How active is the player base?

This forum (luckely) does not represent the bulk of the playerbase, half my friendslist (dailly 10 to 20 people active on it and i aint the social type) wil avoid this specific forum like the plague.

To the OP , dont take the negative whiners to serius (research their older post on forum, it wil show a lot or high stake gamblers who believe its a casino play , many have bin taking high risk with no skill or have high skill and expect a godmode due to it.)

Just try the game , depo very little and learn how it goes, then decide if it youre game.

But really dont go on advise of most of the crying croud here.

This forum has a few really twisted spoiled brads without a clue spamming it for many years becausse they dont get their excact way.

This ^ is very true.

Off topic: What I don't understand at all, Is why, if you play the game, do you talk so much shit about it and if you don't play why are you still on this forum bad mouthing it?? Are people really void of excitement in life that they must troll here? If you play and hate the game, go the fuck away. Simplez.

that also is very true :D

I would say 2200 is the best estimate we have.

well according to entropialife my hunting rank is 680 of 3 663. So I can for sure say that your estimate of 2200 is too low.

Most of good players which have invested here some money and yerars of their life already left or are in proces of seling out and leaving. Ma financial statements are worse and worse each new period they are published.

we are entering a golden age for mid-level players

Where do you think all those auction fees go?

Into MA pocket ofc ( Marco stated at some point thet it goes into loot pool - but then MA admited there is no pool ). Case is that one crazy gambler with one beer to much or just good mood can sunk more into EU economy than monthly auction fees.

We can't handle the truth :)

The question about EU's userbase is Schrödinger's box. While it's kept closed, nobody knows that the cat is dead.

100% agree with that. We all agree here that simple counter of logged players is not some programming masterpiece. Even simple online indie games have such. So if we don;t have it here it is for one reason - MA don't want world to know that number. IF MA don;t want world to know that number it is again for simple reason - there is nothing to be proud of in that number or even worse...that number is shame

Rough calculations around $1000 per day from auction fees. That would be one crazy gambler to lose that much.

No "personal" loot pool, i.e. the system doesn't track what it "owes" you. MA never stated there is no lootpool at all and, actually, I can't imagine how the game could work without one (or many, as I see it as a big pool for every profession and a subpool for every mob/bp/etc). Auction fees go to the pool of course, because the pool itself is already in "MA's pocket", since every deposited $ is already their.

there is nothing to be proud of in that number or even worse...that number is shame

That's not what I really meant :). Even if there indeed were only 2000 players (although I agree with Vlooe on "Every "calculation" that shows a lower amount per month than entropialife is wrong") it's not bad for a game of this kind, nothing shameful, just as 7 players isn't a shameful number for a poker game. But the number itself may look not good for those who used to 7-digits numbers. What I mean is that some boxes better to leave unopened. Untimely "truth" can kill even successful business.

Disagree. It's extremely shameful. 2000 players wouldn't be shameful if we were back in 2005 and it was just one continent (Eudoria). Calypso has roughly doubled in size with the addition of Amethera and all the new islands, and multiple new planets have been added. The playerbase? It shrunk. I'm sorry but anyone who doesn't think that's shameful is in denial. Unless you're telling me that our entire virtual universe is only 286 times bigger than a poker table. If that's the case, we're doing just fine.

Pure speculation on this forum al so called 'research"on this forum has alway's bin pure speculations and no one showed anything that prooves there so little players.

Even on this quite shitty forum a post about noob weapons got 680 vieuws in a few hourse of european daytime.

Happy birthsday Skunk! May you have a very good one because you need it and while you are having birthsday why not take a very good long vacation too. Goddbye!

The size of universe doesn't have anything with the size of playerbase. Expansion of the universe was probably one of most harmful decisions, ideally of course there should still be only Eudoria. Amethera was made to sell LAs and get MA money. Space was made to sell planets and get MA money. Both couldn't magically increase the number of players nor it was expected. I wasn't around in 2005, but compared to 2006 I'd say we have the same userbase. It may feel shrunk because it's heavily spread, and because many people we once knew aren't around anymore.

Yes, it's just a huge poker table. The only problem with it, it's made too huge, so the players who sit at it barely see each other.

Different people have different theories... However, I suspect auction fees go half to MA and half to PP as was shown in the now defunct affiliate program site. As for the loot pool, it exists as indicated in the dev notes, but it doesn't track anything... I think it works more or less exactly as the same as a progressive slot machine... People sit there in the circle of slot machines feeding the progressive jackpot enough enough quarters that the machine will eventually hand out all of them to the 'winner.' The cash made by the casino's buffet (auction fees in eu) and parking fees (estate sales in eu) DO NOT feed the pool of cash being paid out in winnings on the slots (not directly at least even does pay Kim's monthly pedcard balance)... but all of that doesn't negate the facts that the house always wins.

but all of that doesn't negate the facts that the house always wins.

Sounds like you like to gamble in the game, but if you don't view the game as a casino then you can beat "the house". The technique is called Markup :)

It's just a multi-table poker tournament =)

Too bad that the house seems began to take MU into account while calculating the loot :)

On that other RCE game abbreviated with the phrase SL, there used to be extensive economic data available. This data was used by some wizzkids to manipulate the currency market (no fixed rate to US$) and earn cash at the expense of players.

Just to indicate that not showing data does not automatically constitute ill will towards the players, nor is any other conclusion by definition true. All these conclusions are opinions, no more, no less.

Its interesting how some players continue to dismiss this research when they fail to conduct a more accurate research. Saying things like:

"I would guess the active player base is . . ."
"I would estimate the active player base is . . ."
"I think the active player base is . . . "
"based on my experience I'd say the active player base is . . ."

Is no way of proving your point. Until a better research is conducted or MA decides to reveal its "Secrete corporate figures" I would say 2200 is the best estimate we have.

How can you call that a research???

Any primary kid with good grip of maths and logic will tell that your attempt have no value due to your use of facts that do not reflect at all active base in this game.

Also if you would for a moment take your head out of your arse, you would noticed that many people pointed higher numbers that are confirmed, e.g. rank on tracker.

BTW, is this you who continues to edit wikipedia entry about player base to 2200 players, after it has been removed few times already?
Why you do that? boosting ego or...?
