Actually it makes perfect sense. It avoids bid timing conflicts. It would be totally possible to have won it here by bidding BO then not get the item before it sold in AH and could be pulled.

Not a stupid rule at all, in fact, it is a necessary rule for auctions to be doable on PCF.
