So yes I did not want to have to make this type of thread because it is something I have been getting more saddened by as the last weeks went by.

But basically I am getting super sad because I have put all the effort into creating a site for the entire community and I am just getting the feeling that no one cares about it.

I made this museum because I thought it would be nice to have a place for everyone to take a trip down memory lane - I can not continue to do this alone and I do not want to shut the museum down after pumping a lot of my time and money into it.

Yes the museum is contribution based - I am burnt out having to be the only person submitting images/stories/videos/magazines/guides and doing all the other pages alone.

I am at a crossroads right now and I have now built yet another attraction that I hope will kick start more contributions but I still have this feeling in the back of my mind that people still will not bother contributing even with this new attraction I have spent the last week building.

I did not choose to do this site for myself this is a museum and that is exactly what it is about "preserving entropia universe history"

All I am saying is I am saddened and upset that this site has not had more traction. I have many ideas going forward but unless the community starts to help grow the museum because afterall this is a community driven project and I can not do it all alone - I need your help.

You do not need to go crazy but even if you just submit 1 image/story/video a week - I will be happy. But as it stands right now I have only had a small handful of users who submitted content to the museum the rest has all been submitted by me!

I am trying so hard to get the community to help kickstart this project but I just keep hitting a brickwall.

I am kindly asking you all if you do care about preserving entropia universe history in the museum then that is fine but for me and probably many others who love this game even in it's bad times.

“If you’re not sure what to submit, even something small like an old screenshot, story, or memory is perfect. Doesn’t have to be anything big.”

I did not post the site link because this was not needed - but it is in my signature.

Thanks for listening.

We have a museum

No one really cares that much about the history.

It’s fun to see photos from the past every now and again, but that’s about it.

I am just getting the feeling that no one cares about it.
If people aren't contributing, they don't care or you didn't advertise it properly or it's simply they don't feel it's worth the effort to contribute (people can generally be lazy, or value their time more). Also, someone like me I lost all my old PE, before CE2 footage in an old HDD that died was real shame too. A lot of people may not even have old footage to post.

Your happiness being contingent on getting validation isn't good for your mental health. Nobody is gonna care as much as you for this thing. Do the museum for yourself and for the few who do care otherwise you gotta make choice if it's worth continuing or not for YOU.

Well yeah but I do not like to spam in-game or on discord. So there is that as well.

I am not the type of guy that does that type of thing. I know people do not care generally but I do not want to stop this project - I put to much time and money into it so far. So I will just let it be and do bits now and again on it - if people start contributing then they will.

I just wanted to let you all know that I am a human and it is a lot of work to handle on my own. If the few that do care want to help then I will be happy with that.

For all those that do not care then I am not holding a grudge with any of you.

Peace.

My old PE stuff is far gone but like Jennifer said it is nice to go back through old photos and reminisce. I've admittedly done that a few times, so while I can't contribute I do appreciate your effort and what you created. If you are looking for contributors, if the mountain won't go to you, sometimes you need to go to the mountain. IE: seek out old players specifically and reach out to see if they would zip up some screenshots and sending into a dropbox or something

It's an extremely slow time on this game too at least for old vets. Idk about new players but they won't have anything to write or post. You gotta figure too that there's sites like entropiacentral and entropianexus that you can't even play the game without going to and they get like 50 unique visitors per month (exaggerating but still its not +200k). So for a super niche game, with barely a handful of active players, where 90% of them don't even know the forum or discord exists, if you can get double digit unique visitors already you're doing big things.

Maybe try skeptic or forgo and any1 else that been around. I bet forgo got a ton of pictures of magazines and stuff. Tell him you'll let him post 1 picture of his cybertruck for every 100 EU pictures and you'll have record amounts of content in no time.

Thanks for the input and kind words.

Well I have tried reaching out to some but mostly dead ends or no responses.

I made it so users could submit the content themselves for a reason. I do not have all the time to submit all the content myself lol that is the issue - there is only 24 hours in a day and if even 5 people sent me zip files with 1K images in each then you can imagine how long that would take me alone to submit them?

So you must understand that I am only human and there is only 24 hours in a day lol 8-9 hours is my rest time.

I hope you understand :)

Last thing I will say is of course I have played this game for 23 years on and off - so I know the playerbase is very small and niche - I expected it to be like this but I did also expect some players would actually love the museum and would jump at the idea to help but I was probably wrong :p

If I had anything, I would happily send it over.

I started in 2010, but it was then, and still is, a game to pick up and play. I never thought to take screenshots, I don't explore the universe for sights and sounds.

I don't have a sense of nostalgia for PE over EU, in this player's opinion the game has always been mediocre to terrible. What brought me online in the very first place was "a free MMO, neat!"

I say all this not to discourage you, but perhaps share a perspective you didn't consider much? Maybe some players (or many, or most) simply never chronicled anything of museum quality...

Your museum is a niche of a niche, I wish you the best of luck with it!

Cool idea for sure! 🙂

People just have limited time to play not to mention participate on large scale projects.

Even i find it difficult to balance my hunting time, update hunting, bug report logs, create support cases or participate both here and discord actively.

Need to play too! 😁

Nostalgia is fun, every once in awhile, but that said I don't even go to museums in real life.

I don't keep screenshots or videos of game play, so I wouldn't have anything to contribute if I wanted to.

I think it's awesome the effort your putting into this, I really do. but it's so niche I don't think you can realistically expect contributions regularly, every once in awhile someone will stumble onto an old hard drive with pics or something and maybe if they are aware of your site will upload them. But I can't think it would be a daily thing.

Even real world museums go many years at a time before getting new additions. Because the old stuff is rare, and hard to find.

Our electronic data is even more rare to keep for long periods, add that with the fact the oldest players get replaced with new players, and the quantity of museum level archives....becomes rare.

But then that rarity is the only reason the nostalgia effect even draws interest to begin with.

I don't know if any of my thoughts even help here..other that to explain the lack of participation from the perspective of one that has been around a long time...and has nothing to show for it. (In this context)

No you are correct - I have had the exact same thoughts and I also do not visit real museums in real life either - I did when I was much younger but not since lol.

Thanks for your kind words.

(I mean let's face facts as well - the main issue with museums and history in general is it makes you stop and think how fast time actually goes by and before you know it is over)

So yeah it is a kinda morbid thing because it makes you have those thoughts like shit this amount of time has passed and it only felt like it was yesterday. But on the other perspective it is still nice to record and preserve history for the next generations and that is why museums exist even if most people hardly visit them haha.

Maybe partner up with a site like PCF, Nexus or Central. Crosslink the shit out of it so it never goes down. There you would have the "foot traffic" that might be needed both for ppl to take a stroll and for ppl wanting to contribute.
