News: Entropia Universe - Now Launching on Steam

Thats great news.
I will be interested to read the Overall user reveiws from a new players perspective

I hope MindArk made a list of pros / cons before deciding to join steam.
Too much exposure isn't always the best option in the long term, you did a good job staying "under the radar", keep that in mind MA.

The pictures on entropias steam page need to be changed there need to be more action shots
The majorty of the pictures after the video are just empty wandering
I personally mute every video and just look at the pictures since the trend on steam is for the lead video to just be a movie trailer not gameplay
The page needs a picture of a big group hunt , a miner hitting a tower, a crafter surrounded by people, and an off auction house trader where you can see people actively trading like twin peaks mall, A space hunt, an underwater hunt, a solo instance with a timer counting down. Accepting and or turning in quests
I like this game I play this game and those pictures dont sell me infact with what i see i couldnt tell you really anything at all about the game

on steam, bug-filled games get trashed by people pretty quickly
Best would be there is a button to inform Dev's when you encounter a Rock, Plant etc. where you get stuck so they can get rid of this. It ruins the gameplay immensely especially if you are in a place where you can't deploy a Vehicle to enter to free you from that mess.
Oh yeah and while you at it why not finally get rid of the Argo Cave problem, different location of Mob and Hitbox, you introduced with one of your Updates?

Oh dear lord. There will be SO MANY negative reviews. I hope MA is ready.

And I would really like to write a positive but at this point I just cant.

Yeah please sort this, split it to a general chat and an actual rookie chat.

Any player chatting political nonsense in rookie gets banned from rookie for a period of time. General chat is left open as a shit show free for all which is what rookie currently is.
Must say as new player. I read rookie sometime and then closed it. So i agree on this. 👍

I think this is a great news for EU. Besides a new player influx It will bring a lot of push to MA to deliver quality. The perfect moment for this might never come, at the same time you might miss the whole window of opportunity alltogether if you keep waiting and waiting.

Reviews in 1 week: "Overwhelmingly Negative"

You want to swim in waters where things are that bite, be my guest :p

A harsh reality check might be coming once those reviews start making their way here.

I see this as a great step and appreciate that mindark is putting eu on Steam.

A lot of opportunity with this.

Please listen to the reviews, remember your old veteran clients, and make those much needed changes.

Just dont forget who supported you all these years, dont step on the old players too much ;)

It's a clear sign they have 0 marketing people or experience. Literally 1 action shot out of 4 and 3/4 use the same fucking armor in a virtual world where there's literally hundreds and each has value. It's honestly embarrassing

Bold move, any influx of new players is always welcome. Though with a moderate update coming shortly after and MA's history with updates it is an interesting choice for timing.
I would have thought they would've had the new starting area sorted out already and ease that pressure before it happened. Now not only do they need to impress/attract new paying customers, a few weeks later the new player area is updated and the new customer doesnt get to use it/ has leveled past the shiny new update. If something breaks with the update the new customer gets to see the harsh reality of what they get for there money.

ill be watching the reviews on steam popcorn on the ready and waiting for actual changes to happen.

Steam so brutal.... that's how you knew if it was worth to spend 60$ on a game.... This will get some new meat for a little bit, but the end result will be clear left in the bin with the rest.... im curious to read the reviews aswell no filter lol

I am excited. I just hope a bunch of people don't go into it the wrong way. I worry that some new players will put money into the game, lose it fast due to not understanding how the game works, then quit and write a bad review. I think if we all try our best to help new players understand how different this game is compared to others, that this can really take off in a positive direction.

Best is we can do for the community is to point them in a few direction, teach them how to avoid scams, tell them what excites us about playing the game, give them some useful tutorials to read into and build a knowledge base, try and align expectations with the reality. These are stuffs anyone at any level should read into and take into consideration from the active playerbase, even if they started yesterday or 20 years ago...
Remember the voice in the Medusa Mall saying: "adopt a newbie or two..." :)

Reviews will be reviews, people expressing how they feel. Some people can see past those, some people will want to read just the bad stuff, nothing can do about so the focus should be on what we can actually do for the game we love

Mindark's retention rate for new paying customers is abysmal, (from Mindark's financial reports).
I would like to be optimistic and welcome new marketing channels, but as someone pointed out, I really don't think Mindark has considered the pros and cons of this action. Time will tell.
In my opinion, this just feels like it will only reach a larger audience of negativity and ultimately turn even more people away from playing Entropia.

hmm .. i could already play entropia thru my steam if i wanted to by adding it as a non steam game . so im curious what differences will be when its officially launched will it launch the launcher we use not or a different launcher? and is this engine change also maybe early unreal5?

also i think some things need to change or some new players will leave just as fast when they realize that some of the mobs they hunt they wont get any loot back and then notice some git is shooting the same mob they shoot basically kill stealing this is gonna happen alot i think as common areas get overcrowded fast .. which also makes me wonder how can the game cope if there is a surge in players?

perhaps the game might need to do something similar to how runescape 3 handled it by having worlds for example camp icarus #1 #2 .... #50 and so on
either way it will be interesting to see how this pans out hope it goes good :)

I am already excited to see hordes of sweaters rampaging from one ambu to the other like it used to be the case back in 2007 :king:
ye let`s bringback the rubberbanding 5 steps forward - 6 steps back that was fun as hell

At the very least, this should have been paired with a revamp of the new player experience or the mentoring system.

Instead of just... new starter packs...

Regardless, best of luck to MA and the shareholders

I wonder how the revenue sharing with Steam is going to work?

I'm tempted to uninstall the game and play via Steam for convenience, but won't this mean Steam takes a piece of whatever I cycle?
