Many complain of putting lots in and getting nothing out. Pure luck, I spent loads the same as someone who was globalling like crazy, I hunted the same mobs, mined in the same way but he ended up far better off :eek:

What is happening here :confused: Is it like a destiny your individual avatar is given when you join or what? Cos I know of noobs globalling in their first WEEK! i've played almost a year and a half and my only 2 globals were in a team. Shit isn't it.

Others deposit little and get very lucky (Super ATH)

It is very upsetting when this happens for me because I am addicted to EU and I would like atleast something back from it :(

How is your EU situation?
 
I have played since August 2005, my first global was 1/1-09 :)

I made my first, and only, deposit (about 100PED) during the end of January 2009...

A little more than 1 week later I got my first HoF, which was a bit more than 6kPED... So it is going well IMO :D lol

3.5 Years, two tiny solo HoFs (237PED in early 2006, 311PED in early 2008). Most globals around (the lower end) 50-80PED. And finally the day I got a 'silent uber' of ATAU's, the market crashed on 'em making them practically worthless.

Don't care what anyone says - I still firmly believe that MA applies some sort of luck modifier on avatar creation dependant on the games current win/lose balance or something.

But despite all that, I'm happy enough in game. Just deposit what I can afford to lose, and just play to be entertained and make friends. If I get a big loot whilst doing it - thats a bonus :)
 
I have never had much "luck" in games of chance or even gambling. My Grandfather had "The Luck O' The Irish" and if he played this game, he would global everyday.

I global more often in teams. I've had 1 hof over 2k, and maybe 10 solos in over a year. I am fine with that because I don't expect much, but when I look up some of the avatars on Entropia tracker or even just watch the chat window, I can see some people are indeed more "lucky" than others.

I have gone times with bigger deposits and times with fewer and smaller ones, but never noticed any correlation.
 
I am in a similar boat with you Arokh. I deposit my spare change for that nights/weeks entertainment. I do a lot of socializing in between.

I do believe that a certain allotment of luck is associated with an avatar when it is created. I get a lot of flack from that and am often called a whiner, but it is what I have noticed. I depot, albeit very little, but by my naysayers view, I should be globaling at least right after I depot. But, no. I have depot several times and lost it all, unless you consider skills gained winning.

I also hear arguments stating that special luckiness would not be beneficial to MA. I beg to differ. Those "lucky" avas are the poster children that attract people and keep those in game hoping, imho.

But, all in all, I am not a lucky person. Good things just never fall in my lap. So I get really irritated with EU from time to time, so I take a break and come back ready for more in a few days. But, I will say that, I don't play very seriously and wisely. I know that I could make more of my time in EU, but I am a busy person with two full-time jobs and volunteer work, and I just don't have time to sweat for the few hours I get to play a night.

EU is, for the most part, what I make of it. But, it would be nice to get something over 5ped more than just every few months. It is not like I have intentions to cash out, I just want to play more. (Hint Hint MA) ;)

its like in poker, one guy may seem to get all the hands in one game but then in the next game hell get nothing.

the only problem this is still the first game.
 
I dont realy feel that lucky, but when I read about people like Nighthawk who didnt get a global in about 4 years then I might think that I am lucky anyway.

I get my daily 1-5 globals, sometimes more, all depending on what I am hunting and what equipment I am using and also how much time I spend hunting.

A normal hunt I bring about 800ped ammo, that usualy give me 3 globals on average (mainly high regen Mobs with over 1k HP)

My personal best was 6 globals and 3 small HOFs in one day, that day i lost around 1kped.

The people that you are talking about that profit, either have Uber skills/gear, or are grinding endlesly on some booring mob.
I tried the grinding once, pixi+6b, P5+105, limited fap, and hunting allo. I made an average profit of 10ped per 1500ped ammo spend, but this was probably my most booring 3 weeks in EU.

I do like most people, I depo what I want feel like, and have a great time blasting it all away.
 
Been playing for +3 years and I lost all the time no matter what I did. Then I chiped out every skill I had cashed out stoped playing for 3 month. Now I started playing again and in 4 month I have only made 1 deposit. Don't know if I'm just lucky now or if I'm playing more smart and adjusting the game better? But for first time I'm in top 100 last 30 days on Entropia tracker :)

But imo I think loot is abit avatar based. So now I'm trying to prove me wrong :D
 
I have depoed ~5000$ (50k peds) and spent most of it (80k skills)... biggest loot so far is 451ped tt.

can say i have lost about 3k$ ( my ava is worth about 2-2.2k$)

this made me feel bad :(

i depo a lot but i still have some peds and gear worth something and some skills :D

i have the same problem.. i never get any good played like 6 years . i have quit and start all over becuse of this problem, becuse its makes me angry.. my best is 3500 in mining on cnd and biggest hunting 1200 in team. and thats over 6 years. i dunno how much i have deposit. i am to afraid to see it.
well anyway not only u have it like that.. gl to u and gl to me lol
 
I am lucky enough thst I only have to deposit 100-300 dollars per month to play a decent amount of time at a decent level.

I am lucky enough that I've had 4 hofs in 4 year, two of which has been ubers, though no higher than 2k.

I am lucky enough that I've never had a hunting hof and the best item ever looted was a 65.60 ped ESI.

roughly 1500 hours playtime with one 9998ped hof

I consider myself a very lucky one...irl and ingame.:)
Managed to survive during the (almost) 2 years I been playing.:D
My real ''loot'' its the wonderfull people I meet during this time.:yay:
About the other ''loot''...well I saw good days...and bad ones too.:D

The fun, the laughs and the new experiences its something that you cant TT...its just priceless.;)

am i one of them ? no.

never had a 1k + hof in 3,5 years, and MA dont liek my pedcard full

bigest loot for me is a pvp kill :S

good example of a lucky avatar would be fat fock frank from AD


if your reading this MA please turn the loot knob on my avatar a bit

I have been playing for about 1 year, deposit a few thousand peds, and I've had a bit more than 100 globals (not sure of the exact number)

I have 0.00 ped on my card and I have sold all my gear, so I think I qualify as one of the unlucky ones ^^
 
2 years I think
-no depo at all
-was trading/sweating to get initial funds
-than hunted with loss of all peds
-again traded/sweated to get funds (about 300-500peds)
-hunted a bit with loss again (-1k PEDs cca at that time)
-mined enmater (+/- 0)
-mined ore,was +/-0 AND than hited 3*HOF (two about 1.6k with mu, one 400+peds)
------------------------------------------------------
-hunted again: spend at least 2k from that HOFs on ammo
-traded to get cca 1.8kprofit

Sumary:
hunting ,,loss,, of about 3k peds (not including skill gains)
mining profit about 4kpeds

Just unlocked coolness, I had about 5*500/700 hunting hofs, nothing bigger.

what I think(just my miserable and humble opinion) is: you depo-MA takes much or all of it what ever you do in a small time, BUT they may always give you smt back being the most of it or bigger. In how much time they would gice you back, well, thats their decision. Or they would have decided to give you your money back in crafting or mining or hunting. I suggest you try all professions before you say you are unlucky. Being "dynamic" like MA is the key. Surprise them!
 
Hrm, do kinda like eddrics theory about loot returned. I guess we all get the same % of PED back, but just in different ways. For some the average loot is just better but less globals, others have it really bad and then get a lot all at once. MA take your decay, whatever else you spend should be recycled back in some way, shape or form. :dunno:

I forgot to mention mining hehe. Unlocked both CGA and Extraction, with my largest deposit found so far being a single X... or maybe XI. One of the two. The only 'global' being a single robot ship of 50PED residue. (Really wish that was a joke) :)

As for crafting... :laugh: I've heard too many stories of people losing thousands of PED in an hour or two. I'll never succumb to the evils of crafting! Never! Spending eternity skilling in Basic Filter hell doesn't seem too appealing either...

But in all seriousness, overall my average loot isn't that bad. It's mediocre, sometimes win a little, lose a little, others break even. I may not get the swirlies much, but s'long it works out roughly even in the long run it ain't so bad. Guess thats what counds in the end more than the odd global or HoF.
 
I have crafted and mined, but pretty much the same results. However, I can say that in mining, I do better with enmats than ore. I know that if I go out with enmats, i will find and usually break even. With ore, it is almost certain i will loose it all. I like crafting, but I am just not willing to risk what little I have in game. I like the act of crafting (that ding is just so gratifying to me :ahh: ), and it allows me to talk as much as I want to :D Much to the dismay of some of my friends ;)

So, i feel I am lucky in some aspects, and not in others. Just wish my panache for making friends and chatting could get me some swirlies too :laugh:

Depends on how you play.
I can have horrible luck and still get plenty of globals, if I hunt daspletor. I can have great loot but have no globals, if I'm hunting snables.

However I do believe avatars go through lucky and unlucky periods. There was a time a few months back when I was profiting on every hunt, no matter what I hunted (I was using very economic gear, but regardless it is not common to profit every hunt). Ever since 3x skilling period however, my profit hunts are few and far between. I have had an average TT return of roughly 60% (from around the beginning of 3x to today), while my soc mate is making a killing on drones.
We all have our loot cycles.
 
My ava was created on 26-07-2005.

I've deposited ~11,000 USD.

Never withdrew.

My value (skills + items) is ~1,000 USD.

I've had a bunch of 1k+ loots, a 4k and a 10k on crafting and a 11k on hunting.

Is that what you want?
 
How lucky am, I?

I would say "not very"...

But I had 8.4k during the robot invasion, so I guess that is lucky, and have had 1.5k making settler shins, and several hofs.

I make my own luck. 3 clicks on a texture, no texture made, Poor luck. My fault. Try 1k clicks, then perhaps I get some luck.

At times My luck goes sour, so I stop what is not working, and go do something else (perhaps the washing up!) and try again later....
