Entropia Universe 18.7.0 Pre-Release Notes

On board with the tech improvements!! finding mobs will be so much easier now - can we get them to help with crafting recipes too? and mining locations? and recommended mobs for skill levels and weapon choices? AI is way to go MA omg keep it up!

"Each Immersive Companion adapts to your one-on-one interactions, making conversations feel personal and responsive."

These AIs are going to be so corrupted for some of the people I've seen in rookie chat. They're going to be going on about how skill gains happen when you're close to mining resources and how the color of the ground changes the loot a mob can have.

@Ludvig|MindArk Could we have one Android AI that is geared towards answering specific questions like mob locations with waypoints etc and with 100% accuracy. Also other specific questions players may have and have no personality or interest in such things. A kind of a bland business like question and answer workhorse that just answers questions as accurately as possible. This android should be able to answer questions for the whole of Calypso possibly space as well.

This particular android maybe should be named Android 42 (reference to hitch hikers guid to galaxy).

The other androids can continue doing what they are doing e.g. personalities etc in there locality.

The point here is to have two completely separate development aims for AI. The android 42 route and the other route that you have in mind.

I may would be too, but to be honest, Witcher 1 game from 2007 had NPCs that "living" their life in the game, depending on which time of the day you wanted to talk with an NPC, you would find it at his home, at work, at the pub, or on his way from one to the other, you tried to talk with it at wrong time, it said i need to go to work find me later at home, etc. A game from 2007 had this, the only difference is the pre-written stuff vs AI generated conversation.
Daily routines for NPCs in video games date back quite a long time. In fact, I recall that Ultima V: Warriors of Destiny, released in 1988, was one of the first games to introduce this concept. In Ultima V, NPCs followed their own schedules, performing different activities throughout the day, such as working, eating, or sleeping, which added a significant layer of immersion to the game world.

For additional details, you can refer to the following sources:
These links provide further insights into the game's design and how it implemented NPC behavior.

Can we have crafted holografic "IPAD´s" that summons a hologram of a "buddy" that you can interact with anywhere and ask questions or guidence or just to Roleplay with?

It would be cool if we had a braclet attachment we could equip and unequip that works something similar to a pipboy from the fallout universe.
I would pay PED´s to have one!

those npcs, are...stupid and ugly...
is the most ridiculous and silly one ive ever saw, its so pathetic...and &%'($'( ;)
argh

At Camp Icarus there are three of this new NPC standing together right next to the Teleport. I don't get it. What's the point?

One tells you to go explore, the other that you need to go to Atlas Haven as soon as possible and the other didn't even interact with you. Also there's another one on first floor of the building like 10m apart from the Teleport.

Looks like they are trying to fill the empty cities with talking NPCs.

One here and there giving you some hits okay, but why three of them near each other's telling you different things? Should I explore around or go to Atlas Haven? And why are they always repetitive? That is not AI, not even close.

I welcome all new colonists to Calypso but those tin cans are biggest mistake Calypso Colonial Ministry has authorized to be constructed to this date.

Robots or synths cant be trusted!

Who has always been our main enemy and biggest risk to the safety of Colony?

Sorry sometimes i larp too hard. 😁

I was asking because I couldn't come to a conclusion whether those AI-things will be good or bad for us and the game.

I mean we have friends, society and random encounters among players that have been fulfilling those needs. There was a question and hopefully someone knew an answer or could help somehow.

Now AI should theoretically help to answer questions that none of the available players were able to answer, which is great. However, AI can also answer questions "everyone knows". So the social part of the game may go down even lower (those who play the game long enough will remember that there was more talking than even today).

In other words I'd be fine to have a "fact-bot" around with a simple Q&A-kind of interface. I don't see the need to have an "emotional bot" around who also answers questions, but requires a "how's the weather?"-kindish smalltalk at first and who claims to be annoyed or unhappy otherwise when we don't fulfil "its needs". That's what we have us - the players - for, no?

Guessing from the current quality of the bots it's hard to argue either way for me. The current status is that those AI-things fail to get simple contexts of conversation:

Me: What mobs are here?
AI: That depends on where you are.
Me: I'm standing right next to you.
AI: Welcome to Naval TP!

Like, huh? Where do we start from here?

Also bots must have access to our inventories, storage, society and skills, which all should work fine in accordance with GDPR, IMHO (OK, society might be an issue).

Instead of an NPC I think it would be very cool if all players got a tablet/smartphone-like device that contains this AI, ask it questions from where ever we are.
Maybe the NPC can evolve into that eventually?
Entropia pokedex.

You know, I do believe we are getting to them... Jenny on the PA Mall block seemed totally unmoved by my sudden end at her feet after exiting Quad too high... her advice, solid though it was, seemed trite : "Be careful out there".

I think they have PTSD already.

the AI is an interesting idea but they are a bit too limited and on-rails right now for them to be of any real use. any but the most new players know more about the game world than they do, and they are pretty boring to talk to. anyone have better experiences than i have?
