The SPECIAL AI is nothing but making the feff move in a circle when it attacks you. Making auto shooting near impossible and 10k mission a PITA.

Please MA/SDS DONT NOT IMPLEMENTED THIS SPECIAL AI !!!!!!!! it is bugged beyond stupidity. ANd fire the dude who made the AI as it is destroying the very basics of hunting/grinding !

Its funny that people were moaning about the lack of variety in Mobs AI just the other day, and they present a change and then people just moan that they did it. I do kinda feel sorry for them in that sense, impossible to get anythign right
 
Isnt this like the papoo in Next Island? If you dont move your crosshair it retains the original focus.

I could be wrong.

And I did stop hunting them. But I didnt asked for a AI that behaves that way. It was fine as it was. And if you find moving in a circle special then srry ... but that is no variety in a AI ..

Every hunter at Fort Fury kinda is annoyed now ... if they implemented this behavior to every mob .. then expect a lot of grinders to stop

..same as with those Hiryuus. They dive from time to time to make shooting on auto impossible but if u keep the crosshair at a certain point at which focus isn't lost when it dives u can, actually.

But LOL IMPROVED AI = WALKING IN CIRCLES!?

What kind of genius did they hire as their new 20% of the staff!? :laugh:
 
Well the hiryuu indeed have the same as the tesla only you can postion the crisshair indeed and still hit it . The feff just moves around you making you turn every single shot (and miss shots in that way too)
 
Ok, i see now. Nothing like the papoo that actually run in a circle in front of you. The Feffoids are side stepping to the side of you, not quickly so its not that bad but makes it more challenging in that, yes you actually have to move to continue to shoot it.

Are players happier just standing completely still shooting a mob? Its like watching paint dry.
 
Last time when MA updated mob AI change consisted in double mob hp and much higher regen rate.
So i think that today AI change is minor nerf compared with one i past.
Maybe long range guns can help. Feff can side step but sooner or later have to run to you.

Well if you need to grind 16600 mobs then yes. Put on a nice DVD/Blueray/Anime tv series and voila off we go.

Anyways I rather love that feffs avoid the stuck places (which they still dont) , move around bit more, fight with each other . More that kind of behaviour. Now the special thing is only that they annoy the hunter more .. well woopie do ... that took a 11.9 release to implement
 
Because of this new "feature" I'm probably going to have to stop hunting feffoids as much as that pains me...

about time some better ai started coming in to game.
 
If i am understanding the new ai sounds kinda crappy way to nerf hunting, but on the other hand for years people been crying for better ai. I guess we gotta be careful what we ask for :(
 
a better AI would be to make the mob find it's way towards you without getting suck in a tree and becoming unreachable. that's a necessary improvement, and not just make dumb variations on something unwanted.

regarding the new movements of the feffs, does it work if you activate both "auto aim" and "move to target"? i usually activate both while hunting itumas, and the ava can keep shooting correctly even when the itumas are jumping, or if they turn direction while running.
 
I'm gonna keep hunting Feffoids, and I always give a thumbs up to games that have good AI. But this is kind of iffy atm.

As we all know its pretty tough being able to solo out Feffoids around Fort Fury, whether it be 4 spawned on same spot or just due to the high respawn rate. Now imagine having 4 Feffoids on you doing the new Special AI. They cross paths almost every 20 seconds which DOES turn off auto tool.

*I don't use auto-tool too often TBH, I prefer first-person mode and like to simulate the shooting the best I can.*

But even being in first-person mode and doing all the aiming/shooting yourself manually, it's still tough when you have 3 or 4 of them on you. Now I know some of you are gonna respond by saying things like "Well then just fight 1 or 2 at a time" and like I said its tough. If you have another person within your radar and they aggro 5 of them, it's gauranteed that 3 of those Feffoids are gonna come to you.

~Now like I said above, I'm all for "smarter" AI. AI that maybe does try to get the flank on you, doesn't just run into a solid tree allowing their enemy (the human player) to glitch them on the other side of it. The occasional spin would be acceptable, but I would say constant spinning like it is now is a little overboard. AI is what makes a game GREAT, but AI is also what makes a game HORRIBLE. I think MA has a nice start to a "smarter" AI system, but just needs to work out the kinks and I'm sure that it will come in time, and I am willing to wait, just like any other bug fix does in any game.~

... yes, I'm using auto and for that reason alone the number of missed shots should not be that big

While I welcome some of the improvements (like the grace period on login) I hope this "special AI" is just in a test phase and they plan to significantly improve it ... therefore I wouldn't blame the developers but the "smart" manager that decided to run this test on one of the most hunted mobs in the game ... put this behaviour on a much less popular mob and see player's feedback, not blow it big from the start ... my 2c
Seriously 4% so your hit avg is down to 86% now????

And lets not forget this, remember the new "special" camera movement that was implemented on melee weapons a while back which was removed the same day or the day after? (also falling dmg which was tweaked a bit)
So lets hope they realize this "special" AI is a big mistake and will be tweaked a bit this week...

- same poor loot for which you need at least a global/hof to break even
- same high rate of no looters (this run was 1st time I saw a no looter Clan Warlord :eyecrazy: )
- almost 4% increase in the number of missed shots (compared to my avg)

tbh I would expect feff hunting to drop significantly for some time ... the new "feff dancing" called special AI is frustrating especially if u have more than one mob on you ... on a single mob you could compensate easier by turning your ava ... once is more than one they tend to "hide" behind one another and you loose time ... shots ... decay ...

yeah that's what I thought too especially when you look at the current state of AI in other games... :laugh:
All this new feature does is make MA more money and in a very obvious way...
 
Good improvement...Just have to wait until all mobs jump like Itumas and in circles, now that would be something. Perhaps mix feff/ituma and Hiruyu movements and we got some kinda freak, impossible to fire upon.

Also feffoid-maffoid regeneration is insanely high. I strongly suggest SEE reduces their regen. rate ASAP.

I find lower hit % very hard to credit. As far as loot goes - if you have never had a no looter Clan Warlord before and have killed more than 100 Feffoids total, STFU you lucky bastard!

Less people hunting feffoids? hmm... might not be too bad actually. Maybe they could do something similar with drones too. Make them run at you in a zig-zag pattern and then circle you. Smarter mobs should have more complex and challenging behaviors.

Seriously - EU hunting has been too boring for too long. I hate when people who see me hunt in EU ask "how can you do this boring shit for more than 10 minutes"? It should be a exciting, complex activity. There should be more to hunting drones vs bristlehogs than "use an armor with burn/penetration protection instead of electric".

the 'special AI' needs some work obviously...but some improvements/changes are better than none. i think a perfect fix would be if mobs interacted with each other, the biggest problem with the circle moving is when you're fighting multiple mobs at once and they walk through each other. this is fixed if mobs are made to bump into one another. lets face it this makes hunting a bit more challenging, the days of the boring un-challenging grinding are disappearing quickly. i'm sure they won't make this special AI movement a standard for all mobs, for one they left it up to the planet owners to implement it or not. im also sure this is just the beginning, lets have more jumping/moving/flying/hoping/somersaults/cartwheels please. its about time things got interesting, it adds some much needed variety and challenge to the game.
 
I can only imagine the "Group Behaviour" announced in 2004...in todays Entropia... ;S
