Developer Notes #11 - Loot 2.0

So i think it is time to come back :))

Looking foward to test it :)

I really hope they dont mess up.

Can't wait to try

This will either be amazing or a colossal fail... hard to say with MA's track record. It looks great on paper though, and I'm interested to see it.

If it's as big a change as it seems, it will be chaotic at first, since this effectively makes all of the current stats in Entropedia useless. It should also drastically change the value of many items in the game, for better or worse.

What a time to come back playing...

Exactly what i think :)
Maybe time to speculate now and buy weapons and armor, or sell them? :D

Scary and fun at the same time!!! Uff.......

Like other ppl said in here , WOW ... It seems great :eyecrazy:

But implementation, explaining how things work and actually make it WORK the way they describe , is another discussion.

Never said "Oh look this VU ,will be another revamp of old items and time to suck your PED with a huge 2 million HP mob to kill in shared loot" ....
Instead they say : "exciting new this and that", "better experience" "better graphics and blah blah" " minor fixes"

PLZ MA , make this LOOT 2.0 be really worthy of our expectations , 12 years i log in and out , i play and the n dissapointed i relog after 6 months or a year, cause I can't play the way "EU economy" is built.
Losing 2.000 peds and waiting a HOF to reclaim those peds ... and never comes , is a "shut down" situation

Really hope is made in clear and balanced way ... "NOT DYNAMIC"

Demonikos :tiphat:

One way or the other i think the changes should bring some fun. I like the direction MA is moving lately.

Thank you MA, this might make hunting way less boring..
Wondering what you'll replace ammo with.
If MA = Lazy = Shrapnel. Too short.

Sounds exciting for those who just starting and have nothing to lose...

Exactly. Those who started good luck, those who have already paid well the ogre of MA who said that we were equal  but finally it is the 2.0  you will be equal to your skills and your weapons lol it is just a hope of us Review or not ....

Exciting and scary at the same time ..

Second golden age here we come.

These are exciting times indeed. Much of the listed changes seems to be based on player feedback. Which is amazing.

Please stay on this course MA.

After all the wonderful changes, it'll still be a zero sum game - the same cake divided in a different manner.
Well, it'll surely be interesting, no doubt about that. :)

well HO.... LEE.... SHIT!

Way to go guys! This is a VERY exciting development that could really be the turning point for Entropia toward being the game we always hoped it could be.

I'm very eager to test this new system out.

B-but no whining and ragequit threats? Where is this world going to...

I'm wondering what the Calypso mobs will now drop, as the vast majority are few pecs ammo, maybe a ped or 2 shrapnel.

So those few pecs ammo just gonna be shrapnel instead, giving us a guaranteed mu of 101%. Yay (not).

Or will we finally start to see wool etc. drop again, so I can at least craft it up?

This :eyecrazy: , but wait .... lets see if it really works , lets see if it wont be a mistake somewhere and make rich some guy overnight , lets just see if it works and IF it will work flawless , I can say only Gratz MA , and I might fall again in love with the game.
But still some wow ideas out there .

A profession level requirement will be introduced for non-(L) armors. Meeting the required level results in the armor offering full protection at all condition values. If the profession requirement is not met, armor works as before, with protection decreasing relative to condition.

this means that the MU on UL armors will go up up up :eyecrazy:

MindArk has been monitoring the community discussions concerning so-called 'loot waves' and will implement changes in the Loot 2.0 and subsequent Version Updates that will address this issue by improving the distribution of resources and items, with the goal of ensuring that loot opportunities are more interesting, dynamic and fair for all participants

For optimal loot, it will be important to avoid inefficiencies such as low damage output compared to creature health, excessive time and cost to kill, overkill damage, unmaxed weapons and other factors.
hmm...

so low damage weapons that avoid overkill won't be as much of a factor as dps? Wonder if there'll be a 'loot timer' where the loot gets worse with each subsequent second but then you get taxed on the overkill?

Also, does removing ammo from loot mean nanocubes are going in?

depends on the level requirement... perhaps we should suggest to them the levels they need to add... otherwise we may end up with level 70 needed for gremlin or something silly like that.

What I REALLY wish they'd do is change the way sib works... 0/10 ha before you are in the learning period 'hurts' badly, and I suspect causes a lot of new folks to end up super uneco since they don't realize what's going on til they've burned some ped. When they redid it a while back to make what used to be 2/10 become 5/10 or something, it helped, but more could be done... Old school weapons should be converted to something like sib, but without the 0/10 part of it if possible before you meet whatever they randomly require as the level requirement

It's kinda insane and weird that at my level (16 or is it 17 - haven't checked in a while) katsuichi determination (my favorite blade) is 4.5/10 or something, but the adjusted version is 0/10. Makes me wonder if they'll do likewise with other stuff, or be 'more smart' about it.

irl I used to work at a casino a while back. Some of what reading this makes me think about is the days when the casino would do slot tournaments, so button mashing craziness would consume a short period of time... vs the regulars just spinning the wheels at slow descent rate... Will this need to up dps cause something similar in game... instead of hunting for hours at a time, it'd be better to come in hard and heavy for 10-20 minute increments? Imagine getting penalized for auction browsing, or my ol favorite hobby of interior decorating, lol.

Also, for once and all get rid of the decay on clothes... you did it for armor, so do it for clothes. Kinda irritating that my old arctic clothes from the thing finally are too low to be used, especially since they updated the blasted shopkeeper code after I posted about how you could use it on them at that low level...

Maybe... also... perhaps... let us put items back in the hallways on calypso since you can on other planets... Won't do much on the loot side, but would make folks that loot shopkeepers happy. ;)

and... about that shop directory... ...

hmm...

That would be interesting, MA removing nanocubes from TT, adding to hunting loot/crafting loot.

101% shrapnel, 101% nanocube. 105% oils. Me gusta

This just means I will get higher % returns if I continue to hunt eco ^_^.

Only exception is the fact that they mentioned a penalty in the information.

Here >

That note is slightly concerning me at the moment...

Diddo that... makes me wonder what will happen to this little 2-5 damage viper whip and similar ul toys. Am I gonna regret buying that chon because of your thread?

This could be interesting if they start throwing buffs on old school stuff...

What a time to come back playing...

I'm in agreement here. Sold out about 3 years ago, mostly because I didn't have much time to play, but also because I didn't really like the trend that was happening in MA's financials. Always stayed interested and lurking the forums and such. Once you've played a game with these kinds of stakes, no other game really seems worth it.

Just started dabbling around again in the last few weeks since I have a little more time on my hands and I'm seeing positive signs in the company numbers. Then this comes up! Very interesting indeed! Hopefully they make good on the promise.

Have to imagine this will drive up markups across the board a little bit. Better returns should get more people playing and churning, increasing demand for stuff. Even if it's so good that lots of people simply TT their loot, it'll still have the same effect by keeping the supply low. Hopefully they address the crafting system in this too. I always thought ~40% success rate on crafting attempts seems a little strange. Excited to see what they bring to the table!

where is the catch?...

nah i see the 101% bonus for shrapnel been removed and all ammo is now shrapnel, hopefully EP would then require shrapnel

First impression: Did MA replace their CEO and their whole management team in 2016 Q4?
Deeper thoughts: This must be MA trolling us by pulling off the unimaginable. They actually listened?
Conclusion: This could be a great turning point in EU history. Hunting system will be much better than before. My best hopes that MA did the right thing this time.

All hail Loot 2.0! :handgun:
