Wiki is unusable because it's extremely slow. Also could argue very outdated. MA are working on a new version but there is no info on when it will be released. Presumably when or after UE5 launches. They are aware the current wiki is virtually dead!

So some people are working on creating their own versions and hence would like an up to date dump to build from.

Here is one example:
https://entropianexus.com/

Maybe a bit of a necro, but entropianexus.com has an API that does allow to dump all the data in a JSON format. I am also willing to actually share a database dump depending on what use case you have.

Anyways click here for the API:

https://api.entropianexus.com/docs/

The API is free to use, if you are gonna use it for your own projects please be mindful to not spam the API too much, just keep it to a sensible amount :)

Appreciated but there's too much missing data on your site.

Yeah, but it's a copy from the wiki data so... I know there is some specific data missing completely, but all the gaps have to be fixed by contributors one way or another.

@Ludvig|MindArk @My|MindArk is there some issue that prevents either open-sourcing the wiki or providing an updated dump? the wiki is absolutely awful to use and is completely forgotten about. Forgotten password requests never checked, timeouts etc. It's really shocking that it has been in this state for so long. It really looks bad for MA that nothing is happening with it even though many people have requested fixes/updates etc.

To be honest it's becoming a complete joke at this point, no wonder player retention is an issue if something as central as the wiki is thrown into a dark corner for the last decade.

If MA is unable to manage the wiki then please turn it over to someone who can. The numbers of unanswered complaints about the wiki is getting ridiculous and yet we just get ignored time and time again.

Fingers crossed they just provide an official API to pull data directly from the game with UE5 and scrap the need for this crap altogether.

If I thought MA would ever do something about this issue I wouldn't have made Nexus in the first place. It's really not that far behind the wiki in terms of how updated the data is, I even added/fixed some stuff myself which arguably makes it a tad more acuurate/complete. If you have any suggestions or you find anything that is missing that you need you just need to get into contact with me, after all it was my goal to solve this issue.

if it makes you feal any better, they fucked up the first wiki, theyl fuck up the next one aswell

They are very hands off in general so it wouldn't surprise me. Even if it's decent initially I doubt it will be well maintained afterwards.

I appreciate your work on the wiki. I've done projects like this over the years but never got round to doing anything for the EU wiki. I need to wean myself off the official wiki and start using yours more. It's not so much the state of the wiki that annoys me as I've gotten used to it, its more the fact that MA is willfully ignoring reasonable requests from the community. It makes me concerned that they will continue this behavior with other things too. It's really unacceptable that we receive silence on many topics. We're paying them a ton of money after all.

If you need any help with your wiki, let me know. I've got a lot of experience with various technologies and would be happy to contribute some time to a project that would help the entire community :)

you people are a fine example of why this game is still alive, while MA seems to be ignoring the commmunity, you dont lose hope for better times coming, and you do what you can to help out the game by putting matters into your own hands

My most pressing concern would just be filling in all the blanks right now, which quite honestly is a community project. I want to provide a proper basis for information around this game and make sure it is self-sufficient and won't just be forgotten about. I felt like alot of ppl still use the wiki for 2 reasons mostly:

1. They have gotten used to it/don't know about Nexus yet (or they don't like it for some reason)
2. The infos they are looking for are not on Nexus yet (like Missions)

The deafening silence from MA is really what surprises me most, while there are some people that you can talk to they are under pretty heavy NDAs anyways and can't really share all that much about what MA is planning unless it is quite close to release anyways. Technologically I think Nexus is pretty fine for now, I mean it's literally running on like 5 bucks a month of server costs lmao.

I really just want to build more of a "wiki" community that cares about providing information, especially to new players. I do have long-term plans to go beyond the scope of just a wiki site and provide additional features, but for now I first want to get this right.

1. I think the first mistake they've made was to use .NET. As soon as scripting was added it got messed up. The amount of data on the wiki is not a factor for today's technologies.
2. Because it expanded so much with all bunch of comparisons, calculations etc it became unusable. This is what happens when no one is in charge; I understand most of the features are requests for the player base, but there must be some form of control what (and if) goes in.
3. As Amryu already pointed out already, the wiki should be first and foremost, for the new players. This, IMO, was forgotten. The site is so cumbersome to use (I'm not even going to talk about the speed) that is very complicated to find simple information. I'm not going to mention the "Search" feature.

As many others mentioned, the fact that it's totally neglected it's what upsets me as well. I know it's easier to criticize, than to do something about it, but until they're willing to share a current DB dump, there is not much we can do. Personally, I did start my own wiki that's dedicated to Arkadia (ArkPedia), but more is needed. I hanged out at the Celeste Outpost the other day as I wanted to buy some Sweat. One single bot was there; then someone else joined, and in 10 minutes or so, there were about 6-7 people sweating. What struck me was the fact the lowest player had 152 Health, and was a level 45 Ranged Laser. Not a single newbie!
It's really sad that player retention is so terrible.

I don't think .NET itself is the issue really, but there has definitely not been any regard for keeping stuff simple or performant. As a project grows you always need to think ahead and make sure you can extend to it without slowing other stuff down. It can be done right or wrong in any language really, but I'm guessing that it's just a somewhat pre-built wiki software or maybe even built from the ground up by someone not experienced enough OR it's just the good old historical changes that nobody wanted to clean up after.

I can't judge it since I don't have the code, but I have experience from previous workplaces where stuff was just complicated and slow without achieving as much as it should or any regard to useability. I just think we need more simplicity when building stuff and get feedback, copy good solutions from already existing projects elsewhere and be open-minded.

Player retention doesn't really only have to do with a wiki tho. It's a factor and imho a wiki should not be necessary to play a game. A good game has it's own version of a wiki in-game and information readily available. There are some games that work well with information being hidden, but the reality is that people will just build a wiki which will live and die with the community and in dire times those projects will degrade. It really shouldn't be our duty to even do all this, but it shows how dedicated some people can be to provide value to other players.

I just wish MA should be much more open and cooperative as that can make the relations to the players much more healthy.

I'm not sure if you lack understanding or simply are prejudiced against .NET, either way let me explain.
.NET is very modern framework, used in many massive enterprise solutions, mainly as backend.

Wiki just uses very old version of it and was never maintained and updated to newer versions.

But even though old tech is used, this is not an issue with wiki. Real problem is infrastructure. I'm not sure if dB cache issues or simply not enough processing power on MA hosting to process all requests in timely matter.
You can see that wiki works great sometimes, most of time struggle and sometimes you get db exceptions after long wait, meaning it's not a code issue (code does not change) but db.

Who cares about their data they are protecting, it's full of misleading terms and false information, generated for years by imbeciles who had access to edit everything.
