Atrax

Description

The scientific name of this carnivore is Atraxenosaur. Its sharp teeth and double set of jaws are made for killing and tearing flesh apart. The long and agile neck compensates for its somewhat feeble limbs.

The Creatures section is currently under construction and this process will take some time to complete. The work is being done by volunteers with limited time, so please bear with us while we add the data. If you can provide any information that is currently missing, please post in the thread to let us know.

While this construction period is ongoing, you will be able to access the old Bestiary section which is archived in a sub-forum of the Creatures section. Each mob thread in Creatures contains a link to the relevant Bestiary thread and to the Entropedia page, so if you are looking for information that isn't yet available in the Creatures thread, please use the links provided at the bottom of the first post in the thread.

Thank you for your patience.

High Density of Young to Old

There is a high density spawn of mostly young to old west of Livas (65087, 83283).

There is a high density spawn of mostly young to old west of Livas (65087, 83283).

I think that this are two spawns

-first spawn center is at 64926, 83660
-second spawn center is at 65074, 83240

there is a fine none spawn area between both were you can rest.

-another one 63544, 82423 is here same maturity

-another at 64676, 82106 lower density though (they don't zerg the shit out of you)

Bigger maturity spawn at 76257, 72374 east of east scylla mountains. Mainly guardians to old alpha. Beware some slayers (lv 72:eyecrazy:) with huge aggro range in there as well.

Regards

The *Grand Reopening* at Atrax Park OLA #4 (365, 347) N of Nate Valley
had a big turnout and fun was had by most all.

I did get some complaints and comments during and after the event
that has led me to attempt to change the spawns a bit.

On the Atrax the range will be Provider through Stalker

I've cut back the the Numbers and Maturity of the largest spawn dna
so that now with lower maturity and slightly less density -
lower level players have a chance if they avoid the Stalkers!

On the Neconu I've lowered the range to young, (even they like to eat armor),
and I'm cutting numbers back to less than 10% of the total population.

Hopefully this will good for those that wish to hunt bigger than old,
and get some good loot without running into a Level 72 Slayer

As always comments and suggestions are welcome and appreciated,

Kludge

Any good locations for ~Old Alpha spawns? Ideally not mixed, since they tend to be mixed with atrox who are as crazy with the agro as the atrax are.

The one at 76235,72230 has mainly old alphas within the inner perimeter, the outer perimeter is dominated by lower maturities. The slayers spawns are rare and you can easily track them since slayers are on your radar pretty early.

Regards

Isaac

I look forward to the day when I have the skill/gear to hunt slayers. Saw one for my first time yesterday and they are awesome.

I just finished stage 2 of the iron challenge at the high plateau around 811,747 (about 2 km north of Osere). Highest maturity is reported as Alpha on the old Entropedia page, but I also met one Old Alpha during this run of finishing 240 mobs. Spawn density 'medium' classification is probably justified considered the extreme aggressiveness of this species. Although it looks thin on the radar, it is almost impossible to not get several drawn at once sometimes. New spawns also occur often within range. Come prepared, especially the higher maturities are liable for surprise attacks. Revive is at outpost ~700 m to the west down by the lakeshore. It is nevertheless i.m.o. a very good spot for the mission, since there is no other mob mixed in and density seems carefully calculated.

Detailed breakdown of this run published here:
http://arkadiaforum.com/threads/sans-hunting-log.12249/page-3#post-94476

That's where I completed the atrax iron mission chain, excellent spawn. Alternatively you can fly north from Camp Pheonix.

Two possible updates to this excellent article:

1) Young and mature (and maybe some higher - not sure) can be found in a large area around 74200, 76000.
This is roughly midway between Eurus and Twin Peaks, and the road west from Twin Peaks goes through the area.

Mixed in with Berycleds and Sabakuma.

2) Z's Little Farm, which I discovered from this article, also has some mature as well as young.

thanks for the thread mega - was usefull on finding my atrax for my daily missions today

you can update the following if you would like as I hunted there today and can update the verification:)

Calypso 65100 83200 SW Livas Young to Old High

Mixed spawn Atrax/Atrox/Armax/Caudatergus/Molisk/Hiryuu north of the Ashi Oil Rig. Maturities and coordinates incoming after the comp that can run the game is freed up.
Caudatergus - low maturity
Molisk - Young L7 to Raider L26
Atrox - Young to Stalker, the Stalker and Prowlers being Shared Loot and close to the Rig

Atrax Hatchling, L5, 140hp, damage potential Small, Agility 27, int 7, psyche 10, stamina 14, str 22.

They run away when attacked but do count for Iron.

L181 Atrax Queen

Oops, this is possibly my fault on a previous edit when I added the tp directions. I'm also not on Caly right now to verify, and haven't since the last 2 updates. If nothing has changed, they are right outside the gate in the mentioned mix, and last time I hunted there the occasional Old Alpha caused a bit of a headache if you come protected only for the smaller mobs. Also forgot to add them above. If someone could take a quick look and say if it's still so, I'll edit OP. Thanks.

I've changed Fort Vic co-ords to 55600, 61100, think that should be about right.

Atrax Queen is showing as L 118 but Aio reported it as L 181 - is it just a typo?

Yes I would think that's my mistake when transcribing, so I've changed it to 181. If anyone knows better let us know!

All I remember about them is they are big, really big! :D

Hehe yes, so 181 sounds more likely 118.

Something that big should pick him up and toss him in the air like a cat with a tiny mouse toy lol

Hmmm, that'd probably make shooting it harder tho.

A change of mob

Calypso 65100/83200 SW Livas - was there today, and it's a "high" spawn of Cornundacauda (Prov-Guard mostly). No Atrax in sight there now.

Thanks Mega for the big job with mapping mobs!

cheers, eras

Move around a bit, I did hunt them at 64946, 83760 a couple of days ago.

Svarog's right. There's a spot where the atrax thrive in a glorious cluster (if you don't mind the "get chewed by 4 while killing 1" hunting style) with all the corns outside of it right on the ridge of that mountain IIRC. Yes, it's surrounded by corns around it, but that lil top is trax town.

If you are getting chewed by 4 mobs 'ever' in this game then you need to reflect on your hunting technique and equipment choices, but this is perhaps something for discussion in another thread. ;)

Good to hear both Cornundacauda and Atrax spawns are still there, I completed them in much less dense & much more awkward locations (Zeus / Caravan)

Yep, Atrax are present! I was too fast there, thought maybe MA had changed the spawn. So loads of Atrox and Cornundacauda (best spawn I'v ever seen of the Cornund's btw.)

Received information for another location

63500, 82400 Medium density Atrax Young to Old.

Thank you anonymous person. ;)
