The good; The bad?

What would it look like if the auction only allowed for Buyout to be set and Start Bids were of TT value?

Example: 100ped TT item listed
SB: 100ped
BO: 10 000ped

BAD, very bad
If you list a high MU item at the wrong time and it sold for only the TT it would be a disaster. If you protect it with a SB of say 60-70% of anticipated buyout then you either get a reasonable though not maxed price or it fails to sell and you lose the fee, but retain the item to list again or sell PTP at better price.

Having an enforced SB of TT or TT+1 would therefore massively increase risk of low sale price of high MU items, and push people away from AH, and give us even more spam in trade channels or forum. More than 50% of posts on forum seem to be buy/sell do we really need to see that rise ?

Why would you do this?
Why would you want this?

Not being able to place a minimum would be a total disaster just as Granny wrote.

Very bad idea and would not make sense at all.

I think TT value itself is what ruins the free trade. How many people don't even participate in trade since they can just TT everything and continue whatever they were doing. I propose instead of a TT value, make a "proposed" value.

I don't see how TT value being shown affects free trade, all it indicates is cost of materials used to craft it to full value, or fully repaired value if UL. It is what it is.
At most it gives you an idea of whether you should go craft your own or pay at least the start bid. The seller can already 'propose' both start bid and buyout, so their view of the expected value is already indicated.
If we turn the whole thing into guesswork the greedy will dominate, and those who cant be bothered with mindgames will TT more than they do now, or will simply sell through spamming trade channels.

TBH the basics of the AH are sound but not without room for improvement.
1. Let us use the pec as well as ped when setting SB and BO This will help stop inflation on low value items and stacks, where 1 ped pushes the MU over the norm
2. Revise the whole sales history charts. Make them show individual sales (not averages) and let them also show the TT of the item sold, the tiering(if any) and size of stack (where relevant), at present the info shown is frankly misleading at best. This revision alone would make market manipulation sales stand out from the crowd.

One benefit would be that shops would be way more interesting to use. Shops should always be the cheapest alternative imo.
I doubt though that they will remove the startingbid.

They could open up for pecs in auction if SB and BO are the same.

They could also remove the static fee for resources, materials and other expendables and only use per centage there,
and if it isn't sold there will be a fee based on that initial per centage fee,
