Land Area Roundup Feb 08

It has been a busy few months on the Land Area scene in Entropia, with new areas coming online, old areas changing hands and even the first round of the long awaited Land Grab.

Full listings of the current settings can be found in the Amethera Mob List at Entropia Directory.

A summary of the major changes appears below.

Land Auction:
Towards the end of December we had a Land Area Auction of 3 new Land Areas released by MindArk in the far north of Amethera. The owner of OLA 27 chose to place that area on auction at the same time, meaning that there were 4 areas up for grabs. The winners were:

OLA 41 - Qetesh Qetesh Qetesh
OLA 43 - Qetesh Qetesh Qetesh
OLA 44 - Virtual FOND Manager (Entropia Investment Fund)
OLA 27 - Game Development Lecturer (Stockholm University)

Prize Areas:
While the auction was in progress, OLA 42 was also up for grabs as the prize for the Merry Mayhem event. The event was won by Patrik Stormer Deluxe, with OLA 42 now being dubbed as Storm Land.

The final of the MMOWC 2007 was held at the CES convention in Vegas on 11th January. Linden The Chosen Avery emerged the winner of the competition and the new owner of OLA 45.

Other sales:
The Entropia Investment Fund picked up its 2nd Land Area at OLA 24 mere days after winning the auction of OLA 44.

Flerin neomaven Flerinson sold his three Land Areas in February. OLA 04 (Atrax Park) and OLA 34 (Hogglo Tundra) went to Bank Neverdie and OLA 26 (Allophyl Pasture) went to Ghenu lebanner Catalin Alexandru.

In a separate deal Bank Neverdie also acquired OLA 05 from Jay Beene Lee.

Land Grab Warm Up:

As a warm up to the full Land Grab expected in the near future, MA placed LGA 04 and LGA 18 up for grabs on 13th February. LGA 04 went to Menace To Society (M2S) and LGA 18 went to Warants.

Mob Changes:
There have been a large number of changes in mob settings over the past few months. I will only list some of the more significant changes here, though again full details can be found at ED.

  • Argonaut - in keeping with the recent increase in mutant activity around the orbs, a large amount of Argo DNA has now appeared at OLA 41 (Argo Heaven).
  • Berycled - There has been a sharp increase in the Bery spawn up at OLA 31 placing it on a level footing with OLA 14. The main choice between the 2 areas now is whether you prefer Merp or Atrox as your secondary mob.
  • Cornundos - The big Corns at OLA 35 are now dying out while Deathifier decides on the future of the Chilly west Land Area.
  • Estophyl - OLA 09 has run out of fertiliser, meaning the Esto spawn there is non-existent at the moment. Esto hunters should stick to OLA 28 for now.
  • Kingfisher - Keep an eye on the skies. The Deadly Kingfishers are swooping down on anyone approaching LGA 18.
  • Merp - Big Merps can now be found in a pure spawn at OLA 45.
  • Molisk - The tiny humanoids have chosen to make a simultaneous appearance at both OLA 44 and Emerald Lakes.
  • Neconu - The nasty land fish with the big bite are now active at OLA 42 in addition to their old haunt at OLA 01.
  • Oculus - Oculus are now active at LGA 18.
  • Scaboreas - Scabo Stalkers have been sighted at OLA 22, though you will have to watch out for the herds of large Exas that have gathered around them.
  • Thorio - Big Thorios are now massing around LGA 04 after a long absence.

Other News:
Qetesh has been looking for offers on OLA 43. However no change of ownership has occurred as yet so negotiations may still be open.

Jos Bernz Bernz has teamed up with Church of Lootius to promote OLA 15. The land formerly known as Trilo Land has now been given the rather unique title of "The Holy Trilomite Land of Lootius."

*******

That is all for now. If there is enough interest I will repeat this roundup every few months.

Bye for now.
