As promised in adjacent threads, this is the reply from support to said concerns. CEO must have remembered a good old trick from Minopolis and dragged an Araneatrox Stalker outside the office door to prevent anyone from leaving for the weekend. Hope they keep their staff fed and watered ;)

Hello San!

Thank you for your inquiry, allow me to break down your questions individually and address them:

> Will Entropia Universe player accounts be transformed to accounts in an
> official financial institution, with all legal implications? Or will
> MindArk Bank or whichever entity administers DeepToken remain a
> separate institution, and will there be a choice whether to sign up?

The MindArk Bank will be a wholly separate entity from MindArk's EU related database and actions in regards to the Entropia Universe. It will be your choice to participate in either Entropia Universe, or the IPX which will have its own account and login information for content developers and those wishing to license content.

> Will upcoming changes enforce revealing the connection between one's
> avatar and real identity to any institution or authority other than
> MindArk, the game company?

Identification requirements to purchase DeepToken, and to choose to be part of any MindArk bank endeavors will be completely separate from the requirements of an Entropia Universe account.

Utilizing DeepToken in deposit/withdraw transactions related to the Entropia universe will be separate from the existing methods in place, an additional option. The MindArk bank will help to facilitate this transfer once implemented, as DeepToken will not require the same holding periods that fiat currency does due to anti-money-laundering(AML) requirements and the potential for charge-backs on credit card deposits. The exact methods of deposit and withdraw with DeepToken will require various legal aspects that are being negotiated between the MindArk entities and municipalities after the sale. Our goal is to give you fast transaction options, while complying with various government standards for the security of everyone.

As for live support, there is some crossover, however as the MindArk bank and Entropia Universe are separate legal entities, cataloging of questions, answers and responses is done separately to create a clear record of issues to address solely for the DeepToken offering.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

Best Regards

Hello!

I've been in contact with your support chat the other day regarding
the possible impact of MindArk becoming a proper financial institution
on the privacy of players' accounts. I was asked my email address for
the purpose of initiating a dialogue. Since the token sale has started
and we haven't been in touch yet, I would appreciate very much if we
could get this out of the way.

The original chat transcript is attached below. Basically, what my
question boils down to, is:

Will Entropia Universe player accounts be transformed to accounts in an
official financial institution, with all legal implications? Or will
MindArk Bank or whichever entity administers DeepToken remain a
separate institution, and will there be a choice whether to sign up?

Will upcoming changes enforce revealing the connection between one's
avatar and real identity to any institution or authority other than
MindArk, the game company? (It may be welcomed by many to counter the
longstanding problem of people creating multiple avatars for nefarious
purposes, but we all know that this is a double-edged sword.)

My other important question is about the planned future of withdrawals
from Entropia Universe accounts, which is only briefly mentioned in the
DeepToken whitepaper but i.m.o. the thing which Entropia players are
interested in the most at this time.

It is most welcome that something is being done about the untenable
withdrawal times. If this is part of the development with DeepToken,
could you please explain how this is conceived to work? What is the
path from PED to DT (if so) to national currency going to be? The
whitepaper focuses almost entirely on the IPX, which is a different
application as it seems. But if I wanted to support development by
buying DeepTokens I am much more interested in the other side at this
time, and I'm certainly not alone among Entropia players. Since
DeepToken is as good as unknown outside of this circle, it stands to
reason to address their concerns first.

As a sidenote, I sent this to Entropia Universe support first and was
told that they are unable to answer DeepToken related questions and
gave me this email address instead. I was confused when I seemed to
recognize the name of Loki from the initial chat contact as a known
in-game support staff member. Is this not going to the same office? You
might like to issue a notice on community forums to avoid Entropia
support getting overloaded by misadressed requests.

Thank you very much for your kind attention.

Best regards,
San

How can I help?

San
Hello!
I would like to know if signing up on this website, or getting in any way involved with DeepToken, creates a chance of compromising my online privacy, i.e. the connection of my Entropia avatar with my real-world identity to the public eye. I understand that with the official character of the endeavor (creating a proper bank etc.), proper identification is a must. But given how things are in Sweden -- e.g. the amount of information you can get about others just by knowing their personnummer -- I am more than just a little concerned. As a foreigner living in Sweden, I am sensitive to this issue.
Thank you

Hi San welcome to Live Support.
All the information or privacy as such are very descrite
All information are very safe.
MindArk company is very strict on the information that they have for users.
San
Thank you, I am aware of that and of course Mindark has my informatino on file. But banks are under different regulations. It may not be in Mindark's power to protect customer privacy in the same way. Authorities also may query bank accounts as they please, and do whatever with the information.
I just mean that the transformation from being a customer of a gaming comapny to a bank account holder is something which can have implications not always foreseen. US citizens will have their special problems with that.
Loki
Okay so you are a US citizen?
San
No, I am German
Loki
Can I have your email address please?
San
The real-world one on file with Mindark or one I created for communications under my avatar name?
Loki
The one you are using real world.
San
Okay ^^ XXXXXXXXXX
Loki
So they can contact you and you can have answers on your questions.
San
Thank you very much. I understand it's a heavy question.
Loki
Indeed.

2. MindArk's Upcoming Blockchain Project

Over the past year, MindArk has been closely following the cryptocurrency sphere and exploring synergies between the Entropia Universe platform and blockchain technology. MindArk has engaged an external team of cryptocurrency and finance experts to help formulate a unique and innovative token offering.

This project promises to provide MindArk with a large infusion of capital which will enable accelerated and improved development of the Entropia Universe platform, including integration of virtual reality and blockchain technology, and which will ultimately benefit all Entropia Universe stakeholders -- participants, Planet Partners and shareholders.

Exciting times are on the horizon for MindArk and Entropia Universe, and we hope we can count on your interest and support!

More details on DeepToken, MindArk’s token offering, will be made available in the coming days and weeks.

This sounds like the "stock market" terminals that were removed years ago.

And the "banks" which weren't actual banks.

All of these, including ICO's are considered a "security" by the U.S. SEC.

Basically, if it looks like a security and acts like a security, it needs to be registered IF you wish to include American residents. If you choose not to register, you need to exclude Americans or risk prosecution. See BetOnSports if you don't believe that to be the case.
