Help problem installing Entropia!!

:mad:I got alot of problems, when i start installing Entropia it works fine until it gets to the point where it starts to download the Microsoft Visual C++, it pops up an Error 1935, (im bad in translating so i write this in swedish and someone can translate)
Error 1935. Ett fel uppstod när paketet
Microsoft.VC80.ATL.type="win32".version="8.0.50727.762".publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b".processorArchitecture="x86" skulle installeras. Paketet har inte ett starkt namn eller så är det inte signerat med minsta nyckellängd.
If i press "OK"
after a while this pops up:
C:\Program Files\MindArk\Entropia Universe\ClientLoader.exe
Programmet kunde inte starta eftersom programmets sida-vid-sidakonfiguration är felaktig. Kontrollera händelseloggen för ytterligare information.

Please Help, ive tryed to search the forum with no results, or answers!

ok i got this translation in english, Its not full translation but close as..


Error 1935. One fault arose when packet

This will help you get an answer. TBH i aint got a clue, just thought id translate for you :silly2:

Well, it seems that you have problems with Visual C++ 2005.
Install that package and you will fix it.
You can find the installer in your Entropia Universe folder.

Updates doesn't work either.

I'm having same issue I think...

I downloaded the package... but when I try to install vcredist_x64.exe from Microsoft's website, the installer for that package stalls and gives me:

Error 1935. An error occurred during the installation of assembly... and some other gobbly good about version and public key token..
 
This is the side by side-error situation. Don't worry, just do this
 
That does not work!

That does not work because the error 1935 comes up in the c++ redistributable installer, not in the main EU installer... so the solution to side by side error is to install something we can't install!... or actually it installs, but not properly for some reason.

Ugh. Technology is supposed to make things so much easier they say...

On top of that, I can't send in an official support ticket since the blasted entropiauniverse website is down. I did send a pm to Marco though... but doubt it helps?

I've been googling all night looking for ways to work around it. Apparently other games installers had similar issues... but they could work around it quicker than I am with this EU thing because they didn't have 4 gigs of data to unpack every time they uninstalled... and tried a fresh install only to find it did not fix the problem... great fun... still trying to find a solution.

First uninstall any installed VC 2005 redistributable packages from the system. Then run the VU10 installer again, it will install it correctly (you won't have to do the full install all over again).
 
I see earlier in the thread that someone is trying to install the x64 version of C++. If all of you are, that may well be your problem, since you need the x86 version.

I'll try a manual install of .net and see if this helps... I'm not sure if it will or not, but it sure can't hurt.

I'll keep trying stuff... This is almost as much pure idiot programming as it was when I installed ATI all-in-wonder 9000 pro in my old computer and landed straight in the middle of dll hell.

So... what does the log tell me...

DepCheck indicates Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0SP1 (x64) (CBS) is not installed.

OK... so I try to go and find 2.0 SP1 it's looking for and find NetFx20SP1_X86.exe

Guess what happens...

I'm going to look for a .net installer that runs on x64... maybe there is one out there.

well... another night has been ruined in this fantastic adventure of trying to install EU. Yippiee.... and still no answers...

after all of this I still get the side-by-side configuration is incorrect message.

AND...

The best part is the entropiauniverse.com website is down so we can't even send in support tickets for issues like this at the moment...

when i installed EU it was instaleld before the setup, cuz i nneded it, otherwise u might have to check EF search for, side by side configuration, u cant miss....
 
han u very much guys, removing all the visuals c++ from remove programs and ten just pressing install EU did it for me.I saw the log in screen, now waiting waiting waiting waiting

Not sure if anyone can help. I am getting the same error when trying to install the Visual C++ Redistributable Package. I have followed all of the instructions on this site, I have downloaded the latest version from the links given. Same error every time. I am using a brand new laptop with a new and fully updated Vista install. I would really like to try the Entropia Universe, but I am stuck trying to get it installed.

You need to install the proper visual C++ redistributable package on a fully updated windows. So like has been posted before, do this (and for vista/win7 use windows update in the configuration-screen obviously)

Anyway, Mindark also publishes the solution now, and if you don't want to follow those, do this:

1) Go to Microsoft update. Install everything, meaning, all essential and optional updates. If it wants to reboot, let it reboot.
2) Repeat 1 untill all updates are installed
3) Go to Visual C++ runtime update
4) download and install the vcredist_x86.exe on that page
5) Done
 
In some countries, there is a warning message written on the cigarette boxes.
Something related about issues raised by smoking: illness, addiction, sexual troubles, etc...


Maybe the C++ error is to be considered as a warning message?

Well as I said, I have followed all of these instructions, more than once. It still does not work for me.

I had this too. After installing BOTH C++ redist packages (32 & 64bit) on Win 7 64 Bit, Entropia failed again, but started to install a C++ package...whatever the f*ck was going on...I can play PE now o _O
 
Go to your control panel
Uninstall ALL C++ references.
Download the C++ package mentioned above (x86 version)
reboot
install C++ package downloaded
Start game.

I'm a programmer myself which doesn't mean anything in particular.
But all these C++ errors from PE are caused by the fact that MA did not release PE with statically linked CRT libraries.
The PE executable file would have been with only 100kB bigger, but there would be no side-by-side errors. I know that Microsoft recommends the usage of redistributable CRT libraries, but the truth is MA are simply retarded. They simply did not test enough the current build of PE otherwise they would have found out that using shared CRT libraries is not quite kosher. PE can be crashed simply because another application installed on the user computer is using the same shared CRT library. Theoretically it should not happen, practically it happens because Microsoft have their own share of stupid monkeys. And the awesome part is that when this conflict happens, the coder have almost no way to debug it. Unless he is able to go through multiple dlls to identify the real cause. I could go in more details, but there is no point.
To be honest, I was smiling when I saw this proof of incompetence and I was thinking that they already resolved it. But it seems is not. You can install many CRT versions and more crap, the game will not be stable until the CRT libraries are not in the exe file. Take my free advice and I'm would gladly apologize if somebody/MA can prove that I'm wrong. If MA programmers are not aware of this reality, I have no words to express my feelings.

@Wody: Gratz to you for recommending the ATL improved version of CRT.

Edit: I'm sorry for the offensive language, but I'm not quite sober. :)

Did that, more than once, no luck. I have given up. Might try again some time in the future when there is a new version.
 
No need to download C++ packages, just uninstall the ones you have via control panel then run entropia setup again, it won't perform full install, it will just c++ packages it needs.
