Fun times.

Back in the day I'd say Project Entropia was more about fun. Not everything was just about counting every pec.

Hey,

I missed PE, I came at the dawn of CE.
Can i ask what made it so fun? And more so what made it more fun than what we have today? We have so much content, so much to do, so many good people, way better media and a lot of exciting stuff on its way. Id love to understand what made the old game so amazing and fun?

Is there something MA could do? Or is it a bygone era combined with nostalgia that made it feel like it was so fun combined with there being far less choice back then?

Fun times indeed. Remember when you could scale buildings and monuments just by sitting down against them, standing and then sitting down again?

Im not saying MA are not trying to create content or that the game itself had many more and better aspects in the past. Mostly people werent so serious about everything as they are today - more that then the gameplay itself.

But few examples of some fun that did change:

World of Firepower - Seems like it may start a comeback in some form but not sure it will be the same as countries competing.

Beauty Contests - Not very relevant now since now everyone mostly wears buffed clothes or armor. It used to raise more interest and was a regular event.

Twin Octagon, regular PVP which had almost daily fighting (ragdoll flying).

Beacons - were I think much better and exciting than what they became now.

(Not related to fun: Game design was also more sci-fi alien type, sky was captivating, music fit the scifi theme - ahead of its time imho).

But ofcourse lots of other good stuff was added since then but I just feel like people had overall more fun. (Maybe due to different generation).

I may have a subjective view. Just my own experience. 🙂

I keep saying this... nothing can give us back the feeling we had about the game back then, nothing can make us feel like we did because everything contributed to that feeling, the state of the entire gaming industry, the technology, everything.

All the activities you listed are still available and if people are no longer doing them at that level, it's people that changed. Newer generations take their dopamine from something else. It's al about what dopamine source we have available. You could say back then you had to farm your dopamine, nowadays it's more served, with more game knowledge shared and more information available, people want more of that eff and pec counting than doing silly stuff that we used t find super fun back then.

People are still doing various similar activities and people are participating, but it's just different ppls.

I used to enjoy this kind of stuff a lot many years back, today I don't find it fun anymore, but pretty sure other ppl do, just a lot fewer than in the past:

It hadn't attracted all the wrong people yet. But the money aspect made it quite inevitable.
 
Remember when every miner carried furniture to get to out of reach claims? xD
