Well, this was funny for a while. Now it is just getting old. This needs to be fixed!

Well not sure why you are wasting your time to lvl. it up and gather XP.
I have used them to lvl. up my creatures to lvl. 5 as soon as I saw they are bugged.
Even if it gets fixed you will be mostly getting it to lvl. 2 and all the other XP is wasted/lost.

Was thinking/hoping that since the XP is on "the books" proof positive that I had built it that I would be able to take this pet as far as the XP allowed. That is a heck of a lot of forest battles.

It used to have a sibling, but gave it to make a lvl 5. But this one gave me the sad eye and told me he would be fixed one day. So I just couldn't do him in. lol
