Usually in the past every September MA published Half year results for the year....

Hanne or Marco or anyone, since you are doing communications here, can you tell us if these will be published and when ?

As an "investor" in FPC i have a sound interest as to how the Balancesheet of my asset holding company is doing.

I would also like to know if FPC will be issueing any independent Financial Statement since it's i'ts own company...

Again, I would like to know how my "assets" ingame are accounted for.

Could you comment on that please ? ;)

It's absolutely lovely and amazing how nobody gives a f*** about the financials...

Keeps amazing me...

If you want to spend more thoughts on it, that's how a financial crisis evolves... nobody gives a f*** until the shit hits the fan...

People should ask the smart questions before it all crumbles... not afterwards...

But who am I to challenge the company who's holding my "investments"... just another idiot making a lot of noise...

I am curious to an answer too. good luck getting attention to this thread.

I very much give a frack, I also knew you are watching for it and was waiting patiently for your post after MA releases it :tiphat:

Well I have my investments in some funds.

As for entropia, fortunately to me it is a game I play to have some fun. Therefore I don't give a f*** to the company balancesheets to me it makes as much sense as requesting the balencesheets of the casino where I usually play in!

And this is the reason because I don't give a f*** about it!

Note: I'm not saying that they shouldn't publish the balancesheets, because I'm sure many people has invested in the game, what I'm saying here is simply the reason because I'm not really interested on them!

(unfortunately this forum has become worse than a court so it's always needed to tight every loose end so we don't get insulted by people who deliberately misunderstanding what is written in the posts)

cant sleep well with your investments?

I doubt you'll see separate financial reports for MA and FPC, as we all know that in reality they are still one entity, occupying the same office space in the same building... The so called 'separation' was merely moving bits of paper around in a lawyers office...

I would love to see separate financials... But I'm not holding my breath.

well, if you have bought FPC or MA shares, they`ll inform You for sure.

But if you`re just a consumer, i don`t think they are obligated to inform You with the Financial statistics.

I'm interested about this too

I can't speak for Swedish Law, but in the UK, every Company, including subsidiaries, MUST register financial reports which then become published.

But again, the content of those reports depends on FPC and/or the Law. In the UK, small companies can publish just a short summary.

Technically speaking, you never invested money into Calypso.

You just deposited it.

The quaterly financial reports (link to MA's financial statements) will not give you any control or knowledge of your deposits.

They'll just tell you how the company is doing and if they're about to fail or make more money then they usually do.

If they're sinking the balance sheet for a quarter, it might have no effect on your deposits what so ever.

If they're making outstanding profit, it still might not influence your avatar in any significant way.

If you intend to invest in MindArk, playing Entropia might not be the safest means of investment.

Food is absolutely correct.

Nope...

That's just wordgames... if this is an RCE game where I can "pull out" cash, then I can consider some of my "deposits" which have gone into "items or property" as an "investment". And this is in line with how MA are marketing their universe.

Besides, even if I just "deposited" I want to know if my PED are safe...

Without wanting to get personal, your statement makes no sense whatsoever. If you had any idea about financial statements and had you ever read any of the previous statements MA have issued, you'd know that your deposits belong to MA's Cash, that they contribute to cash flow and that your deposits are registered as "liabilites" to MA on the balancesheet.

Further more, an indication of Cash flow or the Balancesheet will give me a lot of info on how my "deposits" are doing even if there is no detailed explanation where my "deposits" are.

And last but not least, PnL is a key figure to assess a companies health... so I'd like to know about it.

MA has no obligation to publish anything, but if they want to make people "invest" in the game, they should make an effort to prove they got things under control. The Financial Reports are very very high level anyway and only give us a glimpse of what is going on. I have said for a while now that MA has a Cash flow issue. They promised to address this. I want to see the proof...

Your opinion... if MA published Results it might prove that it's safe...

Whatever happened to that IPO that was suppossed to happen a while back?

Food is correct :D

If we compare entropia to a bank.

In a bank u can make a deposit, and the bank will owe you money. If the bank increases in total value, you still have the same amount of cash in the bank. You are a customer.

If you take your savings and feel comfortable owning part of a company that you do or do not work for, in order to have a share of the profits made from that companies operations and/or financial transactions, you would be a shareholder. An investor.

That difference should be simple to understand.

That is however not the same as saying the financial reports are of no interest to the customer. Many of the product we use in our lives, entropia included are valued not in and by itself, but in relation to a lot of other factors. One of wich is service provider reliability. Wether its an RCE or a car or a thermal pump for the house, it is a great limitation to the value of the product if theres reasonable doubt that the company will exist for as long as the product might need servicing.

In entropia terms, a lot of people would be left in a grim situation where mindark to just pull the plug on the whole operation. (I am in no way implying here that i find that likely)

To OP try to rephrase your original sentiment in a bit more selective wording, and you might get further with support and forum discution.

I don't understand what you are trying to say ...

If I go to a bank and I buy a fund or a derivative product which the Bank issues. Am I a customer or also and investor ? And do I have a vivid interest in the banks performance ? Yes I do ... I can tell you that after the financial crisis, investors look very closely at banks balancesheets...

MA/EU is just like a bank with this respect. The RCE concept animates us to "deposit" and "invest" in virtual objects.

I appologise but I fail to see the point you are trying to make.

I don't understand how I can word my question more "selective". I have said I want to see Financial Reports. Full Stop.

The point is in the difference between a stakeholder and a shareholder.

You are a stakeholder, not a shareholder.

In terms of the original question, it doesn't really make much difference, both stakeholders and shareholders have an interest in the financials.

But it's important to understand that MA have no obligation beyond the legal requirements. Swedish law dictates how and when they must publish the accounts, not the stakeholders or shareholders.

a semantical problem...

The word invest have multiple meanings. One can invest time, emotion, money, social networks etc. When talking about investing money one approaches a more financial meaning of the word. An investment understood as a part ownership of a financial entity. Typically a company.

When talking about investments into entropia, this duality of the word seems to have a potential for misunderstandings.

If you go to a bank and buy shares in a company (not the bank) you will be a customer at the bank and a shareholder in the company. Not both both places....

If you invest you savings in lysterium in hope its MU will go up, you are an investor within the game, but not a shareholder of MA. This difference, i believe, should be self evident to anyone with any understanding of finance and RCE games...

I hope it helps

I think that's what I said... ;)

You're making a fuss about something I don't even argue about... I just want to see financial, that's it. And everybody playing this game should have an interest in them if you got more than a few bucks "deposited", "invested" whatever you want to call it...

I think that's what I said... ;)

Yeah I know :D But in most businesses things tend to get done close to the deadline, not earlier, and you should be familiar enough with MA by now to know that they are not the fastest working company in the world :)

All players that are intrested in the future value of their avatars skills and assets should be intrested in how the financials of MA is. I am, because if MA and EU goes down our skills and assets will be worth nothing at all. I and many others see EU as an longterm commiment to build up an avatar that maybe could give some value back in the future and at the sametime have some fun doing it. It is like a challange, can i make my avatar selfsustain and maybe show a small profit? probably not, but is fun to try anyway. So news about MA financials are of intrest.

Some points:
  • FPC does their own financial statements, i have seen the one for 2009
  • If MA makes a public statement for the half year it will probably be late, because the annnual repor for 2009 was late
  • Some extra information, MA will have an shareholder meeting in the first half of october, don't remember the exact date, maybe they alreay have had it. I read about it in a Swedish business paper (Dagens Industri). The meeting will give the board of MA the authority to issue more shares.

i am intrested, but i know that they will need a bit longer than in times were numbers were better

Hanne? someone care to post something in this thread?

Seen this: Notice of Extraordinary General Meeting in October 2010?
in Swedish but seen some knew how to translate it.

might be linked to the financial reports but thats just me...

Yes, that was the shareholding meeting i was talking about. Point 6 and 8 is the intresting part. Point 6 gives the company the possbilty to issue more shares to bring in more capital and point 8 selection of new board members.

Yep.

That's just wordgames... if this is an RCE game where I can "pull out" cash, then I can consider some of my "deposits" which have gone into "items or property" as an "investment". And this is in line with how MA are marketing their universe.

It's not wordgames, you're putting on the same level two completely different terms: "spending" and "investing".

It is true that you are able to "pull out" cash from this particular RCE game, but looking at the agreements made between User and MindArk, you do not EVER invest in anything. You just hand over your money to another party, in exchange for a virtual currency. A virtual currency that allows you to purchase virtual objects of which you will never have legal ownership of.

It's not wordgames. It's facts.

I don't see why it should become personal.

I do have an idea of how financial statements work, being something I deal with occasionally. What deposits are to MA isn't our problem. As customers, we are not aware of how cash flow affects the user or the company. It's only speculation.

Hell, from a quaterly statement you cant even tell if the company is facing harsh times.

Further more, an indication of Cash flow or the Balancesheet will give me a lot of info on how my "deposits" are doing even if there is no detailed explanation where my "deposits" are.

I don't quite see how it would. Care to share?

And last but not least, PnL is a key figure to assess a companies health... so I'd like to know about it.

That's a whole different story. But again, a quaterly is not sufficient for anyone to understand a company's health. Nor does it supply enough information for users/customers like us to make drastic decisions.

If they wanted people to truly "invest" they would have already changed the EULA.

Your opinion... if MA published Results it might prove that it's safe...

It's not my opinion.

Otherwise we could also see playing the lottery or playing monopoly with real cash an investment.

Entropia is a game, virtually buying a virtual gun with virtual currency and no legal ownership is not an investment, it's just buying a virtual gun in a videogame.

Even if it's an RCE videogame.

For some it is a combination of fun and "investment". By spending peds on skilling and buying diffrent items that have diffrent benefits we invest in our avatar in the hope of getting some advantage compared to other players and try to use this benefit to make a profit. It is like buying high risk shares, it's a bigger chance it will fail and be worthless than give any profit, but it is still a kind of investmen of money and our time.

But if MA don't have enough income to keep the game going it is pointless to invest, so we are intrested in the finacial situation of MA.

Item 6: The Board proposes to
General Meeting, with the abolition of the
previously authorized by Board received
at the AGM on 29 June 2010;
authorizes the Board to, on one or more
occasions until the next annual general meeting or
without shareholders'
preferential rights, to issue new
shares and / or warrants against
cash payment. The number of shares that can
issued under the authorization shall
be limited to a maximum of 38,211,667 shares.
The purpose of the authorization and the reason for
deviation from
to happen is that the company must be able
undertake targeted emissions in order to
obtain capital for the company.
For decisions in accordance with the proposal
must be supported by shareholders
at least two-thirds of the votes
cast and the shares represented at the
Meeting.

So they worked out their financials... said "Oh SHIT! What do we do now?" and decided to call an EXTRAORDINARY meeting with the share holders to request permission to sell more shares in order to raise money. My guess is... the meeting will go like this.....

"Your investments are GONE (Hands out new financial report to share holders attending). End users have gotten pissed and jumped ship and we're only bringing in a fraction of the revenue we thought we'd bring in. So... either let us sell more shares so we can afford to pay bills... and hopefully things will pick up.. or don't and walk outta here completely broke"

SHAREHOLDER: "Well why don't you sell Planet Calypso to raise funds?"

MA: "We tried that. Thought we had secured the sale but it fell through."

SHAREHOLDER: "What happened?"

MA: "Well.... the buyer made an account in the Entropia Universe, deposited 100 bucks, then backed out of the deal."
