small rewards) in order to manage expectations.

Dont think anyone is excluded from the "assignments".

Ill try and dig up his post.

EDIT: Found on page 3 ;)

Thats what i understood from it too... The reason theyre giving small rewards and small tasks is probably to save your cash, before you felt like trigger happy into doing a uber quest and get your peds blown up to smitherins for a problem in the system, then come to the forum to rant some more on how the game is bugged.

You people need to decide what the fucking hell do you want, because taking into consideration the dev's team size, you can't get everything done in a week, much less in a day.

In my honest opinion, if you think you can do better, volunteer yourself into helping them, instead of pointing the finger.

This is not a rant towards you lorespade, its a rant towards everyone that thinks this is a shit game, and are constantly pushing it down, without even trying to be the least comprehensive. Sure, some shit needs to be done, i don't argue with that, I, like probably everyone else, would like to see old features, and most bugs sorted, but im not constantly poking around making this game look bad, because it doesnt really help does it? In fact, its only harming it, since newcomers read the shit thats posted on a daily basis (certain periods in time) and are instantly disheartened by what they read (if theyre qualified to read mild english).

You can poke them through other means than public linching (if thats spelled correctly).

The other day we had a pioneer making a random community surveillance, and i found that was quite productive, however there were so many ideas being flinged about, that in all that stuff, which in all fairness, some ideas were quite cool, the pioneer was starting to have problems recording everything, my guess is he was resuming the conversations into quick topics.

All in all, people need to understand that even though we are costumers, if we like this game we also need to give them a little chance, even if they suck us dry and shit like that... They wanna be greedy? cool, ill move onto another game. If they wisen up, ill be damn proud of being able to say i helped into making this game cool and fresh.

The obvious question here is... what are the rewards going to be? Will you earn peds for completing assignments?

"integrate into the economy" is probably codespeak for get stuff you can sell to other players with no TT value

Just a guess...

expectation management:D
