I was the RTS game Universe at War: Earth Assault heard a very familiar sound. I caught it a few times and then it hit me, thats from EU.

In the game there are 3 races, one of which is called the Hierarchy. The Hierarchy has a heavy infantry unit called a Brute. It's a wearwolf like creature that just destroys everything in its path. What's really interesting about this creature is that it uses the exact "cry" sound effect as that of EUs Atrox. Now I can confirm that two of the sounds are from the atrox and the thrid may be from the atrox sounds too, but i cant quite pin it down an confirm that.

Anyways, just wanted to share that with you all. I thought it was interesting.

well, sometimes textures and charactor models are purchased to make a game rather than developed in house, perhaps that same can be said about sound effects.

That is interesting, I wonder if it is the same sound. I hear or see things daily that remind me of EU.

One night while watching the movie Lost in Space with Heather Graham there is a scene where she says something like "so I should just pack up and fly with you through space" and got all excited and explained to the fiancee *(while she looked at me crazy) that it was a part of a song in EU. Can't remember what the words are because I haven't heard the song in awhile. Shame to I like that one, anyway I can access or find it?

I have heard sounds in EU that are from starcraft or maybe EU came first..but stock sounds used in many games are passed around. Some are the same only played backwards to aid diverity in use. Even windows 2k has sounds that are in EU and starcraft.

I played this game and music is awesome (Masari music is awesome)

and about "cry" atrox sound...it is used in many movies :)

There's a Manga called Claymore (one of my favorite btw), its about girls that are half human half monster, these girls are strong and very fast, when they evade an attack (by jumping or running quickly, no by standing still and not getting hit ;)) they make a sound, its the exact same sound of TP chip (the running part of teleporting)

You do know that the atrox sound is taken from one of the creatures in the origional Doom PC game... right?

It might be the Pink Demon if I remember correctly.

Actually the sound designer traveled back in time to record a real atrox for authenticity :)

Game developers, movie makers, etc buy sound "packages" and then alter some sounds in this package to put to use in their product. It was posted on EP (yes, EP) a looong time ago about other ingame sounds being heard in movies, adverts, and other things. If you pay close enough attention you can tell that some mobs in EU use the same sound, just modified slightly.

I've heard the Atrox rawl in a movie once too lol
a hollywood produced one! :O

I would have thought putting a link to another game in an EF thread would break a rule somewhere.
