I can't seem to find much information about this game, Planet Calypso. Is it free to play? Is it live for anyone to play? Is it open to play for the US? Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

It is free download and play, there is an age restriction 13+? (correct me if I'm wrong anyone), you CAN play from the US.

You never to subscribe to play. You don't have to buy the software either. With that said, at the moment all you can do for free is walk around, get the teleporters to allow you to fast travel, and let mobs hit you to work on your evade skill. Eventually they are going to reimblement "fruit" and "dung" which any player can pick up if they walk (not run) around and find it lying on the ground. It's also likely that they are going to reintroduce "sweating" too, which doesn't cost anything, and allows players to earn ped, by selling "sweat" to players to make "Mind Essence."

But right now there are no systems in place to help newcomers get peds aside from depositing real money.

Not necessarily, no need to rush into depositing at first, get to know the game, there are guides (other players) in game that will answer your questions for you and help with the basic mechanics of the game, it is up to you whether you wish to deposit to speed up your progression.

Look at it as any other MMO where you pay a subscription. If you deposit say $10 a month you'll be able to buy a decent weapon and armor and start hunting or mining. Eventually you'll (hopefully) get enough loot to keep you going without paying each month. But it's fully up to you what you want to pay or not. I deposited at the beginning and bought some simple stuff. Then I explored the world and found all the TP locations. I sold the loot I got and kept me going for quite a while without any further deposits. Then I put some more money in and could advance a bit further and so on. The nice is that you decide when you want to deposit. You're not tied to a monthly subscription.

So basically, you must pay to advance at all in this particular game?

if u want to advance right now, yes.. if u can wait, explore and just chill around, no. As VU 10 is a hole new system, not all ingame systems are online yet, but will hopefully be soon. So just explore and have fun, and when they add fruit, stones, dung and sweat (if they do), u can strart advancing.

in 2 weeks, without depositing, i managed to gain 2 guns, full mining both enmater and ore gear, and a full set of armor, a vivo t1 (healing tool) as well as plenty of mob kills.

about 200ped total worth of items and loot

payed for it by sweating for the most part.

this game is designed to cost as much as u want it to cost, if u dicide to go without depositing u even make money (make skills then sell and through trade).
u can even go and put up to 100s thousends of dollars in it.
i for one simply place a average per month and dont exeed it.
u can withdraw your funds at any time u want.

u can find all levels of play in it but none of ehm are easy, sometimes frustrating sometimes fun, a game for ppl taking their skills beond.

Just download try and see, join a faction and have fun exploring.

Its free, but at the moment you cannot do anything but dying to earn at least some skills.

For the first time you must go to the first step wich is to find an good mentor who can teach you some about the game,in the second step you must read most of the guides in here and I garanteed that you can learn a lot of about game, meanwile you can depo and keep your ped away from spending on wrong stuff. For knowing the game and the mechanism you should spend like six month in game, after that you can say that you`re ready to play like any other player, but with less lose. Its up to you and how much patience you have.If you`re impatient you can broke your neck easy and after that you will blame MA for yours acts, but the real fault is yours. Now we all are new in game because of the new vu 10 and you have a good start.

And how much time did you spend online during that two weeks...?

It doesnt matter if u playing for fun.

Two remarks:
yes, it does matter when you play for fun, because if you want to achieve something in real life, you may want to spend time doing basic things like eating, getting sufficient sleep, go to school/work (or find a job), hang out with mates etc.

Second remark: Yes, I too spent my first three weeks playing for free... but seriously.... full time sweating...? You call that fun? Most fun in sweating is the anticipation that at some time you will get beyond it (and back then, sweat went for .8, so the anticipation was higher than it is at .5)

It's a cheap or as expensive as you want it to be.:wise:

Technically, yes... free to play. Realistically, no. To advance or do much, you will need to deposit some funds unless you wish to endlessly do a very monotonous task for quite menial returns. Time spent "sweating" in game will not yield the cash that flipping burgers at McDonalds could for the same amount of time.

Sure. However, sweating gets you free evade skills plus a few other ones (courage, athletics for example) and also some mindforce skills - mainly concentration - that would otherwise cost money (for the ME) to get.

Personally, I think that the best free-money activity to do with half an eye while doing something else was probably fruit etc. gathering, not sweating. I've often walked most of the way down TI beach without seeing any mobs (other than rippers) or people at all.

Is this game free?

Only as free as your money is. hope that helps ;)

way too much time, probably 5-6 hours a day.

MA must have made it damn site easier to sweat since I started then. I was doing 8-9 hours days in my first week and at 1.4 I managed to get 55ped :scratch2:

btw I was on holiday.

well... 300-600 bottles an hour, i know that's a big range but it did fluctuate a lot depending on how many people and a seemingly random factor.

so thats 3k/day on 5 hours

and i didn't sell the sweat for under 4.5-5ped/k so generously speaking 15ped/day = 105ped/week...

of course you cant just sweat the whole time i'd shoot myself first.

I think that saying that 10% of non depositors progress and the rest need to deposit at some point is a way of putting it that isn't far from true.

We all know people who have never deposited and have done well, either by time skill or pure luck....but most people choose to ease their path with some cash.

The 10% is out of the air, it could be 5% ...a low % though.

I'm wondering how hard sweating is going to be, or how it will be changed when it returns....seems too good an oppotunity to nerf it doesn't it ?
