Was there ever a way for the screens in EU to display dynamic content , or have they always been as they are right now?

I can see why MA might not want to allow this but just wondered if this was ever an available feature
 
In the past you were able to upload video in Bink format to some of screens, but the option was removed 3+ years ago.
 
Shame that , If it were not so easy to abuse would be a really great way to engage with people within the game.

I guess it was removed to avoid copyright issues within the uploaded content.

Probably yeah but if screens could only be placed in an estate then there could be some accountability.
 
Really cool those pics on that video , another nice addition would be to allow streaming content.
That would really make things come alive .

Thanks, but wasnt just pics was videos as well - check from 1:45min onwards :)

Issue with it was that if you put to many pictures and videos in one place it would lag the passing avatars until each of them had completely loaded the content - likely why they removed it.

Life streaming would have been even more problematic, they had a procedure in place to take the uploader in responsibility to not violate copyrights and/or display porn - with life streaming you can only punish an avatar after it has already been done and no longer prevent it from happening.
Remember when they introduced proximity voice and some people started annoying others with streaming all kinds of shit extra loud ? It basically lead to many people switching off proximity sounds or sounds of entropia alltogether, which is a shame because it made the universe feel so much more real.
But if they enabled life streaming, things could get out of hand very quickly if they dont fix the altaccount issue and introduce true responsibilities of players for the actions of their avatars first.

normally it's possible to block content with copyright, porn is another problem if there's no copyright
for example when i stream to twitch i sometimes put videos from youtube to hide chat or some music i have
twitch knows what thing is copyrighted or not from analysis of the finished stream (so when i stream it doesn't block anything)
so with a more accurate system i'm sure a stream hoster can detect copyrighted things while the stream is going on and block this content
and there's the other thing too, for example with youtube, if i put a video on it and i use copyrighted musics, the video isn't blocked if i put all the reference to tune/composer in the description of the video for the copyrighted things
