Asteroid Investment Fond?

I am slightly puzzled as to why someone would invest serious money in something with no real existence, reliant on the continued financial health of a third party that (frankly) isn't big enough to be safe. Worth it if the profit is high, perhaps, but looking at those figures it isn't.

Excellent point.

It would be seriously foolish to invest large sums of money into something that is controlled by someone else. Even if YOU do a real good job on managing CND and make a profit, THEY (MA) might fuck up the system where your little paradise resides in. They may even make such bad decisions that they go bust.

Where would that leave the buyer? They won't refund you the purchase price or anything. That's a way too big a risk in my opinion. A risk that would justify a price a LOT lower than most estimates i have read so far.

Then again, i am sure there is someone foolish (or way too rich) enough to not care about that.

Great points Mesh... but you know what were saying.... VU10 was obvious enough that what you have in this game can be frozen, changed, or fucked without a care in the world... Tamers? MF skillers? Many LA owners, and estate owners?

If I buy a house although whats around it might change... I know that my house will remain the same... I know that generally if Im around buildings the chances of my surroundings changing drastically are pretty dismal... Sure taxes will change, mortage will change... but these are real economic factors that just happen....

In EU... we already know what you buy you own... in-game at least... what you paid and what MA will give you for it we dont know if MA has to buy everyone out to close the game (if they even have to do that)...

The fact is as someone made the point, this game requires players to continue.... now you can call players customers, but unlike a product... this game changes based on players... After VU10... checking tracker you could see steep drop in returns... mostly because less being spent... like a casino everyone's potential cash flow is connected to the total cash flow into the system... if that stops or slows... then everyone is affected.

This is also a game... and well... some games like Ultima and EQ have lasted ages and continue to play on... this game might lose its flavour to some...

-EDIT CP INFO- The tracker says globs and hofs will net buzz 8% a year... not including individual loot... so maybe lets say hes up to... 12-16% a year before costs (events, loan interest, fertilizer, etc)... maybe so the return is pretty good... but thats still 6-8 years... to long for me to risk EU going that long... but thats me.

Stats show that CND does I think 2x more globs/hofs a day meaning that not including small loots... that CND will have to go for probably closer to like $400k-$600k.... thats not peanuts... thats like balls to the wall risk.

The other thing is like the person above me said... MA isn't massive... sure its ok.... but the initial purchase price is what MA reaped in for CND sale... what ND gets will be far greater.... MA wont cover the difference if EU goes belly up or something happens where EU needs to be shut down....

Theres just 2 many factors...
1. Reliance on participants for not on CND prosperity, but EU prosperity.
2. Reliance on EU continued existance (similar to above)
3. No real life value... stocks at least have value based on an actual finance market.
4. Limited liquidability.
