Hello everyone, I remember when VU10 just come out, I count not play it for months, I was very close to leaving PE for good, but then I researched a few little tweaks.

So give it a try, it will smooth the game alot at a cost of a few things, all particals, water and cloud effects have been removed, and most of the smaller vegtation, also lighting had been cute down and shadow + shading removed.
All designed to improve fps. This file also cuts some resolution, but that wouldnt be noticable to much.

Step 1: Search you'r system for settings-ce.cfg

Step 2: open the file and overwrite with this script:
Code:
-- [System-Configuration]

If you wish to find out more about the lines of code for a more detailed custom tweak, check out http://www.tweakguides.com/

If you experience a problem and wish to contact mindark about your problem, reinstall the game and see if you still have the same problem with out editing the file.

I hope that clears up everything and hope to see some of the players missing out soon <(n.n)> c ya

Note: there is a very much improved version of this script on page 2

I read up on it and it is fine, you are only editing the quality using the cryengine settings of the game not the game itself

yes, its just an even more advanced version of the "advanced" grafics window.. sort of

BTW if you have any questions about any of the commands, I will answer if I can for you, aso if any of you lot have any ideas to make the script better please do tell, I am aiming for speed on lower end rigs, not the best your system can push it!

One of my mates who just joined PE will be doing a max rig setting script with all the effects af crysis, and the script above should be perfect, but like i said, im only human so any other ideas would be good. It works so well MA might want to look over it themselfs as a new ultra low setting.

MindArk's official statement concerning this:

--

We have followed the customization work of the community, and we appreciate the willingness you have shown to assist each other.

However, there is the possibility that manual modifications of the cfg files might render the system unplayable, unstable and even harmful for the computer. It is also very difficult for support to handle cases if manual changes of the cfg files were allowed.

The purpose of the Options GUI is to restrict settings to within certain limits that we know are not harmful. For that reason, the EULA 2.2 does not allow manual modification of cfg files. For the same reason, manual cfg editing will be restricted in future updates.

We will continue to improve the Options GUI with new visual configuration settings to enhance control of the settings and still ensure all settings are compatible, appropriate and easily accessible. To this end, we value the feedback you have given us.

I found it a little later, windows 7 limits a root search for some really dumb reason.

would you be able to make a config file for the best possible fps but still use all the available low quality skins and textures.

I play on a damn inspiron 1525 and would love to be able to pvp again.

@Nikto

sadly it is reasons like that are pushing players like me away over and over, i still think vu10 was a bad idea, its like ive always said, if it not broke dont fix it, and now MA is forever fixing....

@Aeris_is_back and everyone else whos intrested

this file still has textures, but not advance texturing, you can tweak each indevidualley, click on the link below the script in the first post, it will tell you alot more about the commands, so far ive managed to break this and that experimenting, but nothing unrefixable, in one test i lost all items and wielded tools because i set them beyond the viewable ranger, ive also done the same thing with player character with only the guns left floating in the air (that one was fun, hay look im a floating gun)

editing can leave to 2 things: crashing the game, setting to high, glitching the game, setting to low, remeber if you are editing, always copy the starting file 1st, so you can just go back whene things go wrong!

I'm from other side - I want better settings :( (something like Ultra High)

And i still think VU 10.0 was great move. Sad, what MA limit ability to choose/edit settings like we want, since default very bugged and not best at all (bugged shadows with hall, bugged avatars look in water, invisible avatar from 50-75, bugged LOD for a lot of objects etc. etc.).
But i miss old EU, and I would prefer if MA will upgrade old Eudoria, and didn't create new from scratch.

Btw, try to vote about ability to edit config, more peoples voting - higher chances, what MA will change his point of view about that.

I will cos that was great lol

I have slightly upgraded the CE-code,

Fixs:
Signs dont tile themselfs anymore
the player view range has been set a little higher
slight texture quality and light improvements

Lowest Spec:
(Office Style Laptop)
Memory: 2048MB (2GB)
Graphics Card: Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU T2330 1.66GH@x2 (3.32GH)

Other Notes:
At the lowest spec as stated above the game will be a little jumpy, but very much playable. If you wish to go lower than the spec above, try my other script on page 1 but expect hardly any quality.

Step 1: Search you'r system for settings-ce.cfg

Step 2: open the file and overwrite with this script:

e_ambient_occlusion - Add realism to local reflection models by taking into account attenuation of light due to occlusion
e_dynamic_light - Computer graphical lighting that is dynamic
e_dynamic_objects_dist - Light distance from player to be rendered on objects (PE uses more light on objects than terrain)
e_dynamic_terrain_dist - Light distance from player to be rendered (Terrain)
e_max_entity_lights - Max lights able to be seen by player
e_sun_clipplane_range - in order to prevent the renderer from calculating surfaces at an extreme distance from the viewer
e_particles - 0/1 particals enable/disable
e_particles_lights - particals with light
r_Beams - 0/1 enable/disable beams
r_BeamsDistFactor - max distance of beam within viewable player range
r_BeamsMaxSlices - Max Beams
r_Coronas - The camara style orbs from the sun or other bright lights
r_FillLights - lights on object
r_Flares - Object/Partical Flares
r_Glow - Lighting glows
r_GlowScreenMultiplier - How the glow multiplys
r_LightsSinglePass - Single-pass Scalable Subsurface Rendering with Lightcuts completing light paths
r_PostProcessEffects - Can effect some lighting effects...
r_sunshafts - underwater light beams from the sun
r_UseSoftParticles - Some soft particals can be lighted (not sure if PE uses this exacly)

e_shadows - 1/0 shadows on/off
e_shadows_cast_view_dist_ratio - shadow distance ratio
e_shadows_max_texture_size - max shadows texture size
e_shadows_on_alpha_blended - shadows blend in alpha channel (transparent channel)

I also found that my second script removes the anoying over the top green glow when sweating.... yay.... well sorta....

lots of good information here, combine that with a few hours on google you can get the game running on your system with reasonable performance. you will only have to relog 50 times to get it all done.

I know ma has issues with us changing files, but if it makes the game more playable there is little anyone can say to that and I don't think they will take action on our accounts for such changes.

well like i said, you are not editing the game in any way... you are only editing the cryengine settings, which will not effect gameplay, only performance, so i dont see any problem.

Jon 'NEVERDIE' Jacobs agrees with me, ive got the VU BLues~

Damn that guy really thinks he's a whole something...
in my opinion that would be something to clean the toilet with. My toilet brush and him almost look like twins.

Back to topic:

You say re-installing if the config not works, I don't see the use of that
why not just first copy original config and rename it to: config.cfg.old (or something like that)
then You can just rename it and delete the faulty one.

Get a bit of cash out of the game and find some new machine or parts of one?

I shopped a fairly regular cheep pack, a packard bell (yeah I spent two hours uninstalling preinstalled junk) - and after tweaking win7 to my liking it runs smoofly. Max graphics only 30 fps but good enough. 1gb gpu, 4gb ram, junk dual core amd, 1tb hdd in two discs and a 22" flatscreen (which will get a boot as soon as I track down a nice LED one).

Cost: 650€ (bit less than that, both the euro and the usd rather cheap vs swedish currency a few months now).

I volontarily locked my account when I noticed I wasn't even able to install the game on my old comp (and when it finally inserted itself properly I could barely open the splash start screen). Once I actually sat down to look for a cheap-o big pack comp, it took all of three hours total to find and decide on one.

Max settings look great but regardless of gpu the game models still move like ex speed addicts - bit twitchy and repetetive postures that needs an overhaul.

Damn that guy really thinks he's a whole something...

Did you take the time to talk to him? Great chat, nice person and highly dedicated and ambitious. Didn't see at all since a few months after he shopped ND but it would surprise me a lot if he changed enough to merit such flaming.

Yes, that stupid, but that official MA's point of view :(

At VU 10.3, ma appeared to have put everything sensitive inside .pak files, so by judging from that, as long as you don't change them (=the .pak files) you should be fine.

We will continue to improve the Options GUI with new visual configuration settings to enhance control of the settings and still ensure all settings are compatible, appropriate and easily accessible. To this end, we value the feedback you have given us.

If MA would mean general graphic options, they would have added options to the graphical window, which they yet haven't done. For instance, after more than 6 months with VU10, there is still no option in the graphic options to invividually "x" and "y" in the window size, as there was in VU 9. I sent in a suppor ticket I wanted it, and imho since there was in VU 9 and it's technically possible to accomplish, it should be no biggie to actually implement it. And beside the normal "stay tuned to news on this site"-answer 6 months ago nothing has happened.

(I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for MA to implement something though; for instance last time I tried decoys they still didn't give any skills.)

People today who actually can get that kind of cash out of the game probably are lucky. With the current loots, each day of active playing costs me 200 ped in losses (50% returns without globalling). My dilemma is, the only thing I'd need a better computer for is PE, and as long as I play actively, I can't afford one. (Getting a job? Sure, I've tried for 6 years by now...)
And, ingame, since 10k PED seems to be the going price for wormhole chip and MA doesn't seem to want to drop them, I don't have problem spending money if I would get some.

Not everyone is able, the point of this post is not to point out you need a new grafics card, but to improve the end users performance on a machine they may already have...

Every now and again while browsing the forum to help improve the advice i give or to give advice i come across a comment like this, the way i see it, why would i upgrade my pc when i know i can get this game to run on this one? and on top of that, why would i upgrade for just one game on my pc that can be tweaked down a lil? i just do not see the point in that.....

I must say i do agree with your second comment, i do not know the guy, but he seems cool to me, and really, his life must be awsome being his job is owning a space station on a computer game

Hey Meg,

Of course you are probably totally right, but I comment on what I see. and what I saw was a poser with a ridiculous hair due :D
And honestly, me and persons with a big ego....well, it just doesn't go well together ;) (maybe it's just my ego, lol)
