Design the next Entropia shirt Contest

Hello Everyone,

From Onciest's inspiration, Entropia Outfitters is asking all the talented Entropians to submit pics of their own original designs for the next Entropia shirt.

The Winner decided by all you EF'ers and all us Entropia Outfitters will receive:
  • 4000 EFD
  • 400 PED
  • 2 shirts of their winning design - FREE
  • 30% of all Sales of respective shirts with winning design

RULES:
1) only one design per post per person per day
2) Your own original designs only
3) Entropia Outfitters or Entropia Universe logos are not required
4) Submissions accepted from now until Sept. 8th (24:00 MA)
5) Valid submissions are for shirt designs only (short sleeve, long sleeve, no sleeve, whatever); not hoodies, hats, mugs, etc.
6) After submission close date, the best of the best qualifiers will then be voted on to decide the Winner!

Hi, I'm usually not a mean person, but I would like to tell my opinion of this...

You have 2 uncreative (very-very not creative) designs available at your website as I saw and the mining maps for $19.

As I see you have your webstore where you sell products that advertise your company with your logo - why would I wear a t-shirt with your company name on it....who are you?? - and you don't have any other ideas....

so why not make a contest on EF where talented entropians submit their creative designs - becouse there are some really talented people here - for $40 and then you will use it on your products and sell it for $...

and you make it sound as a nice, friendly community contest....

I hate to be like this, but I also can't stand not to tell the truth....so I had to...

I'm sorry EntropaOutfitters, but you should design your own graphics or hire a graphic designer if you are unable to....and make money that way.

And I really just don't get your company....no designs...only your logos...why?

That's not their logo, that's the old PE logo...

And I actually think this is a great idea ;)
I'll see if I can get some time to create something :D

Also, if you take a look at their "copyright" page, they claim to own the rights for the "E" logo, which is clearly property of MindArk as stated in the EULA of Entropia Universe. Shady, shady stuff this is..

Since they've stopped using that logo, they may have sold the rights to Entropia Outfitters...

But I know that they've talked to MA officials and got permission to use it...

From their website:
"For use of Entropia Outfitters logos and insignia, such as the Entropia "E" logo, contact Keith Ward."

So it's their logo, plus they wrote their name under it: Entropia Outfitters.com

But if its an old PE logo, than even that is not their own design...:rolleyes:

But if you guys want to design logos and graphics for them for $40 what they will sell for profit, of course do it.
But you would be smarter to sell your own t-shirts, mugs, etc with your own unique designs...ever heard of cafepress.com?

And if you really hate to get what you deserve for your work, then you should send the money to some charity, wildlife organizations, etc.

I think nobody should underestimate the value of their talent (neither over....)

I think I get it, you guys want to be famous of designing the next EntropiaOut.... logo...
Again, open your own cafepress store with your own work on the products.
You will be more famous, if you have talent.

I would buy some cool products with quality Entropia related content on them.

I have nothing against your logo. :)

But, if I understand correctly, you are owning a business related to EU.
So this shirt is expected to bring you some RL cash, and in my opinion, you should reward it seriously, I mean a real prize worth 1000$, not 40$ + 2 shirts, this looks like a joke. :D

Do you need 300dpi or vector logo for print media?
 
It is true, we are a business. So we do plan on selling the cool winning design. That is the basic plan which is not hidden. Actually, it was suggested at least twice to us by some of the graphically talented Entropians. :)

As for permissions and copyrights, any and all MA logos have been licensed to us to use as we will and the modified "E" logo on our shirts is our design which MA said they did not mind if we changed it a bit to make it ours.

For those that have watched our progress this year, some of these discussions have occurred before. I can list the EF links if it is necessary. :)

We will soon be offering more "Entropia Universe" logo'd apparel along with new designs like the winner of this contest.

And in closing, we at Entropia Outfitters have been in-game 4.5 years and over 5 years respectively. We are not new.... and will continue to contribute to the community in general whether it has anything to do with Entropia Outfitters or not. ;)

...so now.... I am ready for some cool designs. :D

While its an interesting and appealing contest one I would even think about entering, you might get a better response profit sharing with the winning artists design. I know I won't give up rights for anything I design so someone else can make a buck but I would be more apt to enter if I knew I might see some future % from the proceeds otherwise I will be hitting sites like Cafe Press or creating my own.

Most Galleries take 50% comission they also work out a contract with artists for printing rights. Its something to think about.

Good luck with the contest. Hope it works out for ya.
 
I dont realy like the idea that a "buisness" roam over this web site at all. I suggest that this thread should be moved to "entropia Universe realted" cause it seems propaganda here, in general discussion. No offence.

There was no © on that text so I used since it 100% covers what I would have written as an responce. I did change the "design" (color) a bit to get my back clear if the writer would complain.
 
Based on Sirhc's awesome suggestion, Entropia Outfitters will also split future revenue (30% for the talented winning artist) from winning shirt design. :)

Love it! I am desiging one right now....wish I had photoshop on my side, so Its pencilling in for me and scanning....I wish someone with photoshop could help! :p I have a few fun ideas :)

I would suggest that everyone who submits puts a watermark on them to prevent usage by others unless you win.

Omw I must be on a caffeine rush...Im loving this competition-I havent rendered any designs yet (might actually get a friend to help me as he uses photoshop daily) but I am getting a lot of fun stuff down on paper for sketches-theyre all cheezy and done before but with a small EU twist that hopefully will bring some smiles :)

Lots of questions here...

1) The 30% will be paid out as a PayPal transfer or in PED, up to the winner once a month with a breakdown of all the applicable orders, just as I do with the Entropia Outfitters Partner Program.
2) Entropia Outfitters will only use a design which the submitter/owner has allowed and agreed to us using in print (documented).
3) Adding a watermark to your designs in a good idea but not necessary for us.

30% of the sale price.... meaning if it sells for it's listed price, 30% of that. However, if someone decides to use a Discount or Promotion code, the sale price will be less than the normal listed price but still 30% of that sale price whatever it may be after the Discount.

Does that explain it better?

Damn I have loooads of ideas now! I have a good few pages of sketches and terrible jokes....Now time to draw them and see if I can render them properly...

p.s. is the store new? There seems to be very little in the way of items yet the website is very high quality! I am looking forward to the way this works out :)
