Or if it's meant to be competitive, then simply make them non-tradeable, so the prizes go to the top grinders. Have the stars segregated by category and prizes for each category (e.g. FFA1, 2, etc). In the current format the only competition is who has the biggest wallet.

For players who don't want to, or don't think they can compete, have a vendor for purchasing stuff with stars.
