Is this OK to say to another player?

OK, we all know pvp and conflicts can be infected, its to be expected when dealing with real people and i can take alot of decaying. mob training etc thats no problem.

But what is not ok to say to another person ingame? We all know some trashtalking can occur and it sure adds some spirit to PK, and maybe soc wars in general, thick skin is needed for that.

The following was thrown in my face today in public chat.

[NAME NOT DISCLOSED] "ur so dumb emrik hope u get killed in ur car on ur way home from work"

Is it ok? , is this the game we want?

If it is well, maybe its time for a "Loot a ASI TEN" thread.

Its ingame and no names were mentioned, so its a discussion around whats ok to say ingame.
 
Two words. Not acceptable.

I agree that insults can add spice to the game, but they should also be kept within the context of the game.

Personal insults are just NBAG. (BANG out of order ;))

its the salt of the pvp.. trash talk i mean.. i used to do it alot in one game when i was maybe 13yr old.. and i did it so well that i really got into their head and made them play badly therefore got easy wins/ratings.. but in this kinda game its a different story..
 
No it's not OK. You could probably report them for playing the game underage. If not physically at least mentally. But then if you reported every immature comment in PVP you wouldn't have time to play.

Nah that definitely crossed a line and shouldn't be written/said to another player. Then again I am not too surprised you get insulted, your forum signature alone is kind of insulting. Which isn't to say that I don't agree with it. lol
 
Since Asherons call in the early 90's ive seen pvp trash talk, it hasnt gone away in really any game that has decent pvp that I have ever played. This kind of stuff is simply par for the course, IMO.

Im not sure what it is about PVP, but it brings out some serious hate from within people. Coupled with the anonymity of the internet and it is compounded.

In Rift I used to sneak into the main "non-pvp" enemy capital with my rouge and stealth kill carebear crafters, city mission runners, and innocent auction listers, some of the worst insults were from those who wont even go into PVP....I can kind of see, and appreciate why they make that choice much more now.. :)

Main lesson I learned.....
Internet pvp with anonymous people with nothing to hold the nerd rage back = the darker side of humanity in text form.

It's obviously not, but putting it in the forums really isn't very constructive. You are clearly bothered by it and you gave that person too much power over you.

Yes im bothered by it to the extent im taking actions.

Just checking what the community thinks about it, the text that is not the actions since they are my own.
 
No, it is not. It is also illegal.
 
Many people are tough on the internet or the phone which would totally cower down face to face.... I got a death threat on the phone once... When I met the guy I had never seen before, he didn't so much raise his voice at me since he discovered I was an intimidating person to stand in front of.... Unfortunately, you can't usually do that with internet tough guys, but I always imagine these folks at tiny little people which would probably mess their pants if I showed up at their door which some of these people should consider, because someone like me will do exactly that if I find out where you are.....lol... Remember when you said you'd beat me up, well here I am... :laugh:

That's ok to say i guess... if you are 9 and don't know any better but at around 10 or 11 you kind of grow out of saying such childish things.

Well most of us do, ignore the little fool and move on.

Well not all PvP is crap, stuff set aside that is PvP like the Cyrene Hub is not so bad, you can avoid it with ease. Space however is a whole realm of PvP, that has moral implications as you can't really avoid it much and it is lootable.

I am not a fan of PvP lootable but stuff set aside that is PvP like the oil rig, PvP toxic zones, the Hub are morally ok because you actually have to want to go there to get involved. Space ugg... to get to other planets and play the game you must endure the lootable hell that it is.

Second that ... although I'd prefer not to see stuff like that thrown around.

Incidentally, the most scathing and abusive battles of words I have witnessed so far ingame occurred at Icarus, not PVP.

When entering pvp, sometimes it's a good idea to shut off the chat, or move it off screen, and mute the sound... Nothing annoys bratty wannabe pkers more than being ignored as the majority of them are just emotional voids seeking attention as they are not getting enough irl. Too bad MA doesn't put 'hugs' as an emote in game so you can just go up and give them a big bear hug as that's what they really need.

i dont get why you are bothered by it ?
i go crazy over truly attempted killsteals or intended mobtrains,but i cant give an rats arse to any insults made by other players simply cause of the fact i consider myself more intelligent then those insulting me
 
This is ofcourse not okey, and Entropia really needs a way to mute people, but it's also nothing out of the ordinary.
Sign up for league of legends and do a few games, odds are you'll get plenty of deaththreats or worse. I think it is 99% kids under 16 saying this things.
And there is no 18 years old limit in entropia, don't know why people keep saying that. There is a "rule" about 13+ and with parent agreeing, but really, who read the rules at that age anyway.

You should report, add the timestamp (check log if u have main chat logged) and the avatar should get banned (if I read it right from the ToU)
 
People shouln't say tings like that, its immature and honest. Yes honest, because he probably really give a damm if you die IRL even if he knew only your Avatar on EU or sould i say BECAUSE he dont know you irl but only in eu ?

Its against ethics, morale and courtesty but in todays society nobody cares anymore. Without law and punishment we would start killing each other. In entropia the law is the support and people should be punished for making rl threats.
Some people are really anti social , egocentric and walk over their colleagues if they in their way. And if that sounds familliar for you and you associate this kind of behaviour positive because this is success in life to move forward and getting a status as high as possible in the society you can see the twist. In todays soc wishing someone to die is probably honest because nobody care as long you not benefit them in any way.

The ammount of people thinking like this is raising, i work in health care and the storys i see and hear are really depressing at times.

Should such "wishes" be punished inside EU ? YES
Did the person something wrong in his own eyes ? probably not
Will that become futures standard ? probably
 
I dont think it is something somebody should say over a game . My question is what went down to make him say it , if he just got shot a couple of times in pvp then he clearly shoudn't be their.



I did have one instance in pvp when I got angry at a pker for camping my find and wanting me to pay them to leave me alone after they already got about 30 ped from me which I thought was fair. But I didnt say anything bad like that.


P.S. I think MA should remove pvp ores and minerals from global and hof board on chat its just a come get me signal for ubers .
 
Its disgusting that someone would even think to say such a thing to another person.

I'd love for you to PM the name of the avatar that said it. So they can be added to my "Never Do Business with" list.

Sounds like the minimum I'd expect to hear during a DOTA2 match :laugh:

But no, obviously not okay. Especially here in Entropia, where the community is often considered more mature than in other MMOs, I'd expect better.

I was about to say, that's tame compared to some of the stuff you hear in League of Legends :D Either way though, it's not ok. Everyone should just stop being toxic and learn to enjoy.
