We are still currently stabilizing ComPet in the QA process, which is taking more time than expected. To offer an experience that is as close as possible to that of the finished game we have decided to extend this period of development and delay the closed beta test. We realize this may come as a disappointment but we wish to ensure the closed beta test is delivered to you with the highest level of quality and playability. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Our ambition is to launch the closed beta test during April 2016.

Kind Regards,
The ComPet Game Development Team

20 days late with the announcement and april is in 2 days - lets hope release date of compet is kept and we dont get another year of compet development with nothing done in entropia.

The closed beta will become available on May 10 2016, 9.00 UTC. One hour is more than enough for the testers to make sure the game installs and launches.

That’s a shame, although I’m not surprised. It’s important to get it right.

Ok; we hang on in there a little longer.

It’s the right thing to do to act professionally about it, there’s a lot of money riding on the success of this game (including the sale of $2m of deeds).

On the plus side the Compet bulletins have looked very good.

Hi Kim;

What’s the plan with in-game chat please, I’ve not seen that shown in the compet pics?

Can we have a few more details with regards to game economy and costs please?

Is there a different conversion ratio from US dollars to compet peds?
A common dragon for example is shown as 100 (cost) in the pet shop pics, or an Aztec Battle pack is 1000 (costs)

How many compet peds do you get for a US dollar ($) please?

Compet updates here for those looking. http://www.entropiauniverse.com/bulletin/buzz/

Thanks

Rick

lame as shit. the may 10th release isnt coming now at all. hell the 3d casino from thier partnership was suppose to be out in 'late 2015'... Ma in the future dont mention projects til they are finished. Youve never met a release date and its getting embarassing and destroying what little trust your company has left...

I did not see this coming

Well thanks for the brief informational update.... expected delay, ofc, but ok.

Can we have a few more details with regards to game economy and costs please?
Thanks

Rick

In App Purchases I expect
10 ComPet dollars = $6.50 USD
100 ComPet dollars = $65.00 USD
etc

Withdrawal time, 4 months...that won't work for an iPhone game, withdrawals will have to be immediate!

how i see it Coins and gems are ingame currency and the $ is the one you buy. so 100 coins for a pet is in game currency (but i guess there is 'rare' pets for cp$) weirdly tho, on the top bar it makes coins look more like an XP bar

looking at this 10ped = $1.... $1, $5, $10, $50

Is there any mobile game not of a gambling (with all the associated limitations) type that have immediate - or any - withdrawals?

And that's the selling point of Compets, as I see it.

To sum that screenshot up;

"Coins" are XP won in battles
"Gems" are the in-game valueless currency (if you play other mobile games you'll know this mechanic)
"PED" or "ComPED" are the real-life cash.

I would actually think that the ComPED and PED are the same thing, or interchangeable, and that the withdrawals will be the same speed as PED withdrawals. Having said that, this may mean that we finally get a speed improvement in our "proper" PED withdrawals...

I know of a web & mobile based "game", based on a completely different mechanic, which has 2-5 business day withdrawals and 0% fees on deposits (debit), 1.5% (credit deposit) and 0% any-type withdrawal.

Can I name it's name or is that a rule here?

Just buyup all the compet deeds, so they can hire additional staff to handle our game!

/sarcasm off

Looks like it's a period of anarchy on the forum, so you might try :)

Fair, I expect to be the latest strikethrough member soon though ;) Here's what I've typed to people who asked through PM:

The game I was referring to is "BuaBook" - https://whoscored.buabook.com/

It's a football (soccer) stock trading game; you deposit and buy "shares" in a real-life player, and then based on the performance of that player their "value" rises or falls. You can then sell at a profit if you make one.

Completely different mechanic to compets, but its PvP (you buy / sell from other participants) and you deposit real cash, and withdraw real cash.

Bit shit if you don't like football though hahaha!

Now, I appreciate its a different concept but as far as I'm aware that company does not have any major-backing, so the fact that they can offer a 5 day turnaround is worrying for MA's typical 60+.

No, you just have a limit to how much gold you can hold. You can increase it by building a larger warehouse.

Someone let the dogs out..

It's not really a mobile game though is it.. just Web based specifically that could run in mobile. Have they said they would deploy to the various stores? Even if it is just an empty container, they need to do that.

Problem with immediate withdrawals it would be a magnet for money laundering and that will draw the ire of the puppetmasters.

Where is my surprice face? :jawdrop:

Realisticaly May launch will be in December

Beta (same as EU - we can consider it as work in progress) is announced and will be available from May 10 2016, 10.00 UTC.

Maybe MR. President will get his first homework to do after 10. May - ie why (if) compet game was postponed.

It's a bit silly to be balking at a minor delay in software development. Happens all the time. They are at least communicating it to you and why.. it seems they've discovered some issues that require some time to resolve and won't meet their targets.

Yes i think that nobody is surprised after 14 years and so many "failed to delivery in time" that we all should be accustomed to..

I bet you'll say the same garbage when they blow by their May 10th date. Just like they did already to their casino partners.

Being a software development manager for several years, I don't view them missing this date (for more qa time I might add.. which is what people like you bitch about them not doing) as being a major deficiency. And with this date moving, as will their target production date. That's project management 101.

Stay above the line.. dont be yet another person just wanting to bash someone else just because.. it doesn't make you look good.

Games always get "delayed", one month is nothing, but three month would be a bit annoying... :silly2:

FYI, Kim said they were doing compet through Unity. These are the project target sttings.

If they didn't messed up the ©MA Way it's as easy as a few clicks.

Another thing of project management 101 is to plan buffer times and make an appropriate risk assessment to cover possible delays - as in most modern projects where you have bussiness customers you also have sizeable financial 'punishments' in your contracts if you fail to be on time.
Luckily for Mindark its just the 'end' customers...
It just sucks when you want to involve new bussiness partners and are perceived to be hard to rely on in a timely manner...

Under promise and over deliver.

sounds quite interesting, but the link doesn't work. how legitimate is it?

as for the compet delay, it's fine by me. important thing is the end product is good
