As title says, looking to know what the main difference between mining amps are? For example: what is the main difference between a D-class amp and a normal lvl type amp?

Maybe this helps.

Higher efficiency = higher drop cost/decay, so this is not the same concept as efficiency in hunting.

The wiki is down right now, but all you really need to do is sort amps by decay to figure out how they “rank”. If you have two identical amps like level 8 and D-class, you want to go with whatever one has lower MU. Ones like D-class or the Terra amp series are just from different planets, so there’s usually no real difference other than look.

Some amps like the Athena series do have a buff, so that’s the only exception to the above.

mining amps can affect the loot composition you get, some bigger amps wont allow you to get some "super rare" ores.
but mostly its a bankroll situation honestly. a level 5 amp is an all around good amp to use most the time its lowest %mu and it still gives you a pretty good cycle rate. if you are hunting for very very rare ores/enmatters you sometimes need to use no amp or a very small amp. its just something youll need to play around with and figure out yourself.

Also the type of finder and skills play part in findings. Using a maxed out teramaster 8 even when amped can give you different results compared to a amped 105.

If you double the efficiency, that will give you your cost in PEDS per entry/drop. (Decay of amp)
Higher level amps is higher risk/longer cycle to achieve a more stable TT return.
Stay small work your way up, find what works for you.

If bored and like to gamble high level amps are for you. But remember the more fun you have the More it costs.

kind of irrelevant, they are asking the difference between amps not finders. like i said at the end of my post (you have to figure it out yourself.) depths, amps ect

This can't be correct, lvl 5 amp doesn't cost 20ped per drop does it? And lvl13 does not cost 200ped per drop im pretty sure.

That does scale correctly though if you divide those numbers by 10 though. Efficiency is just an odd scale, so no one really uses it since you can just compare decay.

That might be the case but just doubling the efficiency is incorrect, double efficiency and divide by 10, sure!

Good rule of thumb, keep your amperage efficiency under your mining prof level.
Don't use a level 13 amp at level 5. You will not be efficient or even close to optimal return.
Its nearly the same concept as SIB.

SIB stay within SIB or under max level.
Hunting keep mob level under looter level.
Mining keep amp eff under mining level.

Efficiency overall is kind of confusing,
In weapons, it should be considered more of a measure of how consistent loot is.
In mining, its more a measure of the multiplication modifier on claim size. But is also a fairly good level indicator for maxxed amp, so to speak.

Mapping areas to know where markups or items you need at given markup or needs is probably more important overall for return than choice of amp.
If once you know a certain ore is at a place, you can move up, but like was said, you will lose some markup detection with not enough skill for higher amp.

If only.....maybe some day when MA gives some love to mining....
