Well that was some interesting unamped mining...

HoF HoF HoF HoF HoF :yay:
Haven't had that much time lately so it's been going slow.

Out of curiosity i parsed my log files.
Since 2011 Oct 27th i've dropped 40455 bombs and found 9913 claims, resulting in 24.5% hitrate.
(my mining log started on Oct 22nd but my entropia logs only start from 27th so had to exclude few of the first runs from calculations).

Cycled: 134,554 TT (144,780 MU)
TT results: -19,052 ped (85.84%)
MU results: -5,239 ped (96.38%)

Some decent runs lately, a few more good runs wouldn't hurt ^^
Wondering if i'd get my tower if i were to chip out all skills, seems to be the trend to get them towers with no skills :O

Cycled: 136,435 TT (146,783 MU)
TT results: -19,974 ped (85.36%)
MU results: -6,053 ped (95.88%)

Avg. MU is going up slowly... aaaand TT return % is sinking steadily at the same time.
Almost 20k peds in TT lost :) Congrats for that tower MA you little piece of ****.

January done.
Cail's mining log - 2012/01 January

-7661 peds (76.84% TT returns), -4760 peds in MU, not the greatest month.
My hitrate is still 24.5% (couple runs in FOMA drops the avg. a bit), so my hitrate is on bar what would be expected, but my TT returns are still at 85%, soon going below, so the claim sizes i get are just BS.
Did do a couple of stupid runs last month with lvl 10 and lvl 11 amps, was a bit bored.
Think i will never see those peds again.
Grats for the 20 noobs getting towers amongst first globals on january though, think i should do what eva hotshot love is doing and start creating new avatars, seems to be a pretty solid plan to hit towers/ATH's.

6535 peds to go for 90% TT returns, i'd take that tower any day now MA.
<- I did get me a gold star thingie here on forum just recently yayy.

Cycled: 143,715 TT (154,429 MU)
TT results: -20,719 ped (85.58%)
MU results: -6,280 ped (95.93%)

Took a bit of a break from mining on february, i seem to have settled at 85% TT returns, which is not really good when paying amp markups.
One uber there on the first run of february though, we were going on a soc hunt for dasps so decided to drop some bombs there and poof :p

Cycled: 147,270 TT (158,172 MU)

Cycled: 149,881 TT (160,999 MU)
TT results: -21,647 ped (85.56%)
MU results: -6,877 ped (95.73%)

Reached 45 prospector "Remarkable".
Still waiting for the first tower :)
6659 peds to go for 90% returns, so can't be too hard to give something back, say, in a form of a tower.
I still can't believe that some miners are going around with 100% and above TT returns in the long run.

Slipped a bit with the March update, haven't been all that active since i had some 3D projects going on and also just got back from Spain.
Last month was saved wit a couple of beacon loots (1 SOOTO with 2 beacons and 1 with 3 beacons, right before the MU's dropped drastically), other than that, still not-so-good TT returns.

-> Data spreadsheet

It's pretty sad when you are disappointed for waiting for 80% TT returns, also wth has happened with the MU's.
How the hell are you supposed to survive paying that amp MU with 10-70% TT returns when the MU's are around 110% on Caly, geez.

Small update.
43.88% TT returns atm. this month on mining.
Also, deposited quite some peds for hunting, needless to say i lost several K peds in a day already.

The hell has happened here? 40%+ returns seem to be impossible no matter what you do?

Cycled: 158,645 TT (170,207 MU)
TT results: -23,155 ped (85.40%)
MU results: -6,914 ped (95.94%)

Tried some treasure hunting last week when it was introduced, not too bad returns TT wise from that, still a bit hard to sell those loots though.

And for 2012/05 May:
TT: -1,131 ped (78.69%)
MU: -905.02 (83.75%)

Personal Lootpools - Many of the theories which suggest - inaccurately - that efficiency is unimportant will often employ the concept of a “personal lootpool”, claiming that the “system” will eventually provide a sort of compensation to avatars who have been operating in an inefficient manner.
Well well, as i've been saying for some time :p
Only way is down :D

Got a 28% TT return run on Calypso with some lvl 2 amps.
Fucking brilliant, make it even more obvious that there is no way to get peds in this game.

I can soon join Artrat's "sub-70% return" club, too bad i had that one fantastic run there which brought me just over 70% TT returns for the last 10k peds.

Mining is collapsing. Mu is high, amps are expensive, tt return is low, many miners not playing... good job on rebalancing MA !

Rocktropia is like Greece in RL.
Let them go down or they will take everyone with them.

Cycled: 160,480 TT (172,254 MU)
TT results: -23,820 ped (85.16%)

250 runs and 53478 drops done.

June results:
Cail's mining log - 2012/06 June

TT: -664.34 (63.80%)
MU: -550.60 (73.09%)

Last 6 months:
January: 76.84% TT
February: 92.94% TT
March: 87.31% TT
April: 73.10% TT
May: 78.69% TT
June: 63.80% TT

Don't think it's gonna be getting better anytime soon :p

So, it's been a year now since i started this log.
Let's see what's going on then...

Cycled: 161,815 peds TT (173,595 peds MU)
TT results: -23,949 ped (85.20%)
MU results: -7,361 ped (95.76%)

Well, that's not too shabby, but during this 1 year i've gone from lvl 37 Prospector to 45.5, maxing VRX2K in the process, and from lvl 36 Miner to lvl 43, and buying me an SGA excavator as a christmas present last years december.

54778 drops.
40 HoF's (3 ubers; 1564 Niks, 1302 Gazz, 1066 Zinc).
283 Globals.
7 SOOTO's (from which 4 were beacon finds, 2 Angel scales, 1 Hansidian).

Think i'm almost ready to come back from summer vacation time and see where the next year takes me, hopefully it'll go a bit better.

Well, that's not too shabby

its a shame you didnt have slightly better TT returns, looking at your spreadsheet your average markup looked pretty decent most of the time, the only thing i saw eating into that was the average markup on your amps, most likely from the larger amps?
7K ped is not a nice sum to lose but in percentages you were close to a good result, gl with the next year!

Gl with the next year of mining.

Oh, damn, I wish i would have bothered to log stuff in the past.
Keep up the good work Cail :) This is really interesting data you are recording here.

actually what is happening is this...
There is a higher TT on CAlypso to be achieved but lower mu and gotta realize there is a CAp in how much TT you can take in soo.....
be carefull

but if you go to RT let's say you will see lower TT return huge difference from caly to rt but huge mu soo give/take
just keep at it.

Cycled: 164,410 TT (176,192 MU)

Unamped august came in with some profit.
TT return: -200.48 (94.46%)
MU return: +241.35 (106.65%)
Nice TT returns, although my avg. MU went down to 113.11% for the month since i did most of my mining on Arkadia, Treasure Hunting.

Something rather unexpected happened, i noticed that i had the "Mining Research in Area" mission open, missing just 2 Melchi claims, so decided to grab a few probes and go mine those 2 claims...

And this happened.
Unamped, my first Enmatter HoF ever, at lvl 29.5 Surveyor :)
Nice MU on this stuff too.

(XandraX bugged again and missed the swirlie shot :/)

Cail,

I have been watching your results for some time now and they are pretty consistant with my own ~ 85%,
Never the less I don't log things so much these days on Viper (Previously I did on Lavawalker), but your giving a great shot and perserving.

Keep with it hey, something will come your way eventually ;)

Cycled: 166,043 TT (177,847 MU)
TT results: -23,257 ped (85.99%)
MU results: -5,859 ped (96.71%)

Didn't really mine much this month since i was grinding last of the missions before the nerf hits.
Only 4 runs but all of them were profitable runs :)

September (Cail's Mining Log - 2012/09 September):
TT returns: +892.20ped (154.62%)
MU returns: +1,476.17 (189.23%)

Soooo much green this month :yay:
Eye candy:

Cycled: 168,730 TT (180,650 MU)
TT results: -24,073 ped (85.73%)
MU results: -6,282 ped (96.52%)

Well, this month isn't going quite as glamorously as the last month (atm. 69.01% TT returns).
Decided to track my claims throughout the last run, and let the sheet calculate my hitrate (17.95% for the last run, my hitrate has been shit this month :/).

I was also thinking of making my log in PHP + MySQL, would be more convenient for logging, and better presentation of data.
Just wonder if there's any use in gathering all the claims from the runs.

Any input on what is and what is not valuable/usable information is welcome.

I tracked every single drop individually on a spreadsheet for about 2 years. After compiling it in all kinds of reports based on day, date, time, depth, resource, amp level, area, taxed vs non-taxed, etc, I could find no real benefit to it. That could be because I'm too stupid to recognize something, but I attributed it to complete randomness. Then my hard drive started failing and I lost all that data, got pissed off, and stopped tracking it. My overall results never really changed until the rebalancing of resources, but regardless of fluctuations, they're still about the same overall in TT terms. The only difference is that my average markup is lower.

i also tracked every single drop for a while and i agree it did not help me that much, tracking basic information like TT return and average MV does help me see where i go "wrong". the only other thing i do find helpful is paying attention to the average markup in a area i mine compared to the TT return i get and what i am paying in markup for amps. i also try not to switch amp lvl's too much so i dont amp my losses more than my good runs.
