Entropia Universe - Now in 49 Languages

Live today, Entropia Universe will now support 49 different languages, making the game more accessible to millions of gamers across the world.

For our existing players not from an English speaking country, you will now be able to experience the Entropia Universe you know and love in your own native language - and there has never been a better time to invite your friends to play with you!

To change the language, you can now select your preferred language from the Client Loader before launching the game, within the Tools section. We will continue to work on improvements to this new feature with your valuable feedback.

This new capability, along with other upcoming changes and improvements set the stage for Entropia Universe to bring in new gamers from around the world.

MindArk plans to begin marketing directly towards these new markets, working with creators, platforms and more around the world to build a strong global community for Entropia.

We hope you are as excited as we are for what this new feature represents for the continued growth and success of Entropia Universe.

That's actually nice

Inventarie, brothers just call it "fråd" no body uses that word in the Swedish language. :)

Mission log updated to see better, but why will still miss search in mission log?
Is it so hard to implement?

Can we unselect languages, like we unselect planets to download? Nope, thought not. Thanks for the gig!
(wonder if genesis probe planets will be compulsory download too...)

What needs to be done to update? Automatic update is not downloaded

While expanding to more languages might seem like a good idea on paper, it will have unintended consequences. Some regions, particularly parts of Asia, have a long history of highefficiency playstyles focused on grinding and gold farming, calculated and frugal player isn't the one MA should looking for. This will lead to increased pressure on the economy, especially on markup, which is already in decline. Instead of stabilizing the market, this move accelerate its deterioration. From my experience in Etropia, most of the time players from the east absurdly haggle for every cent.

glad that Korean is supported!
But the handwriting isn't so pretty lol
It's like watching an online game 20 years ago

But the biggest problem is that
can't use loot tracking programs like 'Entropia Tally' or 'Entropia Hunter'
that Korean has been updated, but it's a shame that I can't use it

Still a good update though

Very good move. There probably will be some cringe if those translations were made by AI without oversight of native speakers, and given the sheer number this seems unlikely. Let's see how feedback is dealt with and implemented, if this works it can become very good over time.

I can’t believe what I’m seeing! Can it be true? Mindark finally marketing to draw in new players and create demand so we have a flourishing economy? *happy dance*

I'm surprised you thought that way about Westerners and Easterners :)

I think it's just a difference between people, not a difference between East and West.

I'm a loser in a market economy who buys high and sells low, and I think buying fast and selling fast saves time. I don't have enough time to hunt, so I think haggling over prices is a waste of time, and I enjoy hunting, but I'm not frugal and I don't save on hunting expenses.

Unfortunately, I'm an Easterner :)
What if I thought the same way about Westerners as you?
I've also seen many Westerners who try to make a huge profit by bargaining when selling something. But I don't divide East and West like you do. It's just different for each person.

Do (Ai) NPC's also talk in other languages?

The new marketing director is Socrates - check out the Q&A Bonnie did with him on Youtube. We are in seriously competent hands now. Finally.

Wow, finally something worth looking forward to, now please start advertising all across the globe, maybe we actually get some new players in and make the economy flourish again...

Impressive, maybe this is why the stock is moving.

I don't see Jive as an option.

I tried the German version and reverted back to English. I'm afraid I got excited about this too soon. I think it's a good idea in principle, but... this will take a long time to get right and only after those in charge realise that such a lazy approach doesn't cut it. Heck even current translation engines without further editing are better than that, so I wonder how this is even possible. - https://www.deepl.com/en/translator#en/de/Ancient Greece

Nah, I take this back, I tried to use my language and I nearly burst in to tears. Please revert back to only english, I have not seen a more lazy, disconsiderate and shitty attempt to offer multilingual options in a game, ever in my life before.

It's also the language I'd be able to evaluate, but I wish to keep my current examples of the worst translation jobs done in modern times as they are for now. I thus prefer to remain ignorant here, although usually I'm up for improving my knowledge even of how bad things can get.
As someone who has actually translated software menus, with often just one word in the original language and very limited space to convey that meaning in a different one, I accept that good translators would cost a lot and even the best AIs might get rather lost, despite their capabilities.

By the way, I believe that the Jive example above, when dubbed into German, used Bavarian. There is also an RL example of a stewardess on a flight to Stuttgart saying goodbye to the passengers in the local dialect, hoping they all get back safely to their nests :).
