Health Points, how does it work ?

The other day I was on 101/101

I got one of them

' You have gained a Health Point' messages

now its 85/103

I'm a bit confused about it all

So which is the HP , I thought it was 85 points out of a max 103, but that can't be as the interval between me looking wasn't long enough to jump 100 points between 101 and 103

Eh?
85/103 means you have a max of 103 but you are not at full health atm.
Wait a few mins and it should read 103/103 - if not something is wrong...
